HOW TO MEASURE GUIDE
Two side awning channels with openings are required to fit the cover as shown below:
To ensure you fit the correct size cover; measure the front of your caravan from awning
channel to awning channel as show below (points A –B). When measuring; make sure to
measure the largest profile of the caravan front (this is often around handles and storage
compartments etc).
Note –the awning channel maybe set back from your caravan; it is important to measure to the
channel not the corner.
MP9254 is for medium caravans with a front awning channel width range of 225cm
(7.38’) to 245cm (8’).
MP9255 is for large caravans with a front awning channel width range of 245cm (8’)
to 275cm (9’).

- Ensure the handbrake is applied and the corner steadies are down.
- It is preferable, but not essential that your caravan exterior is dry before fitting the front
towing cover.
- Your caravan front must be clean and completely free of dust and dirt. In the wind, the
abrasion caused by dust and dirt particles caught between the bodywork and cover will
leave scratch marks.
- Make sure the inside of the front towing cover doesn’t come in contact with the ground
to ensure it remains free of any dirt or grit which may cause damage when fitted.
SAFETY INFORMATION
- Do not over tension the straps as this may damage your front towing cover.
- To avoid any potential damage to the paintwork caused by material flapping in the
wind; make sure the cover is fastened securely with the straps fully tightened.
- If using stepladders or a platform you will be working at height and should follow
carefully the manufacturer’s safety instructions. You should not attempt to fit the cover
from the ladder and only use it if required to assist people on the ground.
Remove the cover from the carry bag and open it with the inner fleece side facing the caravan
front. Note –the side with the straps & Maypole logo is the exterior face.
To aid installation we recommend two people and the use of small steps or step ladders.
For ease of fitting; firstly loosen all of the side straps and buckles. Position the cover so the top
edge of the front face is just above the drawbar.
Slide the beading found at either side of the cover into the bottom opening of both front awning
channels:
With one person on each side of the caravan, slide the beading up both awning channels
evenly until the beading is completely within the channels. Pull back down into the bottom of
the channels –the cover should now sit on the drawbar. Sliding each side of the cover up
together so the top edge remains horizontal will make this easier:

FITTING THE COVER

4
It is important to ensure the cover is fitted centrally onto the front of the caravan.
To centralise the cover; make sure the top and bottom triangular reflectors are central on the
caravan above the drawbar:
The bottom of the cover should sit just above the central drawbar.
It maybe necessary to reduce the length of the awning beading strips to achieve this.
If this is the case; pull the lower end of the awning beading out of the channel and pull down
below the bottom end stop of the channel until the cover sits correctly on the drawbar. Cut off
the excess beading; and re-insert the end of the beading into the awning channel and pull
down to the end stop.
Note –measure this carefully before cutting.
Once central and with the cover sitting just above the drawbar; adjust the top straps to create
tension at the top of the cover.

5
Repeat this process for all side straps ensuring the cover remains central and evenly covering
the front of the caravan:
Once fully tensioned and in position; thread any excess webbing straps through both plastic
clips.
Locate a corner strap and insert the male buckle into the female buckle found at the bottom
of the cover:

6
Pass the strap under the body work of your caravan and attach the hook to a fixed metal
structure (eg a corner steady or chassis) as shown below:
Ensure it is secure and cannot become detached during your journey.
Secure the opposite male buckle to the female buckle at the corner of the PVC window:
If necessary; adjust the position of the cover to ensure the lights are visible through the PVC
window; fully tension and thread any excess webbing straps through both plastic clips:

7
Repeat with the opposite corner strap.
Locate the drawbar safety strap and insert one end into the female buckle found at the
bottom of the cover. Pass the strap under the drawbar and secure into the opposite buckle.
Fully tension and thread any excess webbing straps through both plastic clips:
WARNING –ensure the cover is secure and correctly fitted to your caravan before
starting your journey. Check frequently during your journey.
PLEASE NOTE –the front towing cover is designed to protect the front of your
caravan when being towed. It is not designed to be used as a storage cover. It is
advised the cover is removed and cleaned once you have reached your destination.
The process for removing the cover is the opposite of the fitting process.
Remove the cover carefully to prevent damage to the cover and your caravan caused by dirt
or grit which may have accumulated during your journey.
REMOVING THE COVER

8
- Allow the cover to dry completely before storing in the bag provided.
- Do not machine wash or tumble dry this cover. Remove dirt with a soft sponge and
warm water. DO NOT use detergent.
- Do not expose this cover to sparks, flames or other sources of ignition.
