For Your Safety
Read all instructions carefully, even if you are
familiar with the appliance.
• To protect against the risk of electric shock
DO NOT IMMERSE any part of this appliance in
water or any other liquid.
• This appliance is not intended for use by young
children or inrm persons without supervision.
Never leave an appliance unattended when in
use.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
• Switch off and remove the plug from the power
outlet before cleaning or when not in use. To
unplug, grasp the plug and pull from power
outlet. Never pull cord. Never carry the appliance
by the cord.
• Do not operate the appliance with a damaged
cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions,
has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table
or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Do not place
any part of this appliance on or near a hot gas or
electric burner or in a heated oven.
• Do not use this appliance for anything other than
its intended use. This product is intended for
household use only.
• Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the
appliance. There are no user serviceable parts.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Never insert utensils into the jug.
• This product has been designed to heat water
only.
• Do not touch the body or lid when the jug is
operating, as hot surfaces may burn. Allow to
cool before cleaning.
• DO NOT OVERFILL, as boiling water may be
ejected. The maximum level is marked in the jug.
• DO NOT UNDERFILL. Ensure there is at least 2
cups of water in the jug to cover the bottom.
• The jug should always be operated on a level
surface. Operating the jug on sinks, drainboards,
uneven or inclined surfaces should be avoided.
• Avoid contact with steam from the spout when
water is boiling, or just after the jug has switched
off. Take care when opening the lid for relling,
when the jug has recently boiled, as steam will
burn.
• Extreme caution is necessary when moving any
appliance containing hot water. Wait until the
appliance has switched off automatically, or
switch off manually, before removing from the
base.
• Do not lift the lid while boiling water in the jug.
• Do not ll the jug while the appliance is still on the
base.
• The jug must only be used with the base
provided.
• Do not place the base unit onto a metal tray or
metal surface whilst in use.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE CAUTIONS MAY
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE KETTLE.

If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by
the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly
qualied person to avoid hazard.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Mistral
jug. Before using your new jug, it is important that
you read and follow the instructions in this Use and
Care booklet, even if you feel that you are quite
familiar with this appliance. Find a place to keep
this booklet handy for future reference. Attention
is drawn to the section dealing with ‘IMPORTANT
SAFEGUARDS’.
This appliance has been designed to operate from a
standard domestic power outlet. It is not intended
for industrial or commercial use.
Before First Use
• Carefully unpack your jug and all its accessories.
Remove all packaging materials and discard or
retain for future use.
• Ensure that the voltage of your electricity supply
is the same as that indicated on the rating label
on the appliance.
• Wipe over the body of the jug with a soft, dry or
damp sponge or cloth.
• Fill the jug to the maximum level indicated on the
MAX Water Mark, and boil the water. Drain this
water before rst time use to ensure the jug is
completely clean.
Operation
• Fill the jug by opening the lid and lling with
water.
• Fill the jug to the desired level. Take care NOT
to over ll above the ‘MAX’ level indicated on
the water gauge as water may eject from the
jug during boiling. Always use fresh water for
each usage and discard any boiled water that
is not used.
• Replace the lid on the jug.
• The jug must be on a DRY and LEVEL surface.
• Place the jug onto the power base. The electrical
connections will be made automatically as the jug
rests on the 360° connector on the power base.
• Insert the plug into a power outlet and switch on.
• Switch on by pressing the ‘ON/OFF’ switch
downwards. The power indicator light illuminates
to indicate that the jug is in use.
• When the water has boiled, the jug and the light
will switch off automatically. To re-boil the jug,
the water can be brought back to the boil by
depressing the ‘ON’ button. If the automatic ‘OFF’
switch has just operated it may be necessary
to wait for a few seconds before the switch can
be reset. You can stop the boiling process at
any time by gently lifting the ‘ON/OFF’ switch or
turning ‘OFF’ at the powerpoint.
• If the jug is lifted from its powerbase during
the boiling process, the ‘ON/Off’ switch will
automatically switch the jug off and can be reset
by simply depressing the switch back to the ‘ON’
position to resume boiling.

• To remove the jug from the power base, grasp
the handle and hold the jug horizontally while
lifting it clear of the base unit. Take extra care if
the jug is lled to maximum level.
Care and Cleaning
• Before cleaning, turn off the jug and unplug it
from the mains supply.
• If the jug is hot, please wait for it to cool down
before any cleaning is undertaken.
• Wipe the exterior of the jug with a soft damp
cloth or sponge.
• Remove stubborn spots with a cloth moistened
with mild detergent. Do not use steel wool or
abrasive cleaners. Do not put detergents or
cleaning agents in the jug.
• Buff with a clean soft cloth.
• Do not leave the jug in direct sunlight as the
quality of the nish may deteriorate.
Removing Calcium Deposits
In order to maintain the performance of your jug, it
is important to remove deposits that build up inside
the jug. To decalcify your jug you can either use an
appropriate descalent available from most leading
retail outlets, or you can also use the following
process:
• Half ll the jug with ordinary tap water.
• Add 30ml(1 oz) of white vinegar to the jug.
• Boil the mixture and allow to stand for 30
seconds. Repeat this step two more times.
Note: In extreme cases this procedure may need to
be repeated.
• Empty the mixture and rinse well.
• The lter inside the jug will also need to be
cleaned from time to time, to remove the build up
of calcium deposits from the prolonged use. To
remove the lter, open the lid and locate the lter,
which is located at base of spout. Removal of
the lter is achieved by placing ngers inside the
spout and pushing the lter downwards. Please
ensure the jug is cool.
• The lter may be cleaned by gently brushing
under running water with a soft bristled brush or
by soaking it in vinegar.
• Replace the lter by pushing it rmly back into
place with the 4 tabs resting rmly against the
base of the spout.

provided with the following warranty, subject to the
following conditions.
Mistral International Pty Ltd warrant this product for
a period of 3 years from the date of purchase for all
parts defective in workmanship or materials. This
product or defective parts will be replaced free of
charge.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS
1. This warranty is only valid for appliances used
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. This appliance must not be modied or changed
in any way.
3. Connection must be to the voltage requirements
as specied in the ratings label located on the
product.
4. The manufacturer does not accept liability for
any direct or consequential damage, loss or
other expense arising from misuse or incorrect
installation and operation of the appliance.
5. Warranty will only be given where proof of
purchase is provided, e.g. original invoice.
6. Not designed or warranted for industrial or
commercial use.
