Please read this owner’s manual before attempting to operate your Palladium 8500 Folding Electric
wheelchair. The safety and operating instructions will help you to understand the performance and
limitations of your new power mobility chair.

Unpacking and Setting UP
1. Begin by taking out the wheelchair and spare parts from
the shipping carton, remove packing wrap, and stand
the chair upright. (see Image 1)
2. Install the joystick controller on the armrest.
The joystick can be installed on the left or right hand.
(see Image 2).
3. It is preinstalled from the factory for the righthand, but
the bracket can be moved to the left if desired.

How To Unfold
4. To unfold the wheelchair, grasp the back rest push bar and place you other hand on the seat
bar to separate and expand the chair to the open position (see Image 5)
5. You will hear the safety clip lock in place when the chair is fully expanded in place correctly.
The chair will unfold easily within a few seconds simple separate. (see image 6) (note it will
be easier if the wheels are locked in electric mode when unfolding so the chair does not roll)

unfolding and folding the wheelchair

How To Fold

Note: Ensure the safety clamp is locked in place when unfolded. You will hear a clip when it is
engaged. Failure to do this could result in the chair collapsing on you causing serious injury.
Careful as this is a potential pinch point for fingers
6. You can fold the Palladium 8500 within 3 seconds. Pinch together the release clamp found on the back of
the chair to unlock your chair from the folded position and press the chair slightly forward about 1 inch to
separate the frame then release the clamp. (see image 7)
7. Push the chair forward all the way to the ground. The Palladium 8500 will collapse like a baby stroller
within seconds and will fully collapse. (see image 8)
8. Now lift the chair (vertically) upright and it will stand by itself. (see image 9)

9. Make sure the chair is powered off
10. Switch the break levers to manual mode (back toward you) (See image 10).
11. Once folded you can pull the wheelchair using the seat cross bar (see image 11) on the
anti tipping wheels
12. You will know the wheelchair is in electric mode if the wheels do not turn.
13. Place chair in manual mode with the power off and the wheels will turn freely.
14. You can pull the Palladium 8500 wheelchair from the frame

15. The Palladium 8500 wheelchair is ideal for travel and will fold to the size of a large suitcase.
(see image 12)
16. When folded the wheelchair dimensions are (24” W x 16” H x 30” L) and can be easily carried
(see image 14)
17. The Palladium 8500 requires little trunk Space.
18. It is 16” high when laid flat and 30” deep and 24” wide. This will allow plenty of room to fit within
most car trunks.
19. The vehicle shown has a trunk that is 17” height and 36” wide and is 46” deep.

20. Notice the red armrest release button on the outside of each armrest (see image 15)
21. This button is in the locked position when the armrests are down
22. You will not be able to lift the armrest when the armrest lever is in the locked position
23. Press the armrest release lever and then lift the armrest up vertically
24. Do not force the armrest down it should glide down gently. If it gets stuck in the up
position pull the lower bar forward, (see Image 16) to lower the armrest

Transferring to the Wheelchair
25. Before transferring onto the wheelchair make sure the power is OFF and transfer on from
the side of the chair with the armrest up. Carefully slide forward and lower the armrest
back in place.
26. If you accidently touch the joystick with the power on the wheelchair could move.
27. While using the wheelchair make sure the footrest is down with feet placed on the footrest
while driving the wheelchair.
Transferring from the Wheelchair
28. Make sure to bring the wheelchair to a complete stop.
29. Turn the power off to avoid touching the joystick and moving
the wheelchair unintentionally.
30. Raise armrest to conveniently transfer from the side of
the wheelchair. (see Image 16 on prior page)
31. Do not transfer off the wheelchair from the front.
32. Only transfer from the side of the wheelchair. (see Image 17)

The Palladium 8500 is designed to
operate the chair with a zero-turn
radius (within its own footprint) and will
detect micromovement of the joystick.
To stop the chair simply
let go of the joystick and
the chair will come to a
controlled stop.
Practice using the joystick to move
forward and in reverse and making left
and right turns.
Always use slow smooth
movements and avoid
jerky movements with
the joystick
It takes about a week to get use to the
joystick operations to become
proficient. You will need to get a “feel”
for the joystick’s responsiveness and
drive accordingly

controlled speeds

34. Practice operation in a safe and controlled environment to learn the operation of your
360-degree joystick along with the different speeds and the maneuverability of the
wheelchair. (see image 19)
35. When turning, reduce your speed, which will help you avoid any potential tilting
or tipping of the wheelchair and adjust the speed depending on your

Remote Control Syncing
37. To pair the remote control to your wheelchair, begin by turning on the
wheelchair joystick with the chair in electric mode.
38. Pressing the power button on the Bluetooth remote (see image 20)
39. Hold the power button down on the remote down and it will begin to flash red
for a few seconds. Continue holding it down until and it will turn green.
40. Once the power button turns green release the Bluetooth power button.
41. Your Bluetooth remote is now paired to the joystick.
42. You will need to do this each time you which to use the Bluetooth remote
43. The Bluetooth remote is equipped with a mini joystick for your thumb to
control the chair.

The Bluetooth remotes are preprogrammed at the factory to match your joystick. Sometimes the pairing between joystick and
the Bluetooth remote are not paired. How to pair a remote if the above steps do not work:
a) Make sure the chair is in electric mode and powered on and batteries are in the Bluetooth remote correctly
b) Press the power button on the Bluetooth remote until it turns green then release
c) Now press the (-) button (speed down button) and hold until the yellow light appears in the middle of the speed setting
and then press the horn button immediately
d) Now press the down button on the Bluetooth remote and hold it down until the lights on the joystick turn off
e) Wait 5-8 seconds for pairing to complete and then turn on the joystick again. Your Bluetooth remote should now be
synced

Battery
Charging the Battery
44. Make sure the battery is installed correctly within the battery cage under the front seat
(see image 21)
45. Make sure battery is clipped in place properly. If the battery is installed incorrectly, it
will affect the function of the chair if installed incorrectly.
46. You can charge your battery from the joystick by connecting the 3-prong charger to the
joystick as shown. (see Image 22)

47. The wheelchair uses a 24V10ah lithium Ion Battery. Your wheelchair will arrive with a partially charged battery.
(see Image 23)
48. The battery should allow you to drive for a distance up to 15 miles under normal operation conditions.
49. The battery can also be removed from the chair and charged using the battery charging port (see image 22)
50. Allow your wheelchair to charge for 4-6 hours or until the light on the charger turns green (see image 24)
51. Continue to charge the wheelchair 1 hour after the light turns green to fully charge the battery. Once fully charged,
remove the cable, remove the DC charging connector from the AC input power socket.
52. If the wheelchair is unused for two months, you should charge the battery to keep it full before use.

53. The Charger is an important part of your wheelchair and provides energy to your wheelchair through a
safe, fast, and easy charger.
54. The wheelchair is a maintenance free design however we recommend you check the following:
a) Keep the charger and joystick away from moisture and check the battery connections to ensure
they are not corroded
b) Do not wash your wheelchair. You can clean it with a wet wipe or clean damp cloth
c) Storage should be in a clean room with less than 80% humidity and at temperatures between
40 degrees to 105 degrees

Battery Information
Remove and Install the Battery
55. The battery storage cage has been upgraded to house a
powerful lightweight Lithium-Ion battery that is a 24V
10ah battery and weighs about 4 lbs.
56. The battery is located under the seat with easy access
from the rear.
57. The battery can be easily removed by releasing the locking
lever button on the left side of the battery to disengage
the battery clamp from the cage.
58. You can now slide the battery out. (see Images 26, 27)
59. There are no cables to connect simply slide the battery in
or out of place and turn the wheelchair power on from the
joystick.
60. The battery can also be removed and charged with the 3-
prong charger lift the charging port and plug in 3-prong
charger (see image 28)
Important Notes
61. This battery complies with FAA standards for passenger
airline travel.
62. The battery will need to be removed from the
wheelchair and carried inside your carry-on
luggage.
