DESCRIPTION
The DMX-24 isaverycompactlighting protocoltranslatorwhichreceivesaUSITT DMX-512 signalfromatypical
DMXlighting console,reformatstheinformation, and transmitsit as24 channelsof0–10 voltanalog signals.A
“passthru”DMXconnectorisprovided.The unit ispowered by120 VAC.
FACTORYCONFIGURATION OPTIONS
The unitcan be supplied tooperateon 220 VACpower. The unit can alsobe supplied tooutput 0–15 VDC
analog or0–20 VDC analog.
CONNECTIONS
Connect the output of theconsoletothe 5pinmaleXLR connectoron the rearofthe DMX-24. The female5pin
XLR connectoron the rearofthe unitisa“passthru”connectortoconnectthe DMXsignal tootherequipment.
The 25 pin(DB-25)Dconnectoron therearof the unitisforthe analog outputsignalswhicharetobe connected
tothe analogdimmersorotheranalog compatiblelighting devices. Pin1ofthe DB-25 connectoristhe channel1
output signal.Channels2through 24 followinsequence(pin#=channel). Pin25 isthe common orsignal
ground. Plug the powercordintoanyconvenient120VACoutlet. Itdrawsverylittlepower.
OPERATION
The red LEDindicatoron the frontpanellightswhen powerisapplied tothe unit.The green LEDislighted when
avalidDMXsignalispresent. The unitmaybe set tooperateanyrange of24 channelsup to512 bysetting the
DIPswitcheson the front of theunit. Apartial tableof switchsettingsison the bottomof theunit.The left DIP
switchoperatesaholdfunction.If thisswitchisset toUPand the DMXsignalisremoved –the unit willcontinue
tosend the lastvalidchannelinformation tothe dimmers.
MAINTENANCE
TROUBLESHOOTING
üCheck the connectionsand integrityofthe associated cables(averycommonsourceof problems).
üEnsurethat the dimmersareon and operating. Verifythat the dimmersaddressing iscorrectlyset.
üCheck the address settingson the DMX-24.
REPAIR
Thereareno userservicablepartsinthe unit.Servicebyotherthan Lightronicsauthorized agentswillvoidthe
warranty. If serviceisrequired,contactthe dealerfromwhomyou purchased the unitorcontact Lightronics.

ADDRESS SELECTION
TheDIPSwitchSettingcolumnshowsthepositionsoftheDIPswitcheson thedimmer.TheStartChannelcolumnshowsthe
resultingchannelassignment forthefirstchannelof thedimmer
AllLightronicsproductsusingDIPswitchesforaddress assignmentsconformtothistable.Somedimmerscannot besettoall
512 channelsandwillhavefewerswitchesthanareshowninthetable.If thisisthecasethenmatchtheright end switchesin
thetabletoyourdimmerswitches.
NOTE: Somecontrolconsolescanbeprogrammed or"patched"toaltertheirchannelorder. Youmaygetunexpectedresults
ifyouarenotawareoftheconsolepatchconditionwhenyouassignchannelsatadimmer.
EXAMPLE:Ifadimmer'sDIPswitchesaresetto òÝòÝòÝÝ thenthefirst channelofthedimmerwillrespond toconsole
channel173.Theremaining dimmerchannelswillrespondtoconsolechannels174,175,176…etc.

All Lightronics productsarewarrantedforaperiodofTWO/FIVE YEARSfromthedateof
purchaseagainstdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanship.
Thiswarrantyissubjecttothefollowingrestrictionsandconditions:
A)Ifserviceisrequired,youmaybeaskedtoprovide proofofpurchasefromanauthorized
Lightronicsdealer.
B)The FIVEYEARWARRANTYisonlyvalidifthewarrantycardisreturnedtoLightronics
accompaniedwithacopyof the originalreceiptofpurchasewithin30DAYS of the
purchasedate, ifnot thentheTWOYEARWARRANTYapplies.Warrantyisvalidonlyfor
theoriginalpurchaserof theunit.
C)Thiswarrantydoesnotapplytodamageresultingfromabuse, misuse,accidents,
shipping, andrepairsormodificationsbyanyoneotherthan anauthorizedLightronics
servicerepresentative.
D)Thiswarrantyisvoidiftheserialnumberisremoved,alteredordefaced.
E)Thiswarrantydoesnotcoverlossordamage,direct orindirectarisingfromtheuseor
inabilitytousethisproduct.
F)Lightronicsreservestheright tomakeanychanges, modifications,orupdatesas
deemedappropriatebyLightronicstoproductsreturnedforservice.Suchchangesmaybe
madewithoutpriornotification totheuserandwithoutincurringanyresponsibilityorliability
formodificationsorchangestoequipmentpreviouslysupplied. Lightronics isnot
responsibleforsupplying newequipment inaccordancewithanyearlierspecifications.
G)Thiswarrantyistheonlywarrantyeitherexpressed, implied,orstatutory,uponwhichthe
equipment ispurchased. Norepresentatives,dealersoranyof theiragentsare
authorizedtomakeanywarranties,guarantees,orrepresentationsotherthanexpressly
stated herein.
H)Thiswarrantydoesnotcoverthe costof shipping productstoorfromLightronics for
service.
I)LightronicsInc. reservestherighttomakechangesasdeemednecessarytothis
warrantywithoutpriornotification.
