3. Earthingofthegenerator
Inordertopreventelectricshock duetoshoddyelectricalappliancesorwronguseof
electricity, the generatormust beearthedwithagood-qualityinsulated conductor.
4. Loads
Beforeconnectingthe loads,it mustbe confirmedthat
Thetotalof all loads’powervaluesdoesn’texceed thegenerator’sratedpower.
Overloaduse willshortenthegenerator sservice life.
If thegeneratorisconnectedtomultipleloadsorelectricityconsumers,please
remembertofirst connecttheonewiththehighest startingcurrent, then theonewiththe
secondhigheststarting current... and lastconnecttheonewiththe loweststarting
current.
5. Highaltitudeoperation
Inahighaltitudearea,the standardcarburetorair-fuelmixturewill be excessivelyrich,
outputpowerwill decreaseandfuelconsumption will increase.Highaltitude
performancecanbeimprovedbyinstallingasmallerdiametermainfueljetinthe
carburetorand readjustingthe pilotscrew.Ifyou alwaysoperatethe generatorat
altitudeshigherthan3,300feet(1,000meters),pleasehaveanauthorized generator
dealerperformcarburetorchange.
Even withsuitablecarburetorjetting,engine horsepowerwilldecreasebyapproximately
3.5%foreach1,000 feet(300meters)increaseinaltitude.Theeffectofaltitude on
horsepowerwill be greaterthan thisifno carburetorchangeismade.
Ifanenginesuitablefor high altitudeisusedataloweraltitude,the
excessivelyleanairfuelmixturewillreduce outputpowerandmay
over-heatand seriouslydamagetheengine.
VI. Maintenanceofthegenerator
Good maintenanceisthe bestassuranceforsafe,economicaland zero-malfunction
runningofthegenerator, andit isalsogoodforenvironmentprotection.
Inordertopreventcarbon monoxidepoisoning and electricshock,
shutoff thegenerator beforeperforming anymaintenance.
Periodicmaintenanceand adjustmentarenecessaryforkeepingthe generatorina
good operatingcondition.Performthe serviceandinspectionattheintervalsshownin
the Maintenanceschedulebelow:
