OPERATION AUTO-MODE
!
Items:Handle position:
Loading operation:
Auto-mode
The handle MUST always be in the
centre position (auto-mode) when
loading container.
Unloading operation:
Lift container.
Release operation:
Pull the wire hande.
Insert the yellow cone into the
ISO socket with the wire
handle outwards.
Turn the twistlock
anticlockwise until it
drops into place.
Ready for container loa-
ding.

’lashing protection mode’.
Setting twistlock in ’Lashing protection mode’
Pull wire handle to either left or
right and lock it into 3 o’clock or
9 o’clock position.

Emergency tool
EMERGENCY OPERATION
!
Items:When to use:
Straighten the tool.
Connect the second hook to the other
side of the twistlock.
Ensure that hooks are secured to
the twistlock.
When the twistlock has been
mounted backwards.
Push the tool to pull out wire handle.
Ensure that the handle is at the bottom
of the fork gap and that the hook is atta-
ched to the twistlock as shown.
Connect the fork to the wire handle.

EMERGENCY OPERATION
! Ensure that all arms and hooks stay
in position when locking.
Lock the tool with the latch.
The twistlock is now secured in open
position and the container can be lifted.

Removal of emergency tool:
To remove the emergency tool, open the latch.

INSPECTION AND SERVICE
!
What to inspect:
! Bad corrosion
(>10% material loss)
Visual check every 10 months.
Maintenance every 6-12 months
If any malfunction or damage is
noted
Function test:
Pull handle three times to check that shaft
rotation is undisturbed and that twisting
spring function is satisfactory.
Lock handle in 3 and 9 o’clock positions.
Scrapping criteria When to inspect
How to service:
Clean all parts
Remove old grease
Re-grease
In case of any malfunction
disassemble and replace
the faulty parts. Replace
missing parts.

1. Top cone blue paint visible
2. Bottom yellow paint visible
3. Cracks and/or deformation on
housing and/or handle
4. Wire damage
5. Handle guide condition
6. End knob damaged or missing

MAINTENANCE DISASSEMBLY
Tools required
Preparation:
Place the twistlock on the base plate
(or into a bench vice if available)
with bolts facing upwards.
Use allen key to remove the
bolts of the yellow cone.
Remove upper spring.
Use allen key to remove the
bolts of the body.
Remove all parts to free the shaft.
Clean all parts.

MAINTENANCE HANDLE REMOVAL
Tools required
Preparation:
Place twistlock shaft
on base plate.
Press the C-Ring detachment
tool against the C-Ring.

Use ball pein hammer to release
the c-ring from the shaft.

MAINTENANCE HANDLE MOUNTING
Tools required
Preparation:
Place twistlock shaft
on base plate.
Attach the handle to the c-ring
attachment tool.

Use ball pein hammer to mount the c-ring in the shaft.

MAINTENANCE BODY ASSEMBLY
Tools required
Preparation:
Place left half of twistlock body
with shaft on base plate.
Place the ends of the spring on
the stoppers.
Place mouth of handle
on twistlock body.
Use allen key to secure right half
of twistlock body.

MAINTENANCE CONE ASSEMBLY
Tools required
Preparation:
Place upper spring into the hole. Attach spring tool to free
end of spring.

Tension the spring. Use allen key to mount yellow cone, keep the
spring tool between the halves as long as
possible.
