Unit cooler – unit heater ATDC
General description
The ATDC is used to heat air with water. The water circulates
in the unit heater’s heat exchanger and heats or cools with the
help of the fan circulated air. The ATDC can be equipped with
various accessories to control the supply of heat.

cooler and indicates the following:

General
• Readallthemaintenanceinstructionsbeforeyoubegin
handling this product.
• Thecoolershallbeinstalledatalocationwhere
it is out of reach of the general public.
• Permitonlytrainedpersonswhohaveknowledgeofthe
product and appropriate safety precautions to carry out
anyworkonthecooler.
 Neverstandorwalkonthecoolersincethiscan
resultinpersonalinjuryordamagetothecooler.
Both the cooler and exhaust air can be hot when
inuse,whichcancausepersonalinjury.
 Warning!Thecoolermustnotbeinstalledin
environmentswherethereisariskofexplosions.
Installation
TheATDCmustbepermanentlyinstalled.Fastenersand
bracketsaretobesufcientlystabletosupportthenet
weightoftheunitheater/cooler,andtheweightofthe
uidthattheheatexchangerislledwith.
Operating pressure
TheATDCmayonlybeusedinasystemdesignedfor
themaximumworkingpressureMWP(MPa)andthe
maximumtemperatureMWT(°C)asstatedontheunit
heater’s/cooler´s rating plate.
Connections
Pipeconnectionsontheheatexchangermustnotbe
subjectedtotheweightoftheconnectingpipesystem,
ortheexpansionforcesofthepipesystem.
NOTE! Loadsandimpactcandamagetheheatexchanger.
Do not load the heat exchanger’s connection pipes during
installation.Counterholdcouplingstopreventpipesfrom
rotating when tightening the connection couplings.
Cleaning
Onlyuseenvironmentallyfriendlycleaningagentthatwill
notdamagetheheatexchanger.
High temperatures
Componentparts,suchas,connectionpipesandtheouter
casingcanbecomehotwhentheunitheaterisrunning.
Theoutletairmayalsobehot.
Condensated water in air ow
Duringcoolingoperationthereisariskofcondensation
ontheheatexchanger,whichmaycausecondensated
watertoentertheairow.Intheseoperationmodesa
lowerrpmshouldbeselected(validforseizesATDC-55-3
and66-3highspeedoperation).

At delivery
Checkthatnodamagehasoccurredinconnectionwith
transportorunloading.Itisimportanttochecktheheat
exchanger’snsandtheoutercasingandconnection
pipes on the unit heater. The ATDC is designed to
withstandnormalloadsduringtransport.Anytransport
damagedetectedmustbeimmediatelyreportedtothe
shipperandtoLuvataSöderköpingAB.Makeanoteofthe
damageontheconsignmentnoteaswell.
Installation
The ATDC should be positioned so the required air supply
isobtained,seeg3,page4.Wallandceilingbrackets
areavailableasaccessories,dimensionsassetoutin
tables2and3,page4.Otheraccessories,seethe
instructions for each accessory.
Mechanical
TheATDCmustbepermanentlyinstalled.TheATDCand
accessoriesarettedwithholesforfastening.
Electrical
Thefanmotormustbeconnectedtoalockablesafety
switch.Thesafetyswitchmustnotbeusedtostartand
stop the unit. The unit should be started/stopped using
otherexternalequipment.Themotorshouldbepreceded
byamotorcut-outwithamaximumsettingequivalentto
themotor’smaximumpermittedcurrent.Amotorcut-out
isnotnecessaryonmotorswithanintegratedthermalcut-
outifthethermalcut-outisconnected.Themainscable
isconnectedasillustratedinthewiringdiagrampresen-
tedingures8-10(page10)forsinglephasemotorsand
asingures11-15(page11)forthreephasemotors.
Oncethefanmotoriselectricallyconnected,checkthatit
rotatesinthesamedirectionasindicatedbytherotation
arrow. The arrow is located on the outside of the fan.
Dismantling
Itisimportanttodraintheunitheaterofalluidwhen
removingitfromasystem.
NOTE! Anyproductspotentiallyharmfultotheenviron-
mentmustbecollectedinsuitablecontainers,whichcan
be sent for disposal or recycling.

Installation
Transport
Kontrollera att inga skador
uppkommit i samband med
transporten eller lossningen.
Särskilt viktig är kontrollen av
värmeväxlarens lamellyta samt l hölje och
anslutningsrör.
ATDC är konstruerad
för att tåla normala laster
under transport. Eventuella transportskador
ska omedel-
bart anmälas till fraktaren och
till Coiltech. Gör även
en anmärkning på fraktsedeln.
Montage
ATDC ska placeras så
att erforderlig luftförsörjning
erhålles, se fig. 3. Konsoler för
vägg respektive tak finns som tillbehör,
mått enligt tabell 2
och 3. För övriga tillbehör, se instruktion för
respektive
tillbehör.

Mekaniskt
ATDC ska vara fast förankrad.
ATDC och tillbehör är för-
Sedda med hål för förankring.
Elektriskt
Fläktmotorn ska vara kopplad
till en låsbar säkerhetsbrytare.
Säkerhetsbrytaren får ej använ-
das för start och stopp.
Start/stopp ska utföras genom
annan extern utrustning.
Motorn ska föregås av ett motor-
skydd, högst inställt på motorns
maximalt tillåtna ström. På motor-
er med inbyggd temperaturvakt
behövs ej motorskydd om tempe-
raturvakten är inkopplad.
Anslutande elektrisk kabel ansluts
enligt elschema enligt figur 8-10 för
enfasmotorer och enligt figur 11-15
för trefasmotorer.
När fläktmotorn är elektriskt
ansluten, kontrollera att fläkten
roterar i överensstämmelse med
rotationspilens riktning. Pilen är
placerad på fläktringens utsida
Demontering
Vid demontering av ATDC
ur ett system är det viktigt att
värmeväxlaren avtappas på vätska.
OBS! Miljöfarliga vätskor ska
samlas upp i kärl och lämnas för
deponering eller återvinning
.

 damagedmotorbearingoradamagedimpeller.
2. Fasteningdevices-Checkthatnoloadcarryingbolted
joints are defective.
3. Electricalinstallation-Checkthatnodamagehas
 arisen,andthesafetyswitchfunctionscorrectly.
4. Finstructure-Checkthatitiscleanandundamaged.
5. Impeller-Checkthatitiscleanandundamaged.
6. Condensatedrain–Checkthatthedrainisnotclogged.
Fan unit
Thefanmotorsfeaturepermanentlylubricatedbearings
anddonotrequireregularmaintenance.
Repair work
PartsandmaterialproposedbyLuvataSöderköpingAB
mustbeusedinorderforthestatedguaranteetoapply.
The guarantee does not apply to heat exchangers that
havebeendamagedthroughincorrectinstallation,
hammeringorfreezing.
Long-term storage
WhentheATDCistobekeptinlong-termstorage(normal-
lylongerthanonemonthofstorageintheNordicclimate)
the following applies for the unit heater:
1. The ATDC should be stored indoors as you intend to
install it.
2.WhentheATDCiskeptinadampenvironmentthe
 surfacenishmustbecheckedtoensurethatdamage
 doesnotoccur.Touch-upanydamage.
3.TheATDCshouldbecoveredwithreinforcedplasticor
 othermechanicalprotectiontopreventcontamination
 andwaterfrompenetratingandsoilingordamaging
 thenstructureandfanunit.
4. The unit heater’s pipe connections should be sealed.
Risk of freezing
Thereisariskofdamageduetofreezingoninstallations
withoutdoorairmixingwhentheheatexchangerbecomes
toocold.Checkthatthefreezemonitorfunctionsandthat
theoutdoorairdamperclosesfully.Whenthesystemis
notusedduringthewinter,thewaterintheheatexchan-
gershouldbedrainedtopreventfreezing.Whentheheat
exchangercannotbefullydrainedwerecommendtheuse
ofcompressedairtoblowoutanyremainingwater.When
waterwithantifreezeisusedtheheatexchangerdoesnot
need to be drained.
Spare parts
Werecommendthatonefanunitiskeptasspareparts
whenaninstallationissubjecttoveryhighdemandson
availability.FanunitsarenormallykeptinstockatLuvata
Söderköping.Fanunitskeptassparepartsshouldbe
storedindoorsindryanddust-freeconditions.
Replacing the fan unit
ATDC without mixer unit or air recirculation unit
1. Switchoffthemainssupplytothemotor.Lockthe
 safetyswitchintheOFFposition.
2. Disconnectthemainscablefromthemotor.
3. Loosenthesecuringscrewsonthecontactguardand
 removethefanunit.
4. Followtheaboveinstructionsinthereverseorderto
 assemble.
5. Beforestarting,checkthattheimpellercentresinthe
fan ring and that the direction of rotation corresponds
with the rotation direction arrow.
ATDC with mixer unit
1. Switchoffthemainssupplytothemotor.Lockthe
 safetyswitchintheOFFposition.
2. Dismantletheltercoverandremovetheairlter.
3. Followtheinstructionsforreplacingthefanunit
 withoutmixerunit,points2to5.
4. Fittheairlterandltercover.1

1. Switchoffthemainssupplytothemotor.Lockthe

2. Demontera tak- och bottendel för bättre åtkom-
lighet. (2 3)
3. Lamellvärmeväxlaren rengörs bäst genom att blåsa med
tryckluft eller genom högtrycks-tvättning. För att kunna
rengöra mot luftriktningen i lamellvärmeväxlaren vinklas
luftriktarna 90° mot lamellytan.
4. Vid rengöring med vatten:
Skydda motorn mot fukt genom att täcka den med plast
eller genom att sätta en skiva framför fläkten. Spruta först
hela värmeväxlaren med miljövänligt lösningsmedel under
lågt tryck. Högtryckstvätta med vatten efter 10-12 minuter.
Det är viktigt att hålla munstycket vinkelrätt mot
lamellytan och ej närmare än 150 mm. (4, 5)
5. Lamellkroppen får inte innehålla några rester av
lösningsmedel efter tvätt eftersom rester kommer
att binda nytt damm. Lameller som deformeras
vid rengöringen kan riktas med hjälp av en lamell-
kam (QLAZ-20) som beställs från Coiltech.
6. Kontrollera att kondensatavloppet är rent.

solvent after washing as this will help to bind new dust.
