Bathing Cushion as laid out in these instrucons. If you have any concerns about an exisng
medical condion aecng your ability to safely operate the Bathing Cushion, consult a health

• The independence that the Bathing Cushion provides does not negate the need to ensure that
adequate assistance is on hand in case it is required. It is advisable that a telephone or other
means of communicaon is taken into the bathroom when bathing without assistance. As with
all mechanical and electrical devices, unforeseen breakdowns can occur and so whilst in the
unlikely event that there is a malfuncon of the Bathing Cushion, a method of summoning
adequate assistance should be available.
• Do not operate the Airo compressor in the presence of ammable anaesthec mixtures with
air, oxygen or nitrous oxide, as these mixtures can create a combusble environment leading
to the potenal for re or even an explosion in the presence of a spark.
• Do not use the Bathing Cushion if under the inuence of alcohol or if taking medicaon which
may aect your ability to exercise judgment, coordinaon or motor control.
• The Bathing Cushion should only be used as a bathing aid, NEVER use it out of a bath. NEVER
use the Bathing Cushion to climb in or out of the bath. NEVER use it as a step, stand or as a

• Do not use the Bathing Cushion as a support to steady yourself when cleaning the bath or

• The Bathing Cushion should only be used for its stated purpose and should not be modied in
any way.
• Ensure that when in use, the Airo compressor, the hand control lead and air hose are laid out
in such a way as to avoid any risk of tripping or strangulaon.

• To ensure full stability when in use, make sure that the sides of the Bathing Cushion touch the
sides of the bath when fully inated.
• Remove any non slip mats from the area where the sucon cups will be posioned.
• Ensure that any oil and soap residue is removed from the Bathing Cushion and bath. Pay
parcular aenon to the sucon cups and oor of the bath. Ensure that the sucon cups
adhere rmly to the bath before each use. The sucon cups may not adhere to the surface in
baths that have been re-enamelled or that have rippled or textured surfaces. Do not use if the
sucon cups do not adhere to the bath.
• ALWAYS INFLATE THE BATHING CUSHION AND USE THE BATHING CUSHION TO LOWER
YOURSELF INTO THE BATH. This allows the micro processor in the Airo to calculate the
required baery power to raise the Bathing Cushion and if it calculates that there would be
insucient power, it will not allow the hand control to operate the down funcon.
• To maintain stability, DO NOT try to lower yourself into the bath or raise yourself from the
boom of the bath unl you are IN AN UPRIGHT SEATED POSITION CENTRALLY AND RIGHT TO
THE BACK OF THE SEAT SO THAT YOU ARE TOUCHING THE BACKREST (see gs. 6 & 9).
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, NEVER recharge the baery in the bathroom, outdoors or in
a damp environment.
• Do not use any other air supply to inate the Bathing Cushion.
• The sucon cups contain Latex. Users with an allergy to Latex should take parcular care to
avoid prolonged contact with the sucon cups. The sucon cups are situated at the base of
the seat and are not normally in direct contact with the user during use.
CAUTIONS (Risk of possible problems including device malfuncons, device failure,
damage to the device or damage to other property)
• Only recharge the baery with the Mangar Internaonal baery charger supplied with the
Airo compressor.
• To prevent damage, always release the sucon under each sucon cup before liing the Bathing
Cushion from the bath. Do not aempt to release the sucon by pulling up on the seat, backrest
or ‘handle’.
• Never use hot air to dry the Bathing Cushion following cleaning as this may aect the integrity
of the welded seams and fabric and lead to premature failure of the cushion resulng in an
inability of the cushion to raise you from the bath.
• Disconnect the Airo compressor from the Bathing Cushion before transporng so as to avoid
accidental inaon of the cushion.
• Do not use bath addives containing peanut oil as this can damage the sucon cups. If such
addives have been used, ensure that the sucon cups are thoroughly wash and rinsed to
remove residues.

Intended use
The Bathing Cushion is intended solely for use as a bathing aid to assist a person to lower
themselves into and out of a bath. Users should have sucient upper body strength to be able
to hold the sides of the bath for added support if required. The Bathing Cushion is not intended
for any other use and should never be used outside of a bath. When properly maintained, the
Bathing Cushion will give many years of trouble free service.
Construction
The Bathing Cushion is constructed from a very strong polyurethane coated nylon material which
has been precision cut into panels and then joined together by high frequency welding. This
produces a very strong light weight and air ght construcon. The Bathing Cushion incorporates
an air pressure relief valve which will not allow the cushion to be over inated by the Airo Mk3
compressor.
Power is provided by the Mangar Internaonal
Airo Mk3 baery powered compressor.
PLEASE READ the separate Airo Mk3
compressor instrucons before using your
Bathing Cushion.
