Operation
Part I. Installing the "DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER" CD software in
your computer
For Windows 98SE: The USB mass storage function will not be
activated without driver installation. To activate the USB mass storage
function, please use the installation CD-Rom to install the driver.
For Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP: Windows can
detect
Audio player without installing the CD software automatically after
connection with the USB port is established.
If you are connecting your player to your computer for the first time,
please follow these instructions: (For Windows 98SE)
1. Insert the Installation CD-ROM into the CD Drive. The Auto run
program will start to install the player driver automatically.
Hint: If the Install Shield Wizard does not start, please run the
Setup.exe under your CD-ROM Drive directory. Double click Setup.exe.

2. Follow the on screen instruction to install
the player driver.
Install the player driver under the preset directory.
Warning: DO NOT change the preset installation path. Otherwise, the
player driver cannot run properly.
3. Wheninstallationiscompleted,the new program will be added
to the folder of programs.

Part III. To begin listening
a. Insert the earphone plug into earphone jack of player and press
button.
b. Press MODE button once and MAIN MENU (MUSIC PLAYER,
NAVIGATION,FMRADIO, VOICERECORDER)will appear
on the LCD screen
c. You can press:or 9button to scroll different modes of "MUSIC
PLAYER" or "NAVIGATION" or "FM RADIO" or "VOICE
RECORDER",
and press NAVIbutton to confirm the selection.
Part IV. Listening
To listen to the MP3/WMA/ FM recording file or run the programmed list,
you maygo toMUSICPLAYERmode.
1. MUSIC PLAYER
2. a. Press MODE button to select the "MUSIC PLAYER" and press
NAVIbutton to confirm the selection
b. Press button to play or pause during playing music
c. Press button to stop
d. Press and hold button to turn off the player
e. Scroll up +to increase the volume and scroll down -to
decrease the volume
f. Press :to select the next track and 9to select the
previous track
g. Press and hold 9for fast rewind and press and hold :for
fast forward
h. Switch HOLD button to lock all buttons and all buttons will
not have function after locking

i. EQ button
Press and hold EQ button while playing music to display the
current EQ, the current [EQ] icon will change the background
color. Then press EQ button again to select the six EQ modes
[NORM, ROCK, UBASS, JAZZ, CLASS, POP ] icon. The program
will quit the EQ mode if no consecutive key pressed
j. Repeat Button
Press the /EQ/ button once to toggle different repeat mode
functions:
-Randomly play all files in the player and stop
-Randomly play all files in the player repeatedly
-Play a single file repeatedly
-Play all files in the player repeatedly
-Edit and play one section repeatedly. Press NAVIbutton
once to
start with point A and press NAVIbutton again to end with
point B.
-Play program list file and stop (only be activated upon
playlist is created)
-Play program list file repeatedly (only be activated upon
playlist is created)
k. Play the Playlist
Once the playlist is created (please refer to NAVIGATION mode
for
detail), press EQ button to select or icon. Then press
button and press button againtostartplaying the music
according to the programmed playlist
Remark:
甲、If the player stops during MUSIC PLAYER mode or VOICE
RECORDERmode,itwill automaticallyshutoff afterabout3
minutes.

2. NAVIGATION
You may search file, delete file and program the playlist in
"NAVIGATION"
mode.
a. Press MODE button to select the "NAVIGATION" and press NAVI
button
to confirm. Alternatively, you can simply press NAVIbutton to enter
the
function of "NAVIGATION" during "MUSIC PLAYER" mode
b. The LCD displays the music files in folders and files
c. Scroll up +to move up in the list and scroll down -to move down in
the list
d. Push :to enter a folder and 9to quit after selected the music file
Listen to the selected song/ file
Press button or NAVIbutton to play
CLEAR FILE / CLEAR LIST
Press button and a dialogue box [DELETE FILE / CLEAR LIST] icon
will show on the LCD screen. Scroll up+or scroll down-to toggle the
confirmation. Then another dialogue box [YES / NO] icon will appear.
Push
:or 9to select and pressNAVIbutton to confirm.
If [YES] icon is selected, LCD will display [File deleted] or [List deleted]
icon.
Remark:
-You cannot delete the file while music is playing
-[Operation Fail] icon: The file in the folder is protected so that you
cannot delete the file inside folder. These files can only be deleted
through the computer, not by the MP3 unit itself.
Program the Playlist
-Press EQ button once, a number will be displayed adjacent to the
song
name [01], [02], [03]...etc. Press EQbutton again to confirm, then
the
number will disappear and the song is stored in the playlist
-If more than one song is stored in the playlist, before pressingEQ
button to confirm, you can scroll up +or scroll down -to change
the playlist order number.
-Press MODE button to quit
Note: You cannot program the same music file on the Playlist more than
once.

3. FM RADIO
You may set the whole FM radio band, listen to the radio or record file of
FM radio program; please go to FM Radiomode.
a. Press MODE button to select the FM RADIO and press NAVI
button to
confirm.
b. Setting the FM band by auto scanning or manual present
Auto scanning the whole FM band
-If the [PRESET] icon is on, then press PRESET button to remove
it.
-Press and hold AUTO button to start auto scanning the whole FM
band.
[AUTO SCAN] icon and Channel number icons [C01], [C02] ~
[C10]... will be shown on LCD.
Each FM station detected will be stored in the 10-preset memory
(previously preset channel will be overwritten by new FM station
detected). Only the last 10 FM stations will remain in the memory.

Manual preset FM band
-If the [PRESET] icon is on, then press PRESET button to remove it.
-Push :to increase FM frequency. The unit will start Fast Forward
Scan function if you push and hold:for a longer time. The unit will
stop when next FM station is detected
-Push 9to decrease FM frequency. The unit will start Fast
Backward Scan function if you push and hold 9is pressed and
held for a longer time. The unit will stop when next FM station is
detected
-Press button once, then [STORE] icon and Channel number
icons e.g. [C01] will be shown on LCD.
-Push :to increase Channel Number.
-Push 9decrease Channel Number.
-Press PRESET button again to store this FM frequency in selected
channel number. (The [STORE] icon will be turned off)
c. Operating with preset channel
-Press PRESETbutton to turn on the [PRESET] icon.
-Push :to increase thepreset channel by 1.
-Push 9to decrease the preset channel by 1.
d. Operating with Stereo
-Press and hold MONO button to toggle [STEREO] icon ON and
OFF. When [STEREO] icon is OFF, the Mono effect is selected. If
the FM signal is weak, then it will receive the signal in Mono and the
[STEREO] icon will turn off.
e. FM Radio Recording
-Press the /EQ/ button to start recording.
-Press the button to stop recording.
-The recorded file is saved as WAV format in the Tuner folder.
-To play a recorded file, enter to the NAVIGATION mode and select
a Tuner file in the [TUNER/] folder, press button to play.
Note:
Volume is not controlled during recording.
FM recording files can only be deleted through the computer, not by the
MP3 unit itself.

4.VOICE RECORDER
You may record and listen the voice file in VOICE RECORDER mode.
a. Press MODE button to select the VOICE RECORDER mode and
press
NAVIbutton to confirm
b. Voice recording
-Press the /EQ/ button to start recording.
-Press the button to stop recording.
-The recorded file is saved as WAV format in the VOICE folder.
c. Play the Recorded File
-Press button to listen the recorded file
-Press button to stop
-Push :to select next recorded file
-Push 9to select previous recorded file.
Note: Volume is not controlled during recording. Voice recording files can
only be deleted through the computer, not by the MP3 unit itself.

Part V.Useful Features
Setting Mode
a. Press and hold the MODE button, the Setting Mode Menu will be
shown
on LCD.
b. Push 9or :to select different setting options (PLAYLIST, REC
RESOLUTION, CONTRAST, EQUALIZER, PLAY TIMER, LIGHT
TIMER)
c. Press NAVI button to confirm.
d. Scroll up +or scroll down -to change the setting, except for
CONTRAST
which needs to push :or 9to change the setting.
e. Press NAVIbutton to confirm this selection.
f. Press MODE button again to quit the Setting Mode Menu i.e. return
to
normal operation.
1. PLAYLIST MODE
To view or CLEAR ITEM / CLEAR LIST of programmed playlist, please
go
to PLAYLIST mode.
a. Press and hold MODE button to select PLAYLIST mode and press
NAVI
to confirm.
b. Clear a music file of PLAYLIST or whole PLAYLIST
-Scroll up +or scroll down-to select the file you want to delete
-Press button, a dialogue box [CLEAR ITEM or CLEAR LIST]
icon will show on the LCD. Then scroll up +or scroll down -to
select your choice.
-Press NAVI button to confirm and a dialogue box [YES or NO]
icon will be shown on the LCD
-Push :or 9to select your choice.
-Press NAVIbutton to confirm deleting or not.
2. REC RESOLUTION MODE: To select voice recording resolution
[HIGH / NORMAL / LOW].
3. CONTRAST MODE: To adjust LCD contrast level.
4. EQUALIZER MODE: To select different music equalizers effect [
NORM] / [ROCK] / [UBASS] / [JAZZ] / [CLASS] / [POP].
5. PLAY TIMER MODE: To select [ELAPSED TIME] or [REMAINING
TIME] indicator
6. LIGHT TIMER MODE: To select time duration [OFF] / [5 sec] /
[10 sec] / [15 sec] of LCD backlight.

Part VI. Safe Removal Procedure
a. Double click the "Safe Removal" icon; the "Unplug or Eject
Hardware" window will pop up. You can select the device you want
to remove. Then, click the "Stop" button. Press OK to confirm
devices to be stopped.
b. Then unplug the USB cable on the Digital Audio Player.
Note: If you do not follow the safe removal procedure in Windows ME,
Windows 2000 and Windows XP system, it may cause data lost due to
the write cache issue.

Part VII. Additional Information
1. Installing Battery
1. Slide and open the battery compartment door
2. Insert the battery with correct polarity.
3. Close the battery compartment door
Remarks:
lTo avoid battery leakage or corrosion, remove the battery from the
player if the player is not to be used for a long time.
lRemove dead battery from the player immediately to avoid
damaging the player.
lWhen corrosion occurs, wipe the battery compartment immediately
with a dry cloth and insert a new battery.

II. Precautions
Copyright
lDistributing copies of MP3 tracks without permission is a
violation of the international copyright laws.
Safety
lVibration experienced during walking or exercising will not
affect the player. However, dropping the player or dropping a
heavy object on the player may result in damage or sound
distortion.
lAvoid spilling any liquid onto or into the player.
lDo not leave the player in a location near heat sources or in a
place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or sand,
moisture, rain, mechanical shock, or an unleveled surface or
in a car with the windows closed during excessive heat.
On Headphones and Earphones
uRoad Safety
Do not use the headphones/earphones while driving,
cycling, or operating any motorized vehicle. It may
create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas. It
can also be potentially dangerous to play your
headsets at high volume while walking, especially at
pedestrian crossing. You should exercise extreme
caution or discontinue to use in potentially hazardous
situations.
uPreventing hearing damage
Avoid using the headphones/earphones at high
volume. Hearing Experts advice not to play the music
in loud and long period continuously. If you
experience a ringing in your ears, reduce the volume
or discontinue to use it.
uConsideration for others
Keep the volume at a moderate level. This allows you
to hear the sound from outside and to be considerate
to the people around you.

6. Care and Maintenance
Your Digital Audio Player is a precision electronic device, and should not
be subjected to rough handling or exposed to extreme temperatures or
moisture. Do not use chemical agents or liquids to clean the unit, as
they may damage the plastic. Be sure to remove the batteries before
cleaning the unit. Weak batteries should be replaced promptly, since
they can leak and damage the player. Please also note the following,
regarding the use of batteries. Caution: Use only alkaline or zinc carbon
batteries. Do not mix different types of batteries or new and used
batteries. Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Use only
recommended batteries or equivalent. Be sure to observe the correct
polarity when inserting the batteries. Worn out batteries should be
removed from the unit promptly. Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
Please retain this information for future reference.
