1Introduction
This document describes the procedure to pair 2 LM048v2 or LM058v2 adapters. This document also
lists the time it should take for each step in pairing procedure including the time needed for
preparing the setup, unpacking and packing LM048v2 adapters. The time line is highlighted by
yellow colour to make it clearer. The time is estimated time for a first time new user unfamiliar with
pairing. An experienced user will take much less time and this time should reduce as a new user
becomes expert at pairing.
This document is intended for the packaging team which would unpack the adapters, pair them and
pack them upon special request. The document assumes LM048v2 and LM058v2 dual packaged
adapters are used.

2.1 Requirements
The list of requirements needed to pair the adapters is shown below
1. PC running Windows XP, VISTA or 7
2. LM149 Software v 1.3 or above
3. Serial Cable (Straight or Twisted)
4. Minimum 1 serial port on PC or USB to Serial Converter
5. LM048v2 or LM058v2 twin packed adapters
2.2 Setup Procedure
1. Download the LM149 Software from our website. Check the version. It should be v1.3 or
above. Check version information by going to Help->About or from file name
Time Taken = 1 min
2. Install the LM149 Software on the PC.

Time Taken = 30 sec
3. Connect the Serial cable to the PC and a mini USB to USB cable to the USB port.
Time Taken = 1 min
Total time taken for setup = 2 min 30 sec
2.3 Pairing Procedure
1. Unpack the 2 adapters from packaging. Just unpack the adapters. No need to unpack
accessories.
Time Taken = 1 min
2. Make sure slide switch is toward DCE if straight serial cable is used. If twisted cable is used,
slide switch position is DTE. Connect one adapter to serial port cable and power is via Mini
USB cable
Time Taken = 10 sec
3. Start the LM149 Configuration Software. Select COM port number, 19200 Baud rate, None
Parity, 1 Stop bits, Flow Control: Disabled
Press Get Device Info. The LM149 Software will read the settings and update the window

4. Press Pairing button. This will bring up pairing window. Press Pair Device. It will pop up
message “Connect Device 2 to COM 1 and Press OK”. Connect the other adapter to Serial
Port and Press OK
5. You will get a message “Connect Device 1 to COM 1 and Press OK”. Connect the original
adapter to Serial Port and Press OK

6. You will get message “Pairing completed successfully” if steps 4-5 are OK. Press OK. Pairing
Procedure is done. Go to Local Device settings and check Device Address and Remote
Address Box. They should be different. Close LM149 Software

7. Package the adapters back in the box
Time Taken = 1 min
Total time taken for pairing 2 adapters including packing/unpacking= 3 min 40 seconds
If some problem occurs during pairing perform steps 4 to 6 again
