5.2. Operation
Before operating the Pyrometer IGA315-K USB the looking though lense is to be adjusted at
abright,whitebackground(e.g.asheetofpaper)byturningtheocularuntilthecircle-shaped
measuringeldisvisiblesharplyattherelaxedeye.
Werecommendtheusingofthegreylterbyscrewinginthethreadoftheocularathigh
measuring temperatures.
Focusizing is done by the looking through lens. To adjust the distance loosen the tighting
ring and move the tube by turning until the measured object is focusized sharply. Tighten the
tightening ring after focusizing.
Themeasuringkeyisatwostepkey.Bypressingandholdingthekeyintherstpositionthe
infrared thermometer will be activated and switched to the measuring mode.
The point to be measured can be searched by moving the instrument. Depending on the
choosencongurationthemeasuredvalue,theaveragevalueorthepeakvaluearedisplay-
ed in the looking through the lens and the larger display.
By pressing the measuring key to the second step the value will be stored to the next storage
position. The success of the writing procedure is shown by a long beep. If there are any pro-
blemswritingthevalue(e.g.exceedinglimits)tenshortbeepsaretobeheared.
Themeasuredvaluesarestoredoneafteranother,thatmeansonerowwillbelledupuntil
onehundredmeasuringvalues.Aftertherowislledtheinstrumentstartstollthenextrow
from point 001.
5.3. Internal battery charge
Insert the rechargeable 1.2 V batteries come with the instrument into the Battery compart-
ment of the infrared thermometer.
Attention: Pay attention to polarity!
Connect the recharger type ACS 410 with the recharging joint on the front side of the instru-
ment.Rechargingstartsaftereshorttestingphase(app.10sec.).Afterrechargingthered
LEDswitchesoffandthethestorage-chargewillstartautomatically(greenLEDglows).
Ifadefectiverechargeablebatteryisinsertet,theredLEDwillicker.Adefectiverechargeab-
le battery is easy to locate by using the optional recharger Voltcraft and must be replaced.
Attention: Never connect the recharger to the instrument
with no rechargeable batteries inserted!

5.4. Changing rechargeable batteries / external recharging
To charge the rechargeable batteries the ribbed screw of the battery compartment must be
loosened and the compartment cover must be removed.
Now you can remove the rechargeable batteries. The batteries must inserted in the battery
charger correctly as shown in the battery chargers manual.
Therechargedbatterieshavetobeinsertedasshownontheidenticationplateorthedra-
wingndbelow.
Afterclosingthebatterycompartmenttheribbedscrewmustbetightendrmly.

The identication plate is on the bottom side!
Therechargedbatteriesmustnecessarilybeledwiththecorrectpolarity.
The recharged batteries must inserted like shown in in pict. 3!
Finally, the battery cover is closed again and tightened the thumbscrew.
5.5. Choice of a measuring row or a measuring point
By pressing the Select key in measuring mode it is possible to switch between the display-
ed storage points. The switching order is measuring row – measuring point. By pressing
+or -the row / point can be selected. The Select key switches to the next free storage
place in the chosen row.
5.6. Rewriting of one or some measuring points
By pressing of the Select key followed by +or -the row will be selected. The point to
be rewritten will be selected by Select followed by -.
Thenumberofthemeasuringpointwillickerindisplay.
A measuring value can be taken as described above.
The instrument will suggest the following storage point in row.

5.7. Clearing of storage
To initiate clearing press Init. and Select simultaneously.
Display:
Conrmationofclearingisdonebypressing OK .
Display : after a few seconds
Abortion of clearing is done by pressing Select beforeconrmation.
5.8. Data transmission to PC
With the included software, it is easily possible to read out the measured data. This leads to
the positioning pins of the included infrared interface in the positioning of support is an on
pyrometer.

The USB connector is connected to a free USB
port on the PC.

5.9. Battery test
Thebatterytestwillbeconrmedbypressingandholdingthe Conf. key.

If the battery power is beneeth 5.5 V it will be displayed as follows:
The batteries should be recharged or changed.
Attention: Never use not rechargable batteries !!

6. Conguration
6.1. Selection of values
The selection of values can be done by pressing the +or -key. The displayed value will
be enlarged or reduced by one step.
If one of the two keys is pressed longer than two seconds a quick-count mode wil be setted
to allow the change of values more quickly.
By pressing the Select key the value will be stored in the correct limits.
6.2. Parameters
Thecongurationmenuisdisplayedfrommeasuringmodebypressing Conf. and Select
simultaneously.
In this menu the Select keyswitchestothenextmenupoint.Toconrmadisplayedvalue
the Select key has to be pressed.
Konguration options:
1. Emissivity
The emissivity can be choosen between 0.1 and 0.99.
2. Minimum temperature
The minimum temperature can be set.
3. Energy saving mode
The time until energy saving mode is reached
4. Automatic shutdown
The time until the instrument swiches off automatically
5. Temperaturunit
Toggle between deg. Celsius and deg. Fahrenheit
6. Measuring mode
To toggle between Continous measuring, peak picker mode and average
mode.
7. Date and time
To maintain date and time while saving data to storage it is possible to set it
here to your requirements.
6.3. Emissivity
Display:
The Emissivity can be chosen by pressing +or -between 0.1 und 0.99.

6.4. Minimum temperature
Display :
The minimum temperature can be chosen by pressing +and -between
600°C(1112°F)and1600°C(2912°F).
Notice: If the measured value is beneath this minimum temperature
will not be stored!
6.5. Energy saving mode
Theenergysavingmodewillshutdownenergyintensiveprocesses(e.g.LEDdispays).
These status will be reached after not using the instrument for the presetted time (in se-
conds).Theinstrumentwillnotshutdowncompletelyandwillbeinmeasuringmodeimmi-
deatly after pressing the measuring button. The tome presetted must be less then the time
presetted in automatic shutdown.
Display:
You can set the time until the instrument switches to energy saving mode by +or -in
seconds.
6.6. Automatic shutdown
The instruiment will shut down completely after not using it for the presettet time
(inseconds).
After pressing the measuring button the instrument will maintain a short self-test which will
take a few seconds before reaching measuring mode.

You can set the time until the instrument shut down automatically in seconds
by pressing +or -.
6.7. Temperature unit
