Mounting the LSP
INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
QUESTION ANSWER
Where should I mount my
LSP?
The LSP can be mounted below, above, to the left or to the right of the
existing circuit breaker panel. Approximately 17”x24” of clear space is
required to accommodate a LSP above or below a circuit breaker panel
and approximately 17”x17” of clear space is required to accommodate a
LSP on either side of a circuit breaker panel (NOTE: modifications to the
LSP’s conduit will be required in order to accommodate mounting the LSP
to the left or right of the circuit breaker panel).
Can I utilize junction boxes
or combiner boxes to help
facilitate the installation of
my LSP?
Yes, you can use junction boxes, combiner boxes, or additional hardware
as needed to help accommodate your LSP installation so long as each
component is utilized/installed in accordance with national, state and local
code requirements.
Is my LSP compatible with
surface and flush-mounted
circuit breaker panels?
Yes, the LSP can be installed with both surface mounted or flush mounted
circuit breaker panels. Most surface mounted installation will require
extension brackets for mounting, which are provided with your LSP.
Can I utilize junction boxes
or combiner boxes to help
facilitate the installation of
my LSP?
Yes, you can use junction boxes, combiner boxes, or additional hardware
as needed to help accommodate your LSP installation so long as each
component is utilized/installed in accordance with national, state and local
code requirements.
What tools/equipment will I
need?
The LSP comes with mounting hardware and mounting brackets (surface-
mount installations) but installers will need the following tools to complete
the installation process (mounting and wiring):
• Drill
• Manual knockout
• Wire stripper
• Wire nuts (for 6 AWG & 10 AWG wires)
• Screwdriver
• Tape measure
• Level
• Drywall saw (flush-mount installations)
Additional tools/equipment may be needed depending on the exact
installation scenario.

Wiring the LSP
INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
QUESTION ANSWER
How do I install the LSP’s
Power Cable Harness?
Install the LSP’s Power Cable Harness by connecting the LSP’s white wire
labeled “Neutral” to the existing neutral bar in the electrical panel; then
connect the black LSP wire labeled “Line A” to a breaker located on phase
A of the electrical panel; and then connect the red LSP wire labeled “Line
B” to a breaker located on phase B of the electrical panel.
The LSP wires “Line A” and “Line B” can be connected to their respective
breakers via double-tapping the breaker or via a three-way wire nut or via
a new, unpopulated breaker if needed.
How do I connect my LSP to
the circuits in my circuit
breaker panel?
Select a circuit to connect to the LSP, turn it offand disconnect the load
with a screwdriver. Then select a LSP wire labeled “Line # A” and connect it
to the now vacant circuit breaker with a wire stripper and screwdriver.
Next select the LSP wire with the corresponding line number and ending
with B (labeled “Line # B”) and connect it to the disconnected load with a
wire stripper and wire nut.
Ensure a tight connection is made between the two wires. Once the
connection between the circuit and the LSP is completed you can turn the
circuit breaker back on. Repeat these steps until all desired circuits are
connected to the LSP.
Which circuits should I
connect to my LSP?
Please refer installer to Lumin’s Circuit Selection Guide:
https://lumin.app.box.com/folder/78148559938
Or Lumin’s YouTube video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5v9833zbWo&t=1s
Is the LSP only compatible
with a certain brand/type of
circuit breaker?
The LSP is compatible with all circuit breakers rated up to 60 amps,
regardless of the manufacturer or brand.

Wiring the LSP
INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
QUESTION ANSWER
How do I install the LSP’s Grid
Voltage Detector (GVD)?
Extend the LSP wires labeled “Grid Neutral” (white) and “Grid Line” (black)
and land them in the ATS (supply side) via the appropriate connection (lug,
wire nut, line side tap, etc.).
If installing your LSP on a sub panel, then land the “Grid Neutral” and “Grid
Line” wires into the main circuit breaker panel via the appropriate
connection.
NOTE: For most Tesla Powerwall installations, Lumin recommends landing
the “Grid Neutral” and “Grid Line” wires in the Tesla Gateway via a din rail
and fuse holder (not provided) and then performing a line side tap on the
supply side line above/before the ATS.
How do I install the LSP’s
Current Transformers (CTs)?
Lumin’s larger 200A CTs are designed to be installed on the existing circuit
breaker panel’s main supply lines. Do this by connecting the CT labeled
“Line A CT” to the corresponding LSP wire labeled “Line A CT.” Connect the
CT labeled “Line B CT” to the corresponding LSP wire labeled “Line B CT.”
Attach the CT labeled “Line A CT” to phase A of the main supply line and
attach the CT labeled “Line B CT” to phase B of the main supply line.
Lumin’s smaller 50A CTs are designed to be installed on the PV
generation/output line. Connect the CT labeled “Aux B CT” to the
corresponding LSP wire labeled “Aux B CT.” Attach the CT labeled “Aux A
CT” to phase A of the PV generation/output line and attach the CT labeled
“Aux B CT” to phase B of the PV generation/output line. If no PV/solar
generation line is present then you can attach the auxiliary CTs to an
alternative line that adheres to the CTs 50 amp rating.
NOTE: Make sure that the marking “K” on the CT is facing toward the grid
side.
Can I modify the LSP’s
wires?
While certainly possible, Lumin does not recommend modifying the LSP’s
wires as doing so will void the product’s warranty and introduces the risk
of damaging sensitive internal components.
