Introduct on
The WIB2BX is a dual frequency NAVTEX-receiver for he board PC. The device receives
simul aneously NAVTEX-messages on medium wave frequencies 518 kHz (in erna ional,
English) and on 490 kHz (na ional, na ional language).
The WIB2BX equiped wi h an inser ed precision air pressure sensor, is able o record he
air pressure during a period of up o seven days.
The device will be connec ed o he PC via an USB in erface. I is similar o an USB-
memory-s ick and appears as a new s orage medium on he PC. This s orage medium
con ains all received messages as well as all da a of he air pressure sensor.
The device does no have any con rol elemen s. All func ions will be ac iva ed by he PC.

NAVTEX-Messages
In order o view NAVTEX-messages, please ac iva e he ab
NAVTEX. Here he NAVTEX menu s ruc ure is shown, in
which he NAVTEX messages are sor ed according o heir
message ype.
For bo h used NAVTEX frequencies (490 kHz and 518 kHz)
an own menu s ruc ure is availiable.
New messages are displayed in he menu ree in bold fon . Messages which were already
displayed once are shown in normal fon . The en ire menu s ruc ure can comple ely be
opened wi h he bu on and closed wi h he bu on .
All NAVTEX-messages will au oma ically be s ored for wo days and af erwards dele ed.
The ransmission me hod for NAVTEX-messages (Si or) permi s a reduced recogni ion
and correc ion of ransfer errors. Charac ers, which were no received correc ly, will be
represen ed as underscore (_). Never heless i is possible ha also normally represen ed
charac ers are incorrec .
Structure of a NAVTEX message
The make up of a NAVTEX message is o be explained on he basis of following example:
ZCZC PA09
NETHERLANDS COASTGUARD
NAVIGATIONAL WARNING NR. 9 172128 UTC AUG
PLATFORM L10-G 53-29. N 00 -11.7E
UNLIT
NNNN
Each NAVTEX-message begins wi h he le ers ZCZC, followed by he message
iden ifica ion (PA09). The firs le er of he message iden ifica ion serves he mas er s a ion
for iden ifica ion. In his example i is NETHERLANDS COASTGUARD (P).
In he second le er he kind of message is coded, here naviga ional warning (naviga ion
warnings). The las wo numbers of he message iden ifica ion (09) are a serial numbers.
The number 00 has a privileged posi ion. I is reserved for dis ress messages.
NAVTEX messages have a ime s amp. I is shown a he end of he hird line (172128
UTC Augus ) and means: 17. Augus , 21:28 UTC. The ime s amp refers o he da e, he
message was produced and no o he ime of he radian ransmission. Af erwards he
message con en follows. The message ends wi h NNNN.

side of he curve. The barograph has a measuring
in erval of one minu e and a resolu ion of 0,1hPa.
The represen a ion period can be decreased wi h he
Zoom-In-Bu on and increased wi h he Zoom-Ou -
Bu on . The emporal grada ion is 12h, 24h, 48h and 7
days.

You can increase a cu ou of he air pressure curve. Draw in
addi ion a rec angular window wi h he mouse from above lef
o downward righ . Use he lef mouse bu on. If he mouse
bu on is released, he appropria e range of he diagram will
be shown increased.
The enlargemen can be cancelled again by drawing any

downside righ o upward lef ).
The diagram is movable in any direc ion. Click in addi ion wi h he righ mouse bu on in o
he air pressure curve and move he mouse. As long as you keep he mouse bu on
pressed, he air pressure curve will follow he mouse movemen s.
The da a of he barograph are only up o da e, if a WIB2BX is a ached o he compu er.
Then he curve is represen ed in blue colour. If he air pressure da a are no up o da e (no
WIB2BX a ached), he curve will be represen ed in black.
While he WIB2BX is a ached o he PC, he curren empera ure, he air pressure and he
hree hours of air pressure endency are indica ed on op of he screen.
The air pressure sensor in he WIB2BX measures he absolu e
air pressure. Because air pressure is normaly referred o sea
level, a oo small measuremen value is displayed wi hou
correc ion, if he device is above sea level.
To display he correc air pressure you have o se he
barome re heigh in he configura ion dialog. You reach he
dialog abou he menu Settings->Configuration...
Please no e ha all barograph da a are dele ed in he WIB2BX, if he device is swi ched off
