Safety, convenience, and energy efficiency
AutoFLEX is about autonomy and flexibility. It is the simplest and most cost effective lighting
solution that delivers maximum energy efficiency without compromising safety or convenience.
It ensures all the light you need, when you need it, and provides full control over lighting use
in unoccupied spaces.
Ideal for all commercial and public areas
AutoFLEX technology is available in a range of quality luminaires ideal for commercial spaces,
access areas, or public areas such as car parks and storage areas. The range includes LED
Panels and Ceiling lights, as well as IP44 and IP66 battens. Emergency options are also
available.
Total compatibility
All AutoFLEX luminaire types are totally cross compatible. The system is a common platform
and works seamlessly across all the different types of fixtures in the range.
Easiest to install and program

Why
AutoFLEX system is easy to install. There’s no extra wiring or complicated software, all the
AutoFLEX technology is built into the fixture; just install the luminaires and set the parameters
with a hand held remote.
Fail safe design
An AutoFLEX system is robust. The failure of or damage to an individual fixture doesn’t bring
the system down. All fixtures work independently and the wireless mesh communication allows
otherwise normal operation to continue.
Quality lighting, quality light
AutoFLEX is a tried and tested technology but just as important is the quality of the luminaires
and the quality of the light they produce. Emlight luminaires use innovative designs focussed
on the best light outcomes in terms of performance, efficiency, glare, and eye-comfort light
colours. All AutoFLEX products use selected Grade Samsung LED chips exclusively.

AutoFLEX RF Mesh Communication
This example: Input in Group 1 fixture and sent to Group 5 fixtures. The patented AutoFLEX
RF Mesh technology allows luminaires to shareactivity and programming data, and to program
most functions from anywhere in the network.

Operational Overview
AutoFLEX autonomous lighting allows clients to have as much light as necessary when spaces
are occupied, and as little as possible when the spaces are unoccupied. Every AutoFLEX
luminaire has an occupancy sensor and wireless mesh network capability. This patented
communication technology allows the fixtures to grouped into convenient control groups and to
share operational commands and occupancy data.
Configuration and programming
Configuration and programming is provided by a handheld remote programmer (purchased
separately) and most functions controlled by connection to any fixture in the network. Each
programmer has the capacity for eight groups.
Installation
AutoFLEX luminaires have no special installation requirements. All they require is connection
to the power supply.
The AutoFLEX Handheld Remote Programmer
Allocation of groups
Group allocation is essential, or all the fixtures will be ON when there is any activity anywhere
in the areas covered by AutoFLEX. Creation of a grouping plan is recommended to facilitate
allocation of a group number to every luminaire (see simple examples pages 3 and 8 ).
Simply point the programmer at each fixture in turn and hold the relevant Group number until
the fixture flashes once to acknowledge receipt of the command. Repeat this with each fixture.
Fixtures can be members of multiple groups to better bridge transit spaces (see carpark
example page 8 ). To link to an additional Group the press SELECT and then the additional
Group number.
Operational Programming
There are five operational parameters than can be set for each group.
These are:
1. Operational Light level
2. Activity sensing range
3. Ambient light activation
4. Time until Standby
5. Standby Brightness
Where the factory default settings are not suitable, use a remote programmer to adjust via a
convenient fixture and then Sync and Save to the correct group ( see below).
The factory default settings are shown in the Table below.

The light level is adjusted on the centre ring, le and right for minimum and maximum, up and down for fine
adjustment.
a. Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
b. Point the remote programmer at a convenient fixture
c. Adjust the light to the level required for the target Group
Note: Dimming level can be set using the Sun Icon
Maximum or minimum seng can be achieved by pressing Min / Max
d. Move onto the next change or go straight to Sync / Save * see page 7
The moon sensor is a key part of the automaon process. Different circumstances require sensor range
adjustment. The actual distances will always be approximate. In every installaon there are many variable
environmental factors governing the effecve range.
a. Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
b. Point the remote programmer at a convenient fixture
(the same fixture if you are following on from other seng changes)
c. Select: Near (~ 1- 3 metre radius)
d. Medium (~3 - 5 metre radius)
e. Far (~ 5 - 8 metre radius)
f. Move onto the next change or go straight to Sync / Save * see page 7
Note: The Moon Sensor can be DISABLED for certain applicaons (Please see page 7)
The ambient light sensor ensures AutoFLEX only operates in the correct light condions for the circumstances.
a. Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
b. Point the remote programmer at a convenient fixture
(the same fixture if you are following on from other seng changes)
c. Select: Off (lights on regardless of the ambient light level)
Dusk (lights off unless light level drops below ~200lux)
Night (lights off unless light level drops below ~100lux)
d. Move onto the next change or go straight to Sync / Save * see page 7
The Hold me is the me the system remains at the set light level aer acvity in the group area ceases.
At the end of this me the light level drops to 50% for 30s warning prior to entering Standby mode.
a. Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
b. Point the remote programmer at a convenient fixture
(the same fixture if you are following on from other seng changes)
c. Select: 30 seconds
3 minutes
10 minutes
d. Move onto the next change or go straight to Sync / Save* see page 7
Standby is the AutoFLEX sleep mode. It will stay in this mode unl acvity is again detected. The light level
selected for Standby will depend on factors relevant to the locaon and circumstances.
a. Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
b. Point the remote programmer at a convenient fixture
(the same fixture if you are following on from other seng changes)
c. Select Off (luminaire will turn off)

d. Move onto the next change or go straight to Sync and Save* see page 7
This is where selecons are sent to the target groups or fixtures and saved as the operaonal sengs.
They can be saved to all groups, to individual groups, or somemes to an individual fixture only.
(a) To send a command to all Groups:
Press SELECT
Press ALL
Press and Hold SYNC unl the fixtures blink
(b) To send a command to a parcular Group:
Press SELECT

(c) To send to individual fixture only
Point the remote programmer at the fixture
Press and Hold SYNC unl fixture blinks
Note: To change sengs on mulple individual fixtures repeat (c)
The normal state is to have the sensor enabled. There may be occasions where the sensor may need
to be disabled during set up or on fixtures near doorways and thoroughfares where passing traffic is
causing unnecessary triggering of the group.
Ensure power to all luminaires in all groups
Point the remote programmer at the targeted fixture
(a) To Sync and Save to all Groups:
Press SELECT
Press ALL
Press ENABLE or DISABLE
(b) To Sync and Save to a parcular Group:
