2�1 Intendeduse
This machine is an automated coffee machine for dis-
pensing coffee, coffee and milk, and milk products as
wellashotwaterwithincreaseddailyrequirementsfor
beveragesinthegastronomicsector.
Thefollowingoperatingmodesareavailable:

This machine is notintended for the following uses:

2�2 Safetyinformation
2�2�1 General
The following safety instructions relate to the machine
only.Theremayalsobelegalrequirementsplacedonthe
owner/operator, such as appropriate food hygiene and
worksafety.
• Only use the machine when you have read and
understoodtheinstruconsinfull.
• Onlyoperatethemachineobservingallinformaon
andguidelinesintheseinstrucons.
• Keep these instrucons at the place of use of the
machine�
2�2�2 Personnel
• Thismachineisonlypermiedtobeusedbychildren
of8yearsandoveraswellaspersonswithreduced
physical,sensoryormentalcapabiliesifsupervised
or trained in the safe use of the equipment�
• Children under 8 years of age must be kept away
from the machine�
• Children must not be permied to play with the
equipment�
• Cleaningandusermaintenancearepermiedtobe
carriedoutbychildrenonlyundersupervision.
• Persons with reduced experience and knowledge
must be able to recognise hazards arising from
incorrectoperaon.
• A user is only permied to operate the machine
without supervision if the machine has been
explainedtothatusertofacilitatesafeoperaon.
• In self-service operaon, the machine must be
supervisedbytrainedpersonnel.
• Repairs and maintenance work is only permied
tobecarriedoutbyMeliacustomerserviceorby
specialistpersonnelauthorisedbythemanufacturer.

2�2�3 Correctuse
• The machine can be damaged due to water
penetraon. The machine is not protected against
jets of water� Protect the machine against water and
andspraywater.
͵Neverhosedownthemachinewithwater.
͵Donotuseanywaterjets,highpressureorsteam
cleaners to clean the machine�
͵Themachine isnot suitableforinstallaonona
surface where a water jet might be used�
• When the machine is unaended for extended
periods,switchitoatthemainswitchandclosethe
water tap�
• Neveropenthecoversunlessexplicitlyinstructedto
doso.Similarly,neverremoveboltsandthehousing
partsaachedusingthem.Whentouchingliveparts
thereisadangerofdeathduetoelectricalvoltage.
• Never reach into a machine opening when the
machine is running�
• Doholdanybodypartsundertheoutletswhenhot
liquids or steam is being dispensed� This occurs in the
followingsituaons:
͵aerswitchingon,
͵whenbeveragesarebeingdispensed,
͵duringautomaccleaning,
͵during rinsing operaons (e.g. when switching
o)
• Donottouchanyhotparts.
• Whenproductsarebeingdispensed,thereisariskof
scaldingfromtheactualproducts.Alwaystakecare
whenhandlinghotbeverages.
• Take note of any visible damage or malfuncons.
Obvious malfuncons include water leaks, odours
andheatformaon,unusualnoisesaswellaserror
messagesonthedisplay.Intheeventofanyunusual
situaons:
͵Removethemainsplug,
͵Turnothewatersupply,
͵Contactcustomerservice,
͵Havethe machinecheckedand servicedbycus-
tomerservice.
• Cleanthe machineatleastonceperday,especially
the parts transporng milk. Impuries could cause
health problems�
• Comply with all intervals for cleaning, inspecon
and maintenance, as specied in the instrucons.
Otherwise, the safety, funconal reliability and
durabilitymaybeimpaired.

4 Installation
The machine and all attachments are set up and installed
bycustomerservicereadyforuse.Onlypermitchanges
to the installation or positioning to be carried out by
customerserviceduetotheassociatedhazards.
4�1 Prerequisites
Make sure that the following prerequisites are met before
youusethemachineandanyattachments:
4�1�1 Waterconnection
The water connection must be easy to turn off at any
timeduringoperation(stopvalve).Fortheconnectionof
thismachinetothewatersupply,allnationalregulations
mustbeobservedasappropriate,e.g.EN61770.
The limit values for water pressure and carbonate
hardnessasgiveninthetechnicaldatamustbeobserved.
Onlyuseanewtubeset.Oldorusedtubesetsarenot
permitted to be re-connected�
The water drain is only permitted to be installed via a
permanent connection with odour trap protected against
blockages and backflow�
This prevents contamination in the machine due to
backflow waste water�
4�1�2 Electricalconnection
Thesupplyvoltagemustmatchthespecificationsonthe
nameplate�
Thesupplylinemustbefuse-protectedbythecustomer
usingafaultcurrentcircuitbreaker(FCCB)(max.30mA).
When connected via a mains plug, the socket must be
easilyaccessibleduringoperationtoallowtheplugtobe
removedintheeventofanerror.
Duetothehighload,asinglesocketisrequiredforthe
machine and each attachment�
4�1�3 Installationlocation
Themachine mustonly beinstalledandusedinclosed
dryrooms,itmustnotbeoperatedoutdoors.
Theeffectsofhumidityandtemperaturemayadversely
affectthefunctionandsafetyofthemachine.
Themachineandallattachmentsmayonlybeinstalledor
stored at locations safe from freezing�
The installation location must provide adequate clear-
ances from walls and objects due to heat formation and
to operate the machine�

Ground coffee or instant powder must be suitable for use
incommercialcoffeemachines.Onlyusedryandloose
material without clumps�

4�2 Canisteroperation(option)
Ifyourmachinecannotbepermanentlyconnectedtothe
freshwaterandwastewatersystem,youcanalsooperate
it with two canisters�
Also observe the limit values for the water carbonate
hardness in this process. Where necessary, the
freshwatersupplymustbetoppedupviathewaterfilter
(e.g.BRITA-Purity).
The canisters are only permitted to be installed by
customerservice.
Note
Particular care with hygiene is required for
canisteroperation.Observetherelevantnotes
in Chapter 8�5 on page 23�

Indailyoperationthefreshwatercanistermustbefilled
with sufficient water and the waste water canister can be
drainedasnecessary.
4�2�1 Filling the freshwater canister
1� Unfasten the quick-connect coupling of the infeed
tube(1).
͵Movetheringbackwardsonthecouplingpiece.
͵Remove the plug connector from the coupling
piece�
2� Unscrewthecoverfromthecanister.
3� Clean the canister and its cover area before lling
with standard dishwashing agent and rinse the clean-
ingresiduesthoroughly.
4� Fill the canister with fresh water�
͵Observethelimitvaluesforthewatercarbonate
hardness.Wherenecessary,the freshwatersup-
ply must be topped up via the water lter (e.g.
BRITA-Purity).
5� Screwthecoverbackontothecanister.
6� Connectthesupplytube(1)tothecanister.
͵Fit the plug connector onto the coupling piece�
͵Checkthattheplugconneconissecure.
9Thefreshwatercanisterisreadyforoperaon.
4�2�2 Emptyingthewastewatercanister
1� Remove the discharge tube (2) from the canister
cove r.
2� Unscrewthecoverfromthecanister.
3� Emptythecanister.
4� Screwthecoverbackontothecanister.
5� Insertthedischargetube(2)throughtheholeinthe
canistercover.

5 Operation
Initialcommissioningiscarriedoutbycustomerservice.
If you want to put the machine back into operation
following a standstill, carry out a cleaning operaon as
described(seeChapter8onpage21).

Always use the "Clean and switch OFF" funcon. The
"Turn OFF" funcon is only permied to be used if a
cleaning process has been carried out and no further
productshavebeendispensed.

The coffee grounds drawer must be emptied when the
coffee grounds cannot be disposed of via the optional
container�
Whenthecoffeegroundsdrawerisnearlyfullorfull,this
isdisplayedviathefollowingsymbols:
When the grounds drawer is full, no more products
containing coffee can be dispensed� The products are
removedfromthedisplay.

5�5 Switchingthemilksystemonandoff(option)
Usethe"SwitchOFFmilksystem"funconifyoudonot
want to dispense milk products or if you want to take
themilk preparaon systemout ofservice temporarily.
