IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage when using this Electric Appliance, basic safety precautions should always
be followed. You can get total satisfaction from your Manttra Chef-Xpress Electric Pressure Cooker if you follow the simple
instructions given below:
1. Read all instructions carefully, paying special attention to section on “How to use your Programmable Electric Multi Cooker”.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug, the electric unit (plastic base) and base of pot in water or any other
liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is in use by or near children.
5. Disconnect from outlet when not in use and before cleaning the appliance. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
6. Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any
manner. Call our toll free number for information, or return the appliance to the Manttra Inc. for examination, repair, or
adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
8. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
9. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
10. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

11. Extreme caution must be used when moving the pressure cooker (pot & lid) containing hot liquids and do not move the electric
unit when in use.
12. To connect, plug the power cord in the wall outlet. To disconnect, press CLR/OFF button, then remove the plug from wall outlet.
13. When finished, press CLR/OFF button until the indicator goes off and then remove the power cord from the wall outlet.
14. Do not use the Electric pressure Cooker for other than intended use.
15. This Electric appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain the cooker is properly
closed and placed in position before operating.
16. Do not immerse the electric unit in water/wash.
17. Do not use any other cooking pot other than the cooker body/insert provided with the appliance.
18. Do not fill the cooker to more than two thirds of its capacity. For solids like rice, meat and vegetables, which expand during
cooking, do not fill the unit over half full. Overfilling may cause a risk of clogging the vent tube and developing excess
pressure. See section on “How to use your programmable electric multi cooker”.
19. Do not pressure cook foods such as applesauce, cranberries. pearl barley, oatmeal or other cereals, split peas, noodles,
macaroni, rhubarb or spaghetti. These foods tend to foam, froth and sputter and may block the pressure release device.
20. Always use the pressure cooker with adequate liquid other than oil. Do not allow the cooker to boil dry.
21. Always check the pressure release device for clogging and keep the space around the safety plug on the inside of the lid clean
before use.

22. Do not release the pressure using the Quick Release System (QRS) feature while the pressure cooker is placed in the electric
unit. When you release the pressure, release the steam gently when cooking rice, lentils/beans as the liquid may froth over.
When using the QRS feature, please note that steam will issue and therefore to avoid serious injuries or burns, keep bare skin,
face and eyes away from the steam release valve. Do not use the Quick Release System for foods with a lot of liquid, as there
could be an overflow.
23. Do not attempt to force the lid open or change the pressure settings when the unit is in use and until the inside pressure is
safely released.
24. Do not use this appliance for pressure frying with oil or shortening.
25. Always turn the appliance off and disconnect from wall outlet when cleaning. Clean the surfaces of the plastic parts with a soft
damp cloth. Cleaning the body with organic solvents like thinner or benzene will damage the surfaces. Do not allow liquid /
water to enter the control column.
26. Do not remove the pressure regulator from the lid till the lid is removed from the cooker.
27. Do not lift the pressure cooker using the lid handle.
28. Do not attempt to force the VPI down, when the cooker is under pressure.

WARNING:
This appliance generates heat and escaping steam during use. Use proper precautions to prevent risk of burns, fires, or other
injury to persons or damage to property.
General Information:
This is a 120 volts, 1250 watts appliance.(See label on the product) To avoid electrical circuit overload, do not operate it on the circuit
with another high wattage appliance. Plug the cord into a 120 VoltsAC outlet.The cord length of this appliance was selected to reduce the
possibility of dangling. If more cord length is needed use an Underwriters Laboratories’ listed extension cord rated no less than 15 amps
and 120 volts. When using an extension cord, be sure not to let it dangle where someone could accidentally pull or trip over.
Electrical Requirements:
This appliance must be supplied with the proper voltage and connected to an individual, properly grounded branch circuit rated at not
more than 20 Amps. protected by circuit breaker or fuse.
Electrical Power:
The built in heater capacity is 4250 B.T.U./ hour for 1250 watts.
Consumer safety Information:
This appliance is equipped with a grounded type 3 wire cord (3 prong plug). This plug will only fit into an electrical outlet made for a 3
prong plug. This is a safety feature. If the plug should fail to fit the outlet, contact an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do not
attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the grounding pin part of the 3 prong plug.
Cleaning:
Do not immerse in water/wash the plastic base and the base of the pot. Before cleaning, always be sure to have the appliance disconnected
from the wall outlet.. The best way to keep it clean is to wipe away any spills, spatter after each use with a damp cloth. Ensure that the
damp cloth used is not dripping wet. After cleaning, blot dry the plastic parts with a paper towel or sponge.
