About The App
LuXout Shade’s motorized window treatments can be voice controlled easily through Amazon Alexa. Simple
commands allow you to raise and lower your shades, or draw your drapery. Individual treatments, groupings of
treatments, and user determined “scenes” can all be programmed for instant access.
Getting Started
In order to control your motorized window treatments through Amazon Alexa, you will need to have:
• Your Amazon device.
• Purchased and set up your LuXout Shades Wi-Fi Hub.
• Downloaded LuXout Automate Shades app onto your mobile device.
• Integrated your motorized window treatments onto LuXout Automate Shades app.
• Downloaded and set up your Amazon Alexa app.

Enabling LuXout Automate Shades
Controlling Your Window Treatments Through Amazon Alexa
In order to get the most convenient control from your shades through Alexa, first consider how you plan to interact
with them. If you plan to operate each window treatment individually, imagine what the most logical name might be
while labeling the window treatments in the LuXout Shade Automate Shades app. For example, a name like “Dining
Room Shade” might be easier to remember than Shade 4.
On/Off
Alexa currently considers window treatments as if they were lights. The most common way to interact with lights
through Alexa is to “turn on” or “turn off” the lights. The same approach would apply to window treatments.
• To lower an individual shade, say “Alexa, turn on Bedroom shade”.
• To raise an individual shade, say “Alexa, turn off Bedroom shade”.
Scene Control
If you plan to trigger scenes through Alexa, consider what the most meaningful names might be when programming
them into your LuXout Shade Pulse app. For instance, a scene named “Good Morning” is easy to remember and
accurately describes the experience one might look for in that scene.
• To activate a scene created in the LuXout Shade Pulse app, say “Alexa, turn on Good Morning”.
(Scenes can only be created in the LuXout Automate Shades app.)
Group Control
A common method of operating window treatments throughout Alexa is through groups. These groups are often
individual rooms, multiple room groupings, or a whole home. Please be aware that the rooms that you have
programmed into your LuXout Automate Shades app will not automatically show up in your Amazon Alexa app. You
will be required to create the groupings in Amazon Alexa, triggering it to operate is as simple as asking Alexa to
turn on that group.
• To lower a group of window treatments configured in the Alexa App, say “Alexa, turn on Living Room shades”.
(See following instructions for directions on how to create a group in Amazon Alexa)
Percentage Control
An individual window treatment or group of window treatments can be set to a percentage of openness. The
percentage will be based on what the programmed limits are on the motor. A shade that is ocmpletely raised to its
upper limit is at 0% while a shade that is completely lowered to its lower limit is at 100%.
• To move an individual shade halfway up, say “Alexa, set Bedroom shade to 50%”.

home control system. The integration supports isolated shade control and features a two-way communication
system offering real time shade position. The Wi-Fi Hub is available for purchase through LuXout Shades. It can
integrate up to 20 shades and supports plug ‘n play RS485 Serial integration through a RJ9 port conveniently
located on the back of the Hub.
Getting Started
In order to control your motorized window treatments through ELAN, you will need to have:
• Your ELAN device.
• Purchased and set up your LuXout Shades Wi-Fi Hub, one or more may be needed depending on the size of
your home.
• Integrated your motorized window treatments onto the LuXout Automate Shades app.

Instructions For Authorized ELAN Dealer
ELAN Driver Installation
1). Window treatment equipment should be fully functioning prior to integration.
2). Connect the Wi-Fi Hub (LuXout Automate Pulse Hub) to an available ELAN serial port.
3). Download the Rollease Acmeada driver and documentation from the ELAN website.
4). In the ELAN Configurator, add the downloaded driver to the lighting tab and follow the provided documentation.
5). The driver will automatically find the hubs and shades on the serial connection once Discover Devices is pressed.
6). The driver is now fully functioning. Create pages and controls as desired for operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
No Wi-Fi Hub Detected
Make sure that your serial binding is assigned to the correct serial output of the ELAN controller. Confirm you are
using the RS232 adapter supplied by LuXout Shades.
Shade Limits Are Not Set Properly
Calibrate shade limits with your remote control before setting the appropriate open and close time within ELAN. Have
your authorized LuXout Shades dealer properly set the LuXout Shade motor limits.
Shade Is Not Moving At All
Make sure the selected Wi-Fi Hub is the correct Wi-Fi Hub for the shade to be controlled. Confirm the correct
bindings are set in the ELAN connections tab between the Wi-Fi Hub and Shade drivers.
I Have Multiple Wi-Fi Hubs, What Do I Do
Multiple Hubs are automatically detected during discovery.
I Don’t See Any Shade Bindings In The Hub Driver
Select “Retrieve Shades” located in the driver actions tab.

CONTROL4 Hub Driver Installation
1. Connect the Wi-Fi Hub (LuXout Shades Pulse Hub) to an available Control4 serial port.
2. Download the Pulse Hub Serial Driver
(Available http://www.rolleaseacmeda.com/us/products/product-detail/automate_control4_us)
3. In Composer software, place the Automate Pulse Hub driver into the project
4. Navigate to the connections tab and bind proper serial connection binding to the driver
a. The driver will automatically find the hubs on the serial connection
b. If there is only 1 hub the driver will automatically select the hub
and find all shades for the hub and create bindings for them
5. Select a hub from the ‘Hub Address’ property
a. The driver will automatically find the shades available
for the hub and create connections for them
6. The “Automate Pulse Hub” driver is now fully functioning
7. For each shade that the “Automate Pulse Hub” has added to the
connections add an “Automate Pulse Shade” driver to the project
8. Bind the “Automate Pulse Shade” drivers to the “Automate Pulse Hub”.
a. You can use the “Jog” action to more easily identify shades
b. Once the connection has been bound the driver will automatically populate shade properties
9. Set the ‘Shade Movement Type’ to ‘Move’ or ‘Rotate’ in order to determine what the driver should Control.
a. ‘Move’ will control basic shade movement
b. ‘Rotate’ will control the motor rotation
10. Run the ‘Calibrate’ action on the shade, this will inform the driver of how long it takes for the shade to open
and close

Auto Update Enables or disables real time updates of the driver. For support of this property the
annex4 LiNK driver is required.
Driver Version The current version of the driver.
Server Ver-
sion
The server version of the driver. For support of this property the annex4 LiNK driver
is required.
Debug Mode Reports information to the log and Lua output window.
Modes Debug Reports the data being moved around.
Trace Reports the ow of the driver.
Info Reports important pieces of information.
Warning Reports any small issues that arise.
Error Reports any large issues that arise.
Fatal Reports issues that cause the driver to fail.
Hub Address The hub address that the driver is primarily communicating to. If only one hub is on
the serial connection it will be automatically selected when the serial connection is
bound.

Terminal Allows the dealer to manually send commands to the automate hub. Commands
should be formatted with a starting ! and an ending ; Responses will show in the
property after a couple hundred milliseconds.

I Don’t See Any Shade Bindings In The Hub Driver
Select “Retrieve Shades” located in the driver actions tab.
How Do I Scan For Available Hubs
Once the Wi-Fi Hub (LuXout Automate Pulse Hub) is properly connected via the
RS232 to RS485 adapter, navigate to the Hub Properties page within Composer.

7. Using a remote or the LuXout Automate Pulse app, move each shade to initiate a response (in order to identify
each).
8. Hub and motor addresses will automatically populate. Move each motor to identify each hub/motor address.
9. Once you have identified each shade, configure the module for each hub/motor in SIMPL Windows.
