Einleitung
Der Music Player einhaltet drei Prozessoren:
Hauptprozessor, Streaming-Client Prozessor und
CD Prozessor. Die Software für diese
Prozessoren kann separat upgedatet werden.
Das Update für Hauptprozessor und Streaming
Client Prozessor erfolgt mit Hilfe eines USB
Memory Sticks. Der CD Prozessor wird ü er die
RS232 Schnittstelle des Music Players upgedatet.
Der Update Vorgang für die verschiedenen
Prozessoren des Gerätes ist im Folgenden im
Detail erläutert.
HINWEIS
Benutzereinstellungen gehen bei einem
Firmwareupgrade verloren.
Fehlerhaftes Vorgehen oder ein Stromausfall
beim pgradeprozess können zu einem
vollständigen Funktionsverlust des Gerätes
führen. Das pgrade geschieht auf eigene
Gefahr.
Introduction
The Music Player contains three processors: main
processor, network/streaming-client processor
and CD processor. The firmware for these
processors can e updated separately.
The firmware for main processor processor and
streaming client can e updated y using an USB
memory stick.
The CD processor update is done via the RS232
interface on the ack panel of the Music Player.
The update process for the different processors is
descri ed in detail in the following paragraphs.
Note
All user settings will be lost when performing
a firmware upgrade.
Errors during the upgrade process or an
interruption of the mains power may damage
the device. The upgrade is done on your own
risk.

Displaying the Firmware Version of main processor and CD
processor
●Gerät mit der ON-Taste auf der Front
ausschalten. Gerät dann wieder einschalten
und sofort nach dem Einschalten die |<<
Taste drücken und gedrückt halten, is das
"Software Update Menü" auf dem Display
erscheint.
●Zur Zeile UPDATE gehen und OK drücken.
●Jetzt kann mit den Cursor Tasten < und > die
Softwareversion für Steuerung und CD
Prozessor a gerufen werden.
●Menü schließen durch mehrfaches Antippen
des STOP ( □ ) Tasters.
●Switch the Music Player off with the ON
utton on the front panel. Switch the Player
ack ON again and immediately after switch
on, press the |<< utton on the front panel
and keep it pressed until the "Software
Update Menu“ appears on the display.
●Go to the UPDATE menu item and press OK.
●Now you can display the firmware versions of
main processor and CD processor y
pressing the < and > cursor uttons.
●Close the menu y repeatedly pressing the
STOP ( □ ) utton.

A) Hardwarevoraussetzung
●USB Speicher Stick mit mehr als 15MB freiem
Speicher (FAT 32 formatiert).
B) Vorbereitung des SB Sticks
●Bitte laden Sie sich von der T+A Homepage
(www.ta-hifi.de) das aktuellste Softwarepaket
für den Music Player herunter. Entpacken Sie
dann das komprimierte File und kopieren Sie
den gesamten Inhalt direkt auf Ihren USB
Stick. (Bitte nicht in einen Unterordner legen !)
●Eventuell vorhandene ältere Versionen sollten
vom Stick entfernt werden.
●A) Hardware Requirements
USB memory stick with more than 15MByte
free memory space (FAT 32 formatted)
B) Preparation of the SB memory stick
●please get the newest T+A Music Player
update package from the T+A homepage
(www.ta-hifi.com), decompress the file and
copy the whole contents to your USB stick
(please don't use su directories !)
●Older software versions must e deleted from
the USB stick.

Hinweis
Für die drei Music Player Varianten gibt es
jeweils eigene Softwareversionen, die
untereinander nicht kompatibel sind. Bitte
verwenden Sie daher unbedingt nur die zu
Ihrem Gerät passende Firmware.
Die Geräteversionen können anhand der
Rückwand unterschieden werde: Der Music
Player verfügt über eine einzelne SB-
Buchse , der Music Player MkII hat dagegen
zwei SB-Buchsen und der Music Player
balanced hat als einziger symmetrische XLR
Ausgänge.
Note
There are different software versions available
for the three Music Player generations. Since
these versions are not compatible please
ensure that you use the appropriate version
for your device.
For indentifying the version of your device
please have a look at the back panel.
The Music Player provides one SB-connector
whereas and the Music Player MkII has two
SB-connectors. The Music Player balanced is
the only device with balanced XLR outputs.

C) pdate der Software
●Lesen Sie die der Firmware eigefügte
README Textdatei, und eachten Sie alle in
dieser Datei gege enen Hinweise.
●Stecken Sie den USB Stick in die USB Buchse
an der Rückseite des Music Player
(USB1 eim Music Player MkII und USB HDD
eim Music Player alanced).
●Schalten Sie den Music Player mit der ON
Taste an der Gerätefront aus und wieder ein,
drücken Sie dann gleich nach dem Einschalten
die |<< Taste am Gerät und halten Sie sie
gedrückt, is im Gerätedisplay das "Software
Update Menü" erscheint.
●Gehen Sie mit den Cursortasten zur Zeile
PDATE und drücken Sie OK. Der Fokus
springt nun nach rechts.
●Wählen Sie nun mit den Cursor Tasten < und >
die Einstellung „us “ und estätigen Sie mit
OK. Die Anzeige „start USB Upd“ sollte nun in
Groß uchsta en erscheinen. Starten Sie den
Updatevorgang nun mit zweimaligem Druck auf
die OK Taste.
●Der aktuelle Fortschritt des Updatevorgang
kann an 5 LEDs a gelesen werden. Nachdem
der Steuerungsprozessor vollständig upgedatet
wurde, wird der weitere Updateverlauf als Text
im Display angezeigt. (Dauer bis zu 9 min).
A C H T N G:
Schalten Sie den Player bitte keinesfalls
während der Programmierung aus !!!
●Nach erfolgreichem A schluss des Pro-
grammiervorgangs zeigt der Player für ca. 5s
„pdate finished“ an und schaltet danach a .
Sollte diese Meldung nicht erscheinen, ist das
Update nicht vollständig durchgelaufen und
sollte wiederholt werden !
●Als letzter Schritt sollte das Gerät für ca. 30
Sekunden vom Stromnetz getrennt werden.
A C H T N G:
Sollte ein Fehler bei dem Programmiervorgang
auftreten (alle Status LEDs blinken oder
Fehlermeldung auf dem Gerätedisplay),
schalten Sie den Music Player mit
eingestecktem SB Stick am
Netzhauptschalter aus und wieder ein. Soweit
die Firmware noch vollständig im Gerät
vorhanden ist, startet das Gerät neu. Gehen
Sie dann bitte erneut wie unter C beschrieben
vor.
Sollte die Firmware bereits teilweise gelöscht
sein, ist keine Bedienung mehr möglich. Die
Programmierung wird dann nach dem
Einschalten ohne Bedienung erneut gestartet.
C) pdate of the Firmware
●Read the README Textfile coming with the
new firmware and follow the instructions given
in this file.
●Insert your USB memory stick into the USB
connector of the Music Player. (USB 1 socket
for the Music Player MkII and the USB HDD
socket for the Music Player alanced)
●Switch the Music Player OFF and ON again
with the ON utton on the front panel.
●Immediately after power ON, press the |<<
utton on the front panel and keep it pressed
until the Software Update Menu" appears on
the display of the player.
●navigate to the line PDATE and press OK.
The focus will now jump to the right side of the
display.
●Now choose „us “ with the < and > cursor
uttons and press OK. The display should now
show „start USB Upd“ in capital letters. Please
press again the OK utton twice for starting the
update process.
●The update process can take up to 9 min and
will e indicated e 5 status LEDs. If the
update of the main processor is finished, the
following update process is displayed on the
screen. (please see ta 1)
A T T E N T I O N:
Please never switch off the device while
programming is in progress !!!
●After programming has een finished
successfully the player shows for 5s “ pdate
finished” on the display and then it powers
down. If this message does not appear the
update has not een finished successfully and
should e restarted.
●At last the device should e disconnected from
power supply for a out 30 seconds.
ATTENTION:
If an programming error occurs (all LEDs are
flashing or an error message occurs on the
display) please switch the Music Player with
his main power switch off and on again (let the
SB stick connected)
If the firmware has not been erased by the
update process the Music Player will start
again. Please repeat the update process from
step C.
If the main processor firmware has been
already deleted by the update process, user
control is no longer possible. In this case the
update process will be restarted automatically.

Hinweis
Das Update der CD Software nur dann
erforderlich, wenn die entsprechende Software im
Update Paket enthalten ist.

A) Hardwarevoraussetzung
●PC mit einer seriellen RS232 Schnittstelle
mit Betrie ssystem Windows 98/XP1).
●serielles Ka el (Buchse/Stecker), 1:1
durchver unden (kein Nullmodemka el)
B) Anschluss des Players an den PC
●Schalten Sie itte zunächst den PC ein.
●Ver inden Sie dann die serielle Schnittstelle
Ihres PC mit Hilfe des seriellen Ka els mit der
RS232 Buchse des Players (s. A . 1)
A) Hardware requirement

B) Connecting the player to the PC
●switch on your PC
●connect your PC to the RS232-port at the
ackside of the player (fig. 1) using the serial
ca le.

C) PC - Software
●Für das Softwareupdate enötigen Sie das
Programmiertool LPC210x_ISP exe
Soweit noch nicht vorhanden, installieren Sie
itte zunächst das Programmiertool auf Ihrem
PC. Starten Sie hierfür das Programm
Philips_Flash_Utility_Installation.exe von der
 Flash Utility CD und gehen Sie nach
den Anweisungen vor.
●Starten Sie das Programm LPC210x_ISP.exe
auf Ihrem PC
●Nehmen Sie nun itte ei dem
Programmiertool folgende Einstellungen vor
(s. A . 2):
Communication
Port: gewählte Schnittstelle ihres PC
Baud Rate: 38400 aud
Use DTR/RTS... : √
Device
XTAL: 12000
flash programming
Execute Code after Upload: √
C) PC - Software
●For the firmware update you will need the
programming tool LPC210x_ISP exe
Please install this programming tool on your
PC first y starting the program
Philips_Flash_Utility_Installation.exe from the
 Flash Utility CD and follow the
instructions.
●Start the programming tool LPC210x_ISP.exe
on your PC
●Please configure the programming tool on
your PC as shown on fig. 2 elow:

D.) pdate der CD-Prozessor Software
●Lesen Sie die der Firmware eigefügte
README Textdatei, und eachten Sie alle in
dieser Datei gege enen Hinweise.
●Schalten Sie den Player mit der ON Taste an
der Gerätefront aus und wieder ein.
●Drücken Sie dann solange die |<< Taste am
Gerät, is im Gerätedisplay das "Software
Update Menü" erscheint.
●Gehen Sie mit den Cursortasten zur Zeile
PDATE und drücken Sie OK. Der Fokus
springt nun nach rechts.
●Wählen Sie nun mit den Cursor Tasten < und
> die Einstellung „Decoder“ und estätigen
Sie mit OK. Die Anzeige „DECODER“ sollte
nun in Groß uchsta en erscheinen. Damit ist
der Music Player nun ereit die neue
Firmware vom PC zu empfangen.
●Betätigen Sie dann den Button „Read Device
ID“ des Programmiertools auf Ihrem PC.
--> Es sollte nun die Meldung „read part I
successfully“ erscheinen. Falls diese Meldung
nicht erscheint, ü erprüfen Sie die
Einstellungen und das Ver indungska el und
eginnen Sie den Vorgang von vorn.
●Selektieren Sie nun unter Filename die ent-
sprechende Datei
z.B. „ E_MPlayer_CD_Vxxx hex “
und etätigen Sie den Button
Upload_to_Flash.
●Der Programmiervorgang wird nun gestartet
und durch einen lauen Balken signalisiert.
A C H T N G:
Schalten Sie den Player bitte keinesfalls
während der Programmierung aus !!!
●Nach Ende des Programmiervorgangs
schalten Sie den Player itte aus und
entfernen das Ver indungska el zum PC.
D.) pdate of the CD processor firmware
●Read the README textfile coming with the
new firmware and follow the instructions
given in this file.
●Switch the Player OFF and ON again with the
ON utton on the front panel.
●Immediately after power ON, press the |<<
utton on the front panel and keep it pressed
until the „Software Update Menu" appears
on the display of the player.
●Navigate to the line PDATE and press OK.
The focus will now jump to the right side of
the display.
●Now choose „Decoder“ with the < and >
cursor uttons and press OK. The display
should now show „DECODER“ in capital
letters, indicating that the Music Player is now
ready to receive data on its RS232 interface
from your PC.
●Now click on the utton „Read Device ID“ of
the programming tool on your PC.
--> you should now see the message „read
part I successfully“. If this is not the case,
please check the settings and the ca ling and
repeat the process from the eginning.
●Now please select the name of the program
file
e.g. „ E_MPlayer_CD_Vxxx hex “
and press the utton Upload_to_flash
●The programming process is now started and
the progress of the programming can e
monitored with the progress ar in the ottom
line of the display.
A T T E N T I O N:
Please never switch off the device while
programming is in progress !!!
●After programming has been finished you can
switch OFF the player and disconnect the
PC.

Bemerkungen / Remarks
1) Um das Philips Flash Utility mit Windows XP enutzen zu können, enötigen sie sowohl zum
Installieren als auch zum Benutzen Administrator-Rechte.
When using Windows XP you will need administrator-permissions to install and(!) run the Philips
flash utility.
