Introduction
Congratulations on choosing McLELLAND HPD Series professional high power amplifier! The HPD
series power amplifier come with the Class AB design output circuitry and high-current toroidal
transformer to ensure generous energy reserves even at 2 ohm load, deliver a premium quality,
combine light weight and extremely high power, and plus even greater value.
Please take a few moments to read the entire manual, and be sure to retain this document for future
reference. Please read and observe all safety instructions detailed on each page.
Using the controls / Front Panel
1. Power: It is used to switch on/off the power amplifier. Press UP for ON position and press DOWN
for OFF position. Whenever the power amplifier is switched on, the POWER LED on front panel
will light on.
2. Volume Controls: These two rotary volume controls are used to separately adjust the output
volume of Channel A and Channel B. Turn them clockwise could raise the output volume and turn
them counter-clockwise could reduce the output volume. When in BRIDGED output mode, use
Channel A rotary volume control to adjust the BRIDGED output volume.
3. POWER LED indicator: It is used to indicate the working status of the amplifier. Whenever the
amplifier is switched on, the LED will light on.
4. Channel A & Channel B signal LED indicators: These LED indicators are used to indicate the
input status of Channel A and Channel B. Whenever an input signal is existed to the channels, the
corresponding LED will light on.
5. PROTECT LED indicator: It is used to indicate the status of protect function. The HPD series
high power amplifiers have totally five kinds of protections: Output DC offset protection, short
circuit protection, over temperature protection, clip limiting protection, and faulty load protection.
These protections will be automatically switched on if there is any faulty. Whenever the protection
is switched on the LED will light on.
6. BRIDGE LED indicator: It is used to indicate the working mode of the amplifier. The HPD series
high power amplifiers have two working modes including Stereo and Bridge. Whenever the
amplifier is switched to the Bridge working mode the LED will light on.
7. Channel A & Channel B Peak LED indicators: These LED indicators are used to indicate the
output level of the two channels. Whenever the output level reaches clip the corresponding LED
will light on.
