INTRODUCTION: The continual evaluationof dataand testing of various systems on M20 Series aircraft models
has led, among other things, tothe introductionof the 2900 pound grossweight M20Jaircraft.
An analysis of computerdata has determinedthat a slight changeto the rudder static balancelimits
are necessary onthe
2900
poundgrossweight M20d. These new limits arelistedinINSTRUCTIONS
below.The possibilityexists that the rudders on some of theaffected aircraft listedherein may be
outsidethese new limits.Therefore, it is mandatorythat this Service Bulletinbe compliedwithas
indicated.

2900 poundlimits. If necessary, proceedto eachattachingscrew and add washers. It is recommended
that thewashers be distributedamongall

attachingscrews for
a
neater appearance. EitherANW-10or
AN970-3washers may be used. However,for
each
washer
added under screw head, the lengthof the
NAS623-3screw MUST BE increasedby one dash number. (See Service Bulletin Kit for Part Numbers. You
will needto request the quantityof washers and/or screws desired)
6. Ifgreater than 2.66 oz. is required, removethe balanceweight and weigh ittogetherwith the temporary
weights.The total weight of these should bethe specifiedweight of the new 460011-503balanceweight
ordered. The maximum460011-503balanceweight availableis2.88 pounds.
7. Re-checkrudderafter eachchangetothe balanceweight per S
&
Mmanual procedures untilwithinlimits.
8. Enter compliancestatement inAirframe log book and returnaircraft to service.
