You have acquired a modern digital camera with excellent technical features andrespective accessories, which is
particularly easy to operate. Please study this information in detail observing, in particular, the safety instructions.
The camera comes with a 3-year warranty. You will need the enclosed warranty card
and your sales receipt in the event of the camera developing a fault.
Keep these in a safe place together with the Instruction Manual.
Please include the Instruction Manual when passing on the camera to a third party.

3. Hazard, safety and warning notices
Incorrect use of the camera and accessories can be dangerous for you and others and can
damage or destroy the camera. We therefore ask you to read and strictly observe the follow-
ing Hazard, safety and warning notices.
Intended use
This camera is intended for taking digital photos and videos. It has been designed for private use and is not suitable for
commercial purposes
Hazards for children and persons with limited ability to operate
electronic equipment
Caution! Danger of suffocation! Packaging material is not a toy for children. Children can suffocate from plastic bags, foil
and polystyrene parts. These should therefore always be kept away from children.
The camera and accessories may not be used by persons (including children) with impaired physical,sensory or mental
ability, lack of experience and/or lack of know-how, unless they are supervised by another person
responsible for their safety or unless they have been instructed in how to use the camera. Children should be supervised
to ensure that they are not playing with the camera.
Electrocution hazard in wet and humid conditions
Do not expose camera and accessories to dripping or spray water. Also do not place any containers filled with liquid,
such as vases or glasses on top or immediately next to the device. Danger of fire and electrocution.
Protect camera against wetness and moisture in particular during rain, snow, at the beach or near water.
Do not use camera in environments exposed to high humidity or considerable amounts of steam, smoke or dust.
Danger of fire and electrocution.
Electrical hazard
Switch off camera if a foreign body or liquid has entered the camera. Wait until completely dry, there is danger of fire
and electrocution.
Switch off and remove battery if camera has fallen or if housing is damaged, there is danger of fire and electrocution.

The camera may not be dismantled, modified or repaired, there is danger of fire and electrocution.
Only use the supplied USB mains adapter with the mains voltage specified on the rating plate, there is danger of fire and
electrocution. Disconnect from mains by pulling plug out of mains socket.The plugged-in USB mains adapter can continue to
consume power and represent a hazard source.
The mains adapter may not be used during thunderstorms, danger of electrocution.
Damage from heat - re hazard
Do not leave camera in places that are susceptible to considerable increases in temperature (e.g. a vehicle).The
housing and internal parts may be damaged, which in turn could cause a fire.
Do not wrap up camera or place on textiles.This could produce a build-up of heat in the camera that can cause defor-
mation of the housing and may represent a fire hazard.
Hazards of using the lithium-ion battery
Remove batteries from camera if camera is not used for some time.
Do not remove battery immediately after camcorder has been used for a longer period of time. Batteries may become
hot during use.
Risk of explosion in case of incorrect changing of battery or use of wrong type of battery. Always check correct
polarity when inserting the battery. Only use MAGINON Lithium-Ion battery NP45, 3.7 V / 700 mAh, VG0376122700003
(battery name DS-5370) or a Lithium-Ion battery with the same specification.
Never expose batteries to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight, fire, etc., there is danger of fire.
Keep battery out of reach of children.
Consult doctor immediately if battery has been swallowed.
Do not throw battery into fire, short-circuit battery or take battery apart. Danger of explosion.
Battery must be disposed of in line with the Battery Directive.
If leaking, remove battery from the camcorder using a cloth and dispose of correctly.
Avoid battery acid coming into contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse eyes with plenty of water and contact
doctor immediately. In case of contact with skin, wash area with plenty of soap and water.
Removebatteriespriortodisposingofthecamera.

Injuries and material damage
Only place camcorder on sturdy surfaces. The camcorder could otherwise fall or topple over, causing damage or injury.
Do not operate camcorder whilst running or driving.You could fall or cause a traffic accident.
Only use USB power adaptor specified for the camcorder. No liability shall be accepted for damage caused by the use
of an incorrect USB power adaptor.
The 230V socket used for the power supply must be accessible at all times so that the power supply can be quickly
disconnected from the mains if necessary.
Ensure adequate ventilation and do not cover the power supply (not supplied) to prevent overheating.
Do not place any open ignition sources, such as lit candles onto or close to the device.
Ensure that the LCD monitor is not exposed to impacts or concentrated pressure.This can damage the glass of the
monitor or liquid can escape from inside the camera. In case of the liquid coming into contact with the eyes or skin, rinse
immediately with clear water. In case of contact with the eyes obtain medical treatment immediately.
Damage to the electronics, display or lens caused by external influences, such as electric shocks, falls or others are not
covered by the warranty and shall thus be charged for.
Do not activate flash close to other persons’eyes, as this could damage eyes.
Do not drop or bump camcorder and always handle with due care as the camcorder could otherwise be damaged.

5. Start
Preparation
1. Where applicable, remove protective foil from
monitor by pulling at protruding edge. Secure
carrying strap. The supplied carrying strap is
secured to the respective xing on the side of
the camera. First push the short loop of the strap
through the eyelet and then the strap itself.
2. The base of the camera contains the compart-
ment for inserting the battery and the memory
card. Open the compartment by pushing the
slider from the “LOCK” to the “OPEN”position. The
ap opens automatically.
3. Insert battery. Slide battery with gold contacts facing forwards and printed side facing
the monitor into the battery compartment until it snaps in.

Hinweis:
• Topreventimportantdatafrombeingaccidentally
deleted from the SD/SDHC memory card, the write
protection (on side of SD/ SDHC memory card) can be
set to the ”LOCK“ position.
• Removethewriteprotectiontosavethelesto
a SD/SDHC memory card or edit or delete them.
• Toavoiddamagetothememorycard,switchcameraobeforeinsertingorremovingthememorycard.If
theSD/SDHCmemorycardisinsertedorremoved,whilstthecameraisswitchedon,thecameraswitcheso
automatically.

4. The memory card (SD/SDHC/SDXC card) is inserted in the small compartment next to the
battery. Slide memory card with the gold contacts rst and with the printed side facing
the lens into the card compartment until it snaps in.
Format memory card in camera before using it for rst time with the camera (see page
20, Formatting the memory card).
5. Once the battery and memory card has been inserted, close the cover and slide to “Lock”
position. The catch engages and secures the compartment.

Charging the battery
The battery is not fully charged in the new camera. Fully charge camera and use it for the
rst time until fully discharged in order to optimize its capacity and service life.
1. Switch o camera
2. Connect camera with USB cable to USB
mains adapter.
3. Plug mains adapter into socket with an
AC current according to the rating plate
of the USB mains adapter.
4. Battery charging commences automatically.
The battery can also be charged via the USB
connection to the computer:
1. Switch o camera.
2. Connect camera with USB cable to computer.
3. Battery charging commences automatically.
The status display LED at the rear of the camera shows the following charging statuses:
The camera cannot be used during charging.
If charging is started without inserted battery or with an unsuitable battery, the LED is
switched o.

Initial settings
Language, date and time must be reset in the following situations:
When the camera is switched on for the rst time.
When the camera is switched on again after it has not been supplied with battery
power for a certain time.
1. Press the ON/OFF button to switch on camera.
2. Use the / / / buttons to select the desired language and then press the SET
button.
3. You can then set the date and time.
4. Use the / buttons to select the date, date format or time function you wish to enter
and change the values with the / buttons.
5. Once the date and time have been set correctly change with the / buttons to
“Accept” and press the SET button to save.
6. The camera then changes to the recording mode.
Note:
• Iftherecordingmodeisalreadyactivatedwhenthecameraisswitchedon,setdate,timeandlanguageas
described in the following sections.
Note:
• Thesuppliedpowersupplydiersfromoneregiontothenext,dependingwhereitispurchased.
• Thedurationofchargingdependsontheambienttemperatureandtheremainingcharginglevelofthe
battery. An empty battery is charged in about 3-4 hours.
• ThesuppliedLithium-Ionbatterycomeswitha6-monthwarranty.

Setting date and time
Follow the below steps to set the date and time.
1. In Photo or Playback mode press the SET button.
2. Use the / buttons to select MENU and select SET.
3. Use the / buttons in the menu to select the Setup menu.
Now determine the order in which the day, month and year are displayed in the date.
4. Use the / buttons to select [date format] and press SET button to conrm.
5. Use the / buttons to select the order
“YY/MM/DD”, “MM/DD/YY“ or “DD/MM/YY“ and conrm by pressing the button.
6. Use the / buttons [SET] to select the date and time value to be entered and press
SET.
7. Use the / buttons to select the date and time value to be entered and change it
using the / button.
8. To save the settings go to Accept and press the SET button.

Language selection
Select the language in which menus and messages will be displayed on the LCD display.
1. In Photo or Playback mode press SET button.
2. Use the / buttons to select MENU and select SET.
3. Use the / buttons in the menu to select the Setup menu.
4. Select [language] using / buttons and press SET button.
5. Select the desired language using / / / buttons.
The following languages are available:
German, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Danish
6. Press SET button to save settings.

Formatting a memory card
This function formats the memory card and deletes all images contained thereon.
1. In Photo or Playback mode press SET button.
2. Use the / buttons to select MENU and select SET.
3. Use the / buttons in the menu to select the Setup menu.
4. Select [Formatting] using the / buttons and then conrm by pressing the SET
button again.
Select [Cancel] and press the SET button to cancel the operation..
Note:
• Caution:Formattingirretrievablydeletesallphotosandlmsonthememorycard–evenphotosthatare
protected against deletion (see page 42). Prior to formatting, all important data should therefore be backed
up to a computer.
• Writeprotectedmemorycardscannotbeformatted.
