WARNING
This man al provides all necessary information to install the
prod ct in a few steps, and to s pport the ser d ring the vehicle
first gas analysis.
For f rther information, also concerning merely technical iss es, please refer
to the 1161061-0 ser man al contained in the s pplied CD, where yo can
find more detailed information on the themes that are shortly handled in this
doc ment.
2 Warranty
2.1 Warranty Coverage
Magneti Marelli After Market Parts and Services (MM AM P&S) warrants the
Prod ct for 24 (Twenty fo r) Months starting from the date of the Prod ct’s
activation or the date of the original p rchase t rning o t by the P rchase
Doc ments. Any operation performed nder the Warranty Period, doesn’t
extend the Expiry date of the Warranty.
2.2 Repair & Replacement
The Warranty incl des the Repairing or Replacement of the original
Components which ,by the nchangeable sentence of MM AM P&S, came
o t fa lty from the Man fact rer, ca se man fact re defects or flaw material.
The Warranty doesn’t incl de the complete Eq ipment.
The Repairing nder Warranty is being carried close the Service Assistance
Department indicated by MM AM P&S.

The Warranty excl des the repairing close the C stomer.
The Service Assistance Department doesn’t g arantee any Repairing Time,
b t is engaged to repair the Eq ipment as soon as possible.
2.3 Remedy
To take advantage of the Warranty, the C stomer has to send the Prod ct in
‘Carriage Paid Shipment’ to the Service Assistance Department indicated by
MM AM P&S, as soon the problem has been forwarded to the Service
Assistance Department.
The Prod ct m st to be packed properly and safely, in order to avoid possibly
damages d ring the transport.
MM AM P&S shall not be nder liability in respect of possible damages
arising from the transport.
The Prod ct sent nder Warranty m st to be provided by the copy of the
P rchase Doc ment.
The Prod ct will be ret rned back to the C stomer in ‘Carriage Forward
Shipment’.
2.4 Warranty Exclusions
The Warranty does not extend to degraded Parts ca sed by the wrong sing
of the Eq ipment d e to working condition o t of the Technical Specifications.
The Warranty will be not extended to Prod ct in the following cases:
• Transport Damages d e to the inappropriate package
• Wrong se of the Prod ct
• Th nderbolt, Tempest, Explosion, Flood, Fire
• Inappropriate Installation or Maintenance
• Mechanical Damages
• Set p carried o t by a non-a thorized Personnel
• Repairing and Replacement or prod ct Modification carried o t by a
non-a thorized Personnel
• Use of not original Parts
• Damages d e to H midity, D st, Power S pply Leakage or High
Voltage, and any others abnormal conditions
• Eq ipment se into inappropriate places
• Any kind of Display damages
• Any kind of Action or Event not attrib table to the MM AM P&S S.p.A
liability

In case of the Prod ct sent for Repairing is not nder Warranty, the C stomer
will be advised and will have to a thorized the Repairing o t-of-Warranty.
The cost of the Repairing will be charged to the C stomer.
In case of nj stified demand of Warranty, the labor cost for checking and
verifying the Prod ct will be charged to the C stomer.
3 Product installation
Take the instrument out of the package and follow the procedure to
carry out a vehicle first exhaust gas analysis in ten minutes.
3.1 Power supply
The device shall be powered thro gh the network cable s pplied with the
package.
Insert the s pply cable in the o tlet placed in the instr ment rear side, as
shown in the pict re below.
T rn on the instr ment by p shing the rocker switch near the o tlet.

3.2 Function eys
3.3 Gas probe connection
The gas analysis probe feat res a
metallic nozzle collecting the gases,
and shall be inserted in the vehicle
exha st pipe, whereas the other side
shall be connected to the analyzer.
The instr ment gas inlet is sit ated
on the condensate separator.
Connect the gas sampling probe as
shown in the pict re.

3.4 Probe connection: temperature and rpm
The ports where to connect the
probes (option) are placed on the
instr ment rear side.
In partic lar, the D-s b connector
marked with the symbol “°C” shall be
sed to connect the temperat re
probe, whereas the "RPM" marked
one for connecting the rev co nter
with pliers or the M.C.T.C.NET one of
the rs232 type.
4 Gas analyzer use
Upon analyzer Smart Gas switch on the display will show a short introd ction
message, then the analyzer enters a tomatically in the main page where it is
possible to select the type of test to be carried o t.

From the main selection page it is possible to gain access to the:
- Free page: to read the exha st and engine principal val es (engine
temperat re and rpm).
- Mandatory emission test: for the f el vehicles mandatory emission test.
- Official proced re: to carry o t the test in accordance with the most
recent Standards in matter of gas analysis.

4.1 Free page
Press the ENTER key (↵) on the main men to enter in “Free page”.
After t rning on the instr ment, the warm p phase begins (“WARM UP”); it is
necessary to wait for the analysis cell to be properly warmed p before going
on with the test. D ring this phase the analyzer p mp is off.
D ring the analyzer warm p, the display will show the wording “Please
wait” and a bar will indicate the operation progress.
The warm p average time is of 3-5 min tes depending on the environment
temperat re.
At the end of the “WARM UP”, the p mp t rns on, and the display shows the
message “Analyzer reset in progress, please wait”.
After abo t 30 seconds the gas val es will appear as shown below:

Insert the gas sampling probe in the exha st pipe of a f el vehicle to get the
gas analysis in real time.
Wait at least 30 seconds for the gas val es stabilization,
then press ENTER (↵) and PRINT to print the res lts.

4.2 Light test and gas official procedure
To carry o t tests in "Official proced re" or for the "Light Test" it is necessary
to se the rpm and temperat re probes.
If, for technical reasons, sho ld it not be possible to se them, it is possible to
man ally enter all data in the analyzer.
4.2.1 Preliminary steps
“Mandatory emission test”: yo will be asked to select the vehicle engine
type, (for any detail on the categories, please refer to page 38 of the ser
man al).

4.2.2 Test start
If the vehicle has a do ble f el system, the ser shall select the primary and
the secondary f el.
Select the n mber of the exha st pipes.
After having entered all data, the analyzer will carry o t two checking tests of
the pne matic system:
- HC test
- Seal test

4.2.3 HC test
It checks the presence of hydrocarbons inside the gas sampling probe.
Warning: do not insert the gas sampling probe in the vehicle exha st pipe
d ring this test.
4.2.4 Leak test
It checks the analyzer pne matic seal by creating a vac m in the pne matic
circ it.
To carry o t the test in a tomatic mode, the ser shall close the sampling
probe and wait for a few seconds.
Sho ld the test res lt be negative, then the instr ment will not start the
Official Test or the Mandatory emission test.
4.2.5 Test execution
Follow the displayed instr ctions.
Once the gas sampling probe has been introd ced, the programme
a tomatically displays the steps to be followed.
Bring the engine rpm to the indicated range and wait for the gas stabilization.
At the end of the test, if the engine rpm val es have not been properly
detected, it is necessary to enter them man ally.
The test res lt is displayed at the end of it.
Press the key ↵ to go on.

4.2.6 Print report
Select the "Print" item and confirm it with the key

Enter the vehicle data: make, model, n mber plate,
frame n mber, mileage, year of first registration.
Lastly, enter the name of the technician that carries o t
the test.
4.3 Analyzer configuration
Enter the config ration men when yo want to change the settings (date and
time modification), and each time yo modify the sed config ration (for
example, when yo pass form a rev co nter with pliers to a M.C.T.C.NET
one).
4.3.1 Workshop data set-up
Press the F key pon instr ment initial message display, or "ESC" twice if yo
are in the test type selection page.

5 Use of the instrument through PC ith serial connection
The instr ment is set to be connected to an external control system s ch as a
Comp ter. The connection can be wireless (Bl etooth) or made with cables.
As for the Bl etooth connection, the instr ment m st be eq ipped with a
s itable internal Bl etooth mod le.
When the instr ment recognizes the presence of an external device, the
display shows the message "PC Control" and from now on the instr ment will
be controlled thro gh the comp ter programme. To enable the instr ment to
the external comm nication with a comp ter it is necessary to be in the main
men page:

When yo are carrying o t the meas rement detection, the read gas val es
will remain displayed to facilitate the operation when yo are connected with
a comp ter.
Once the comm nication with the Comp ter is interr pted, the instr ment can
be "locally" re sed only after pressing the ESC key.
WARNING: if d ring comm nication yo press any keys of the instr ment
keyboard, the comm nication between PC and instr ment will be interr pted.
IMPORTANT
If yo decide to se the instr ment also thro gh the Comp ter, it is important
to know what follows:
3. the expiry dates stored inside the instr ment are those set in the
Comp ter config ration programme. The expiry date is set in the
instr ment at each connection;
4. the instr ment serial n mber indicated in the Comp ter config ration
programme is displayed on the analyzer. Therefore, it is not necessary
to man ally enter this dat m in the PC config ration software.
The serial n mber is read by the analyzer each time an official test is
carried o t thro gh the PC.

6 PC soft are installation procedure

on the CD.
Upon programme starting the
window shown in the figure will be
displayed. Select the second item
for the installation of the Greek
version.
Select the first item for all the other
kinds of installation.

Bluetooth option, select the third
item in order to install the Bluetooth
Pairing module.
This module allows for an easier
configuration procedure of the
products sold with the onboard
Bluetooth option.
It associates the serial

8 Using the Bluetooth Pairing module
In case the product is fitted with Bluetooth communication system with commercial
Bluetooth module installed on the PC, the wireless module shall be configured in order to
associate the serial communication port.
Insert the Bluetooth module in a free USB
port of the PC
Make sure that the Bluetooth icon is
present in Windows Task Manager next to
the time.
If Bluetooth system has been correctly
installed the icon will be blue and white,
otherwise it will be blue and red.
Make sure that the bluetooth tools are N
and that the commercial Bluetooth module
is present on the PC

Install the Bluetooth Pairing module
present on the CD.
At the end of the installation the
programme will automatically launch the
search for nearby devices.
Select the required language.
nce the search is ended, the window
shown in the figure will be displayed. If
one or more products have been found in
the area they will be highlighted in black,
otherwise the writings will stay grey.
In order to match a serial port with the
device found it will be sufficient to tick its
name.

9 Instrument cleaning
Warning: do not carry out any cleaning operation when the instrument
is working.
Proceed as follows to clean the instr ment:
Make sure that the m ltiple o tlet switch is OFF.
WARNING: Do not clean the inside part of
the condensate separator chambers with
alcohol.
Check the filter (see pict re below) placed on the sampling probe and change
it if the filtering side gets contin o sly dirty (part n mber FILTROGAS-01).
