Scope and Purpose
The MC-20 fastener attaching machine is one of the most versatile machines produced by
Micron. The easy to use control panel with the accompanying foot pedal allows users to
quickly set up and make installations. Powerful enough to install large curtain grommets
into various materials, while having superb accuracy thanks to the laser light installed. This
machine can drastically increase the production of any workroom or production line that
it is placed in.
This manual is intended to be used during the initial setup of the MC-20, making the first
installations and to help troubleshoot problems you may face over the life of the machine.
Topics like constructing the table, changing dies and safety will be covered in an easily
digestible format for non-technical operators. Maintenance, repairs and replacing
components will be covered in a more technical manner but in great detail.
Setup Process Overview
During the initial setup of the MC-20, the machine’s table will have to be assembled. Then
the machine will have to be mounted and bolted onto the table. Once the MC-20 and its’
table are properly assembled, the dies will need to be installed. The approach to installing
the dies will vary slightly depending on the size and style of the fastener. You will need to
have a compressor ready to connect to the MC-20 with the hose that is provided. Next
plug the electrical cable into both the outlet and the machine. Ensure that the machine has
been switched on and the emergency stop button has not been depressed. Once these
steps are followed, the MC-20 will be ready for production.
1. Assemble the table and bolt the MC-20 to it.
2. Install the dies.
3. Connect the air hose, electrical cable and foot pedal.
4. Ensure the machine is on and the emergency stop button has not been depressed.
5. Begin installing fasteners.

User Manual / Setup Process Procedures
7/37
The following procedures will guide you step by step while you prepare the MC-20 for
operation. There are several phases but each can be quickly broken down and
accomplished. You will need a set of Allen keys and a set of pliers or the corresponding
wrench size for the nuts.
Assembling the Table and Mounting the MC-20
The following procedure will guide you through setting up the table and mounting the
MC-20. You will need a set of Allen keys and a set of pliers or the corresponding wrench
size for the nuts.
Remove all the contents of the box and layout and
floor
1. Open the rectangular box that contains the table pieces.
2. Remove all the protective packaging, stretch wrap and tape from the pieces.
3. The box contains the following items:
a. Short bolts (8)
b. Long bolts (4)
c. Metal legs (2)
d. Nuts (12)
e. Table (1)
f. Micron cross bars (2)

Assembling the Legs
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for the rear cross bar.
1. Stand both legs perpendicular to the floor and hold one of the cross bars between
the two. (Ensure “Micron” is oriented properly)
2. Align the holes on the cross bar to those of the legs.
3. Insert the short bolts from front to back and secure them with the nuts.

Securing the Table Top to the Legs
1. Place the table on top of the two legs. Ensure that the holes on the legs align
with those of the table.
2. Drop the four long bolts through the table and leg holes.
3. Secure the bolts with nuts.
4. The table is now complete.

10/37
1. The box containing the MC-20 must first have the protective cover removed.
1.1 Unscrew all the screws that border the bottom of the box.
1.2 Carefully lift the cover up and off of the machine.
1.3 The box should contain the following
i. MC-20 fastener attaching machine (1)
ii. Red bins (2)
iii. A box containing
1. Foot pedal (1)
2. Spacer bar (1)
3. Pneumatic hose (1)
4. Electrical cable (1)
2. Place the bins and the small box to the side.

6. The table and machine are now fully assembled.
4. Carefully place the machine onto the assembled table. Ensure that the holes on the
machine where the bolts were removed and the table’s holes are aligned.
5. Bolt the MC-20 onto the table with the bolts that were placed to the side.

User Manual / Pneumatic, Electrical and Foot Pedal Connections
13/37
The following procedure will guide you through connecting the MC-20 to an air
compressor and outlet.
MC-20 Pneumatic, Electrical and Foot Pedal Connections
Connecting to the Air Compressor
1. Within the small box found with the MC-20 is a length of pneumatic tubing. One end
is intended for the MC-20.
2. The second end needs to have an adapter securely placed on it. The adapter does not
come with the hosing and must be purchased separately. This end is then inserted into
the air compressor according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Turn the lever where the hose is inserted into the MC-20 so that it is parallel to the
fittings. This will allow air to flow into the machine.

MC-20
User Manual / Pneumatic, Electrical and Foot Pedal Connections
14/37
1. Unwrap the electrical cable that is within the small white box.
2. Insert the female end of the electrical cable into the rear of the machine.
3. Insert the male end of the electrical cable into the outlet.

15/37
1. The foot pedal has a special grove that will correlate to the grove in the port on the
machine.
Connecting the Foot Pedal
1. The port is located on the right hand side of the machine, towards the rear.
2. Slide the connector into the port and secure with the metal ring. Simply screw it on
clockwise.

MC-20
User Manual / Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
16/37
In this section, the installation of dies and adapters with dies will be covered. The
MC-20 can accommodate 2 sizes and styles for both the top insert and bottom insert.
Regardless of the dies that were purchased, your machine will come with adapters.
Each of the four die stems/posts are unique so figuring out what goes where is simple.
Follow the guide below to determine whether the die belongs in the bottom or top
insert. Some die sets may need one or both adapters.
Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
Our warehouse will typically ship the MC-20 with the dies already set into the
machine. For the purposes of this manual, the safety Mica has been removed for
clarity. It is not advised to remove the safety Mica when switching between dies.
Installing Dies with Adapters

MC-20
User Manual / Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
17/37
1. Slide the bottom die adapter into the bottom opening. Be sure to position the
slit perpendicular to the lower tension screw. Your machine may have the bottom
tension screw on the front or on the side.
2. Place the bottom die which has a 1/2 inch post into the bottom die adapter.

MC-20
User Manual / Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
18/37
1. Use an Allen key to tightly secure both the adapter and bottom die into the
machine.

MC-20
User Manual / Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
19/37
1. Take the upper die which will have a 1/4 inch threaded stem and screw it up
into the installed adapter.
3. Slide the upper die adapter up into the mill ensuring that the flattened
portioned is aligned with one of the two tension screws.
4. Use an Allen wrench to tightly secure the adapter.

MC-20
User Manual / Installing Dies and Adapters with Dies
20/37
1. Slide the bottom die into the bottom slot of the machine. If your bottom die has a
flat portion on it, ensure that this side is facing the tension screw.
2. Secure the bottom die into place by tightening the tension screw.
