Therearetwowaysthattheradardataisfusedwiththevideodatainthisproduct:
•Visualfusion:Theradardetectionsandclassicationsarefusedintothevideoimage.Thisisawaytovisualizetheradar
datainthevideostream.
Forexample,ifanobjectappearsat0m(164ft),itmaybetoosmallforthevideoanalyticstodetect,buttheradar
seesit.Inthatcase,theradardetectionsarefusedintotheimageplaneandcanbeusedtotriggeralarmsinsideAXIS
ObjectAnalytics.
•Analyticsfusion:Theradardetectionsandclassicationarefusedwiththedetectionsandclassicationsfromthevideo
analytics.Thisgivesthedeviceacombinedanalyticsoutputwheretherespectivestrengthsofbothtechnologiesare
merged:thedistanceandspeedfromtheradar,andthepositionandclassfromthevideo.
Withthesameexampleasabove,whentheobjectcomescloser,itisalsodetectedbythevideoanalytics.Theradar
detectionsarethenfusedwiththevideoanalyticsoutputtoproduceanoutputofhigherquality,andwithmore
information,thanwhatthetechnologiescanprovideseparately.

2.Retypethepasswordtoconrmthespelling.
3.ClickAdduser.

Securepassords
Important
Axisdevicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoverthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeviceaftertherstlogin,set
upasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionandthenchangethepassword.
Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.

Therearealsootherdesignfactorstocheckwhenplacingtheradarsinasite,likethesurroundingenvironment,swayingobjects,ag
poles,andswayingvegetations.Insomecasesyouneedtolteroutswayingobjectsfromtheradarstreamtoavoidfalsealarms.
Youmayalsoneedtoconsiderthepositioningofthecamerasinrespecttoeachother.Youcaninstallupto8radarsclosetoeach
other,orfacingeachother,withoutcausingproblems.Thebuilt-incoexistencealgorithmcanndasuitabletimeandfrequencyslot
tooperateintominimizeinterference.
Ifinaninstallationcontainsmorethan8AXISQ166-DLE,andmanyofthedevicesarepointingawayfromeachotherthenthereis
lessriskofinference.Ingeneral,radarinterferencewillnotcausetheradartostopfunctioning.Thereisabuilt-ininterference
mitigationalgorithmthatsuppressesfalsedetectionsduetointerference.Awarningaboutinterferenceisexpectedtohappeninan
environmentwithmanyradarsoperatinginthesamecoexistencezone.Themainimpactofinterferenceisdeteriorationofthe
detectionperformance,andoccasionalghosttracks.
Sincetheradar-videofusioncameraoperatesatadifferentfrequencythanotherAxisradarproducts,suchastheAXISD200-VEor
theAXISD2110-VE,youdon’thavetothinkaboutcoexistencewhenyoucombinedifferentproductsatthesamesite.

Adjustthezoomandfocus
Selectsceneprole
Asceneproleisasetofpredenedimageappearancesettingsincludingcolorlevel,brightness,sharpness,contrastandlocal
contrast.Sceneprolesarepreconguredintheproductforquicksetuptoaspecicscenario,forexampleForensicwhichis
optimizedforsurveillanceconditions.Foradescriptionofeachavailablesetting,seeThedeviceinterfaceonpage20.
Youcanselectasceneproleduringtheinitialsetupofthecamera.Youcanalsoselectorchangesceneprolelater.

Selectexposuremode
Toimproveimagequalityforspecicsurveillancescenes,useexposuremodes.Exposuremodesletsyoucontrolaperture,shutter
speed,andgain.GotoVideo>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:
•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.
OptimizeIRillumination
Dependingontheinstallationenvironmentandtheconditionsaroundthecamera,forexampleexternallightsourcesinthescene,
youcansometimesimprovetheimagequalityifyoumanuallyadjusttheintensityoftheLEDs.Ifyouhaveproblemswithreections
fromtheLEDs,youcantrytoreducetheintensity.

BenetfromIRlightinlo-lightconditionsbyusingnightmode
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Butasthevisiblelightdiminishes,colorimagesbecomeless
brightandclear.Ifyouswitchtonightmodewhenthishappens,thecamerausesbothvisibleandnear-infraredlighttodeliverbright
anddetailedblack-and-whiteimagesinstead.Youcansetthecameratoswitchtonightmodeautomatically.
1.GotoVideo>Image>Day-nightmode,andmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
2.Tosetatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoswitchtonightmode,movetheThresholdslidertowardBrightorDark.
Reducenoiseinlo-lightconditions
Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:
•Adjustthetrade-offbetweennoiseandmotionblur.GotoVideo>Image>ExposureandmovetheBlur-noisetrade-off
slidertowardLonoise.
•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.
Note
Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.
•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.
Note
Whenyoureducethemaxgain,theimagecanbecomedarker.
•Setthemaxgaintoalowervalue.
•Ifpossible,opentheaperture.
•Reducesharpnessintheimage,underAppearance.
Reducemotionblurinlo-lightconditions
Toreducemotionblurinlow-lightconditions,adjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettingsinVideo>Image>Exposure:
•MovetheBlur-noisetrade-offslidertowardLomotionblur.
Note
Whenyouincreasethegain,imagenoisealsoincreases.
•SetMaxshuttertoashortertime,andMaxgaintoahighervalue.
Ifyoustillhaveproblemswithmotionblur:
•Increasethelightlevelinthescene.
•Mountthecamerasothatobjectsmovetowarditorawayfromitratherthansideways.
Maximizethedetailsinanimage
Important
Ifyoumaximizethedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•GotoVideo>Stream>Generalandsetthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•Belowtheliveviewimage,clickandinVideoformat,selectMJPEG.

Handlescenesithstrongbacklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

Stabilizeashakyimageithelectronicimagestabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.

TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.
