Whaisradar-videofusion?
Therearetwowaysthattheradardataisfusedwiththevideodatainthisproduct:
•Visualfusion:Theradardetectionsandclassicationsarefusedintothevideoimage.Thisisawaytovisualizetheradar
datainthevideostream.
Forexample,ifanobjectappearsat0m(164ft),itmaybetoosmallforthevideoanalyticstodetect,buttheradar
seesit.Inthatcase,theradardetectionsarefusedintotheimageplaneandcanbeusedtotriggeralarmsinsideAXIS
ObjectAnalytics.
•Analyticsfusion:Theradardetectionsandclassicationarefusedwiththedetectionsandclassicationsfromthevideo
analytics.Thisgivesthedeviceacombinedanalyticsoutputwheretherespectivestrengthsofbothtechnologiesare
merged:thedistanceandspeedfromtheradar,andthepositionandclassfromthevideo.
Withthesameexampleasabove,whentheobjectcomescloser,itisalsodetectedbythevideoanalytics.Theradar
detectionsarethenfusedwiththevideoanalyticsoutputtoproduceanoutputofhigherquality,andwithmore
information,thanwhatthetechnologiescanprovideseparately.

Therearealsootherdesignfactorstocheckwhenplacingtheradarsinasite,likethesurroundingenvironment,swayingobjects,ag
poles,andswayingvegetations.Insomecasesyouneedtolteroutswayingobjectsfromtheradarstreamtoavoidfalsealarms.
Youmayalsoneedtoconsiderthepositioningofthecamerasinrespecttoeachother.Youcaninstallupto8radarsclosetoeach
other,orfacingeachother,withoutcausingproblems.Thebuilt-incoexistencealgorithmcanndasuitabletimeandfrequencyslot
tooperateintominimizeinterference.
Ifinaninstallationcontainsmorethan8AXISQ166-DLE,andmanyofthedevicesarepointingawayfromeachotherthenthereis
lessriskofinference.Ingeneral,radarinterferencewillnotcausetheradartostopfunctioning.Thereisabuilt-ininterference
mitigationalgorithmthatsuppressesfalsedetectionsduetointerference.Awarningaboutinterferenceisexpectedtohappeninan
environmentwithmanyradarsoperatinginthesamecoexistencezone.Themainimpactofinterferenceisdeteriorationofthe
detectionperformance,andoccasionalghosttracks.
Sincetheradar-videofusioncameraoperatesatadifferentfrequencythanotherAxisradarproducts,suchastheAXISD200-VEor
theAXISD2110-VE,youdon’thavetothinkaboutcoexistencewhenyoucombinedifferentproductsatthesamesite.

•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.

•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.

•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
OptimizeIRillumination
Dependingontheinstallationenvironmentandtheconditionsaroundthecamera,forexampleexternallightsourcesinthescene,
youcansometimesimprovetheimagequalityifyoumanuallyadjusttheintensityoftheLEDs.Ifyouhaveproblemswithreections
fromtheLEDs,youcantrytoreducetheintensity.

BenetfromIRlightinlo-lightconditionsbyusingnightmode
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Butasthevisiblelightdiminishes,colorimagesbecomeless
brightandclear.Ifyouswitchtonightmodewhenthishappens,thecamerausesbothvisibleandnear-infraredlighttodeliverbright
anddetailedblack-and-whiteimagesinstead.Youcansetthecameratoswitchtonightmodeautomatically.
1.GotoVideo>Image>Day-nightmode,andmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
2.Tosetatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoswitchtonightmode,movetheThresholdslidertowardBrightorDark.
Reducenoiseinlo-lightconditions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoVideo>Image>ExposureandmovetheBlur-noisetrade-off
slidertowardLonoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.

ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.

TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.

Therearetwowaystodothis:
•Usethebuilt-inRadarautotracking.UsethisoptionwhenyouhaveonePTZcameramountedveryclosetotheradar.This
optioncreatesanedgetoedgesolutionwheretheradardirectlycontrolsthecamera.
Thebuilt-inRadarautotrackingservicesupportsallAxis’PTZcameras.
1.GotoSettings>System>Radarautotracking.
2.EntertheIPaddress,usernameandpasswordforthePTZcamera.
3.ClickConnectandfollowtheinstructions.
Note
ThePTZcameramustbeinstalleddirectlyaboveorbelowtheradar.
Theapplicationdoesnotusetheincludezonesinthedetector.Itusestheentireradarcoverage,exceptexcludezones,to
detectmotion.
•UsetheWindows®applicationAXISRadarAutotrackingforPTZ,tousemultiplePTZcameraswithmultipleradars.

UseanNTPservertosynchronizethetimeonthecamerasandtheWindowscomputer.Iftheclocksareoutofsynch,you
mayexperiencedelaysinthetracking,orghosttracking.
Hotominimizefalsealarms
Ifyounoticethatyougettoomanyfalsealarms,youcanlteroutcertaintypesofmovementorobjects,changethecoverage,or
adjustthedetectionsensitivity.Testwhichsettingsworkbestforyourenvironment.
•AdjustthedetectionsensitivityofAXISObjectAnalytics:
GotoSettings>Apps>AXISObjectAnalytics,openascenario,andselectalowerDetectionsensitivity.
-Losensitivity:Requiresboththeradarandthecameratodetecttheobject.Reducedriskoffalsealarms,
butincreasedriskofmisseddetections.
-Automatic:Letstheapplicationdecideifbothradarandcameraoronlyoneofthemisrequiredtodetect
theobject.
-Highsensitivity:Requireseithertheradarorthecameratodetecttheobject.Increasedriskoffalsealarmsbut
reducedriskofmisseddetections.
•Adjustthedetectionsensitivityoftheradar:
GotoSettings>Radar>Settings>DetectionandselectalowerDetectionsensitivity.Thisdecreasestheriskoffalse
alarms,butitcouldalsocausetheradartomisssomemovement.
-Lo:Usethissensitivitywhentherearealotofmetalobjectsorlargevehiclesinthearea.Itwilltakelongertime
fortheradartotrackandclassifyobjects.Thiscanreducethedetectionrange,especiallyforfastmovingobjects.
-Medium:Thisisthedefaultsetting.
-High:Usethissensitivitywhenyouhaveanopeneldwithoutmetalobjectsinfrontoftheradar.Thiswill
increasethedetectionrangeforhumans.
•Modifytheincludeandexcludezones:
Iftheincludezoneincludeshardsurfaces,suchasametalwall,theremaybereectionsthatcausesmultipledetections
forasinglephysicalobject.Inthiscase,modifytheincludezone,see,oraddanexcludezonethatmaskseverything
behindthesurface,see.
•Filteronmovement:
GotoSettings>Radar>Settings>DetectionandselectIgnoresayingobjects.Thissettingwillminimizefalsealarms
fromtrees,bushes,andagpolesinthecoveragezone.
•Filterontime:

•Filteronobjecttype:
GotoSettings>RMDzonesandselectazonetomodifyitssettings.
Toavoidtriggeringonspecicobjecttypes,enablethelteranddeselecttheobjecttypesthatshouldnottriggerevents
inthiszone.

TheobjecttypesettingonlyaffectsRadarMotionDetection.ItwillbeignoredbyAXISObjectAnalytics.
