This guide shows you how to operate the Take-it S3/D3 and provides information on basic functions, still
image shooting, movie/audio clip recording, playback, and troubleshooting.

Before ou use the camera, be sure to read the
following safet precautions, which detail the proper
operation of the camera and its accessories to prevent
injuries or damage to users or equipment.

Children should not be allowed to have access to
the camera. The could injure themselves with
inappropriate use of the camera or b becoming
entangled in the carr ing strap. If a child swallows a
camera batter , get the child medical attention.
Subjecting the camera to water or an other liquid,
or allowing condensation to form, ma start a fire or
give the user an electrical shock.
If liquid gets inside the camera, turn the camera
power off b removing the batter or unplugging the
power cord (with dr hands).
Allowing the camera to slowl adjust to temperature
changes (as in transferring the unit from outdoors to
indoors) will help to prevent condensation. Let an
condensation evaporate before using the camera.
Exposing the camera to too much heat ma warp
the camera casing or damage the batteries. Batter
damage ma result in fire, burns or electrical shock.
Another source of possible burns is heat from the flash
or camera itself.
Touching the flash after it has been used extensivel
can cause burns.
The camera bod itself ma burn our hands if the
camera has been operated for a length period of
time.
Safety Precautions

Do not drop batteries or let them be banged
around. This could damage the casings, causing the
batteries to leak.
If the internal parts or components of the batter
come into contact with our e es or our mouth,
flush the affected site with water and get medical
help.
Do not short-circuit the batter terminals, and be
sure to cover the terminals before ou throw
batteries awa . If the terminals contact metal, the
ma overheat and explode, causing a fire.
Black or bright (red, green, blue, and white) dots
ma sometimes appear on the LCD screen. These are
merel misfiring pixels, and have no effect on the
recorded image.
If ou aim the camera at the sun, or shoot the
flash close to someones e es, ou ma injure our
e esight or that of someone else.
If ou see smoke or smell a burning odor coming
from our camera, turn the camera off. If ou continue
to operate the camera, it could cause a fire or give ou
an electrical shock.
Do not clean the camera with flammable liquid, as
these ma cause a fire.
Do not leave the camera in humid or dust areas.
Dust and humidit can cause the camera to short
circuit, leading to a fire.
If the camera gets an where near a strong
magnetic field, it ma not work correctl , or the
pictures taken ma be ruined or adversel affected.
Use a soft, absorbent cloth to clean the surface of
our camera.

Getting Started
Loading the Battery
Use two AA-sized Alkaline batteries (supplied), or two
AA-sized Nickel Metal H dride (NiMH) batteries as the
power source for the camera.
1. Ensure that the camera is
turned off; then push the
batter cover in the
direction of the arrow to
open it.
Attaching the Stra
1. Thread the strap through
the camera strap ring as
shown.
2. Thread the other end of
the strap through the
loop.
NOTE:
Take care when carr ing the camera b the strap to prevent
the camera from banging onto other objects and to prevent
the strap from becoming tangled.
2. Load the batteries into the
compartment.
Ensure that the plus (+)
and minus () polarit of the
batteries matches the
polarit markings in the
batter compartment.
3. Hold the batter in place
and close the batter
cover securel .

To remove the batteries, open the batter cover and
take the batteries out. Make sure the camera is turned
off before removing batteries.
NOTE:
Do not mix old batteries with new ones.
Do not mix different t pes of batteries or batteries from
different manufacturers (brands).
Remove batteries and store them when not using the
camera to prevent the batteries from leaking and
damaging the camera.
For more information, see the Appendix Using the
Batter .
Checking Battery Status
When the camera is powered on, the batter status is
alwa s displa ed on the LCD screen, helping ou to
estimate batter life during shooting and use of the
camera. Check the batter status periodicall to ensure
that ou have a usable batter charge.
The batter status displa consists of a batter icon
showing differing levels of charging. When the batter
icon blinks and appears empt , this indicates that the
batteries need to be replaced or charged.
Full Batter is full charged
Half Batter approaches half-life
(blinking) Low Batter low; replace or recharge soon
External conditions or the t pe of batter used ma affect the
reliabilit of the batter status displa .

in the direction of the
arrow to close it.

To remove the SD card, open the SD card cover, push
the card in, and release; the card pops out.
NOTE:
Incorrect insertion of the SD card ma cause a memor
error, blocking ou from storing an data in the SD card.
You ma lose or damage data if ou remove the SD card
while it is in operation.
For more information, see the Appendix Using the SD
card.
Inserting the SD Card
A SecureDigital (SD) card (not supplied) can be used to
supplement the cameras internal memor . Images and
movie/audio clips are stored directl onto the SD card
when a card is installed. If a card is not installed,
images and movie/audio clips are stored in the cameras
internal memor . To install an SD card:
1. Make sure that the
camera is turned off, then
open the SD card cover.
2. Insert and push the SD card
into the compartment until
ou hear a click.
Ensure that the orientation of
the SD card matches the SD
card icon marking in the SD
compartment.
3. Close the SD card cover
securel .
4. Push the SD cover in the
direction of the arrow to
close it.

Turning the Camera On/Off
Press the POWER button to
turn the camera on.
When the camera is turned
on, the green READY LED
lights up, and the LCD screen
is activated.
Press the POWER button again
to turn off both the camera
and the LCD screen.
Camera Auto Power Off
In order to prolong batter life, the camera ma be set
to turn off automaticall if it is not in use for two
minutes. You can disable the auto power saving
function in the Setup menu mode (refer to page 47).
In the following two instances the camera will not turn
off, even if auto power saving is enabled:
Presenting a slide show
Connecting to a computer (through USB) or TV
(through video output)
If the camera turns off automaticall , pressing the
POWER button will turn the power back on.

Setting the Date and Time
DATE/TIME enables ou to set the date and time
setting. You should set the date and time when ou use
the camera for the first time.
To adjust the date setting:
1. Press the MENU button.
2. Use the / button to enter
the Setup mode ( ).
The cameras current settings
are shown on the LCD screen.
3. Press to enter the Setup
mode menu.
4. Use the / button to select
Date, then press to
enter the submenu.
5. Use the / button to toggle
through the , mm,
and dd formats.
The selected option is
highlighted with color.
6. Use the / button to adjust
the value.
7. Press the Shutter (OK) button
once ou have finalized the date setting.
8. Press the MENU button twice to exit the mode
menu.
To adjust the time setting:
1. In the Setup mode menu, use the / button to
select Time, then press to enter the
submenu.
2. Use the / button to toggle
through the hr, min, and
sec formats.
The selected option is
highlighted with color.
3. Use the / button to adjust
the value.
4. Press the Shutter (OK) button
once ou have finalized the
time setting.
5. Press the MENU button twice
to exit the mode menu.
NOTE: The date and time setting ma be shown incorrectl
if the camera has not been in use for a long time. Please
check the date and time setting and adjust accordingl .
