Martin Yale Industries 912 User manual

I
The following instructions are for the removal of the feed assembly on the 912
checksigner. Please note that only a qualified field technician should perform this
procedure and damage to the machine may result if done improperly.
If there are any concerns on whether the following procedure should be
performed, please contact the technical service department at Martin Yale Industries,
Inc. at 260-563-0641.
NOTE: All power to the unit should be locked out before performing. If not, there
is a risk of electric shock.
The following tools will be needed:
1. Martin Yale Industries, Inc. ¼” security socket (MRS012014).
2. Set of standard Allen wrenches.
3. Medium size Phillips head screw driver.
4. ¼” Security driver.
NOTE: Other tools may be necessary to work on the assembly.
INITIAL DISASSEMBLY
1. Begin by removing the outer cover of the unit. This includes the left and right
side cover and the hood/bezel assembly. (see photo on next page)
NOTE: It is a good habit to draw a diagram of where the screws on the unit are
located. On each panel, there is a single screw with a star washer, which is used
for a ground. These should be installed back into their original location. There
will be a combination of both security screws and different sizes of Phillips
heads.

2. Loosen the setscrew in both the signature plate drum and the platen. Slide both
components to one side of the unit. This will allow access from behind to the
connection cable for the paper sensor.
3. Disconnect cable from sensor by wiggling loose the 3-prong connector.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, be sure not to tug on the wires
themselves. The connection should be removed at the housing. This can be
accomplished by wiggling the connector end backand forth without pulling on
the wires. A weak wire could cause sporadic operation of the unit.
Remove both side covers and bezel
assembly before removing feed drive.

and bottom of the machine in one

Disconnect the paper sensor
from behind, before
attempting to remove the feed
assembly.

4. Once connection is dislodged, the two Allen screws in the left and right side of
the feed assembly can be removed (see photo).
NOTE: The right side of the feed assembly has washers and spacers. These
should be reinstalled on the proper side during reassembly. The screws on the
right side of the unit are also shorter than the screws on the left side, and may be
difficult to find inside their mounting hole.
5. With Allen bolts removed, the feed assembly can now be removed from the unit.
(see photo) This is best accomplished by rocking the assembly back and forth
until it dislodges. The retarder for the machine should be fully raised and feed
table removed before this is done.
NOTE: Depending on the age of the machine, there may be a detachable safety
plate at each end of the assembly. Should these come loose during removal
reposition them at the ends of the feed assembly before putting back together.
