Please read this manual before operating the HCTVRemote and keep
it handy.
The HCTVRemote8GB disguises a high quality DVR in a simple
universal remote shell. A common household tool, this "universal
remote" is right at home in one of the most commonly used rooms in
your house. Place it on top of an entertainment center and it blends
right in with the other remotes you surely have laying around.
While the remote contains many button, only one special button is
used to operate the remote. Power and video are handled from one
simple button, reducing the chance of accidental discovery. It is hard
to imagine that camera fits in this every day black remote that takes
1280 x 720 resolution video at 30 frames per second. The
HCTVRemote has 8GB of internal storage. The HCTVRemote will
record up to 1.5 Hours or HD video, with the battery lasting up to 3
hours before it needs recharging.

OPERATING THE HCTVREMOTE
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Allow the device to charge 4 – 6 hours before
using.
HOW TO CHARGE THE HCTVREMOTE
1. Connect the TV remote to your computer using the included
USB cable.
 The red/blue indicator light is on while charging.
 When fully charged, the red light turns off and the blue
light stays on.
HOW TO TURN THE HCTVREMOTE ON AND OFF
1. Press and hold the Power Key on the remote.
 The red/blue light is on during initialization.
 The red light turns off and the blue light stays on when
the camera is in standby mode.
TIP: If the device is left idle for 2 minutes, it will turn off
automatically.
2. In standby mode, press and hold the Power Key on the remote
for 3 seconds.
 The red indicator light will flash 3 times and then the
entire device will turn off.
HOW TO RECORD
1. In standby mode, press the Power Key on the remote.
 The blue indicator light will flash 3 times, which means
the camera is recording live video.
2. Press the Power Key on the remote twice to save the video
and stop recording.
HOW TO RESET THE TIME/DATE STAMP
1. Connect the TV remote to your computer using the included
USB cable.
2. Open the “TIME SETTING” folder.
3. Run “WriteTime.exe.” The program will automatically detect
the device.
4. Click “Update.”
5. Disconnect the TV remote from your computer.

RETRIEVE THE FILES TO YOUR PC
1. Plug the device into your PC using the USB cable
2. Locate “Removable Disk” inside the (My) Computer folder
 AutoPlay Removable Disk > Open folder to view files
Or…
 Go to Start > Computer > Removable Disk
3. Open the Removable Disk drive
4. Open the “_REC” folder
5. Open the “100MEDIA” folder
6. Double click the file you want to view
 VLC Player is recommended for watching videos
TROUBLESHOOTING
THE DEVICE WON’T TURN ON
 Make sure the charging cable is securely inserted into the
device and into the power source
THE DEVICE ISN’T CHARGING
 Replace the battery or charging cable
THE DEVICE HAS CRASHED
 You need to reset the device
MY COMPUTER DOESN’T RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE
 Unplug the device from your PC and reboot the device
 Unplug the device from your PC and reboot your PC
 Try using a different USB slot on your PC
 Replace the USB cable
