General Mounting and Operating Instructions for Turntables
Special Remark:
Do not plug the unit into the mains outlet forcefully, but make sure that the plug is tightly connected with it. Never let
the power cord come into contact with other cables! Be cautious when working with power cords and connections.
Never touch the power cord or the device with wet hands as long as they are plugged into the mains power supply, as
it may cause lethal electric shock. Make sure that the power cord is not crimped or damaged by sharp edges. Never
leave the device operating near sources of heat or cold. Failure to do so, may lead to power cord damages, may
cause fire or lethal electrical shock.
Check the power cord and the power connection for damages periodically.
Never leave the operating device unattended. Keep it away from children and not authorized persons.
WARNING! Dangerous voltage.
By improper use such voltage might be life threatening!
Units that are equipped with slip rings contain “basic isolated” parts (isolation of power transmitting wires with no
additional protective covering, e.g. luster terminal) which may be touched. Sufficient protection against an electric
shock must be foreseen when connecting the display to such.
The whole construction containing the device must comply with all local or country specific directives, standards, laws
and regulations.
Mounting and Operating Instructions:
This device is a motor drive for operation in horizontal or vertical position as well as in a ceiling mounted position
(depending on its specifications). The maximum load of the installation must not exceed the load referring to the
specifications marked on the label at the back side. This product is only allowed to be operated with an alternating
voltage of 220-240 V, 50 Hz or 100-120 V, 60 Hz AC.
The turntable has to be placed on a horizontal support (adjusted by a spirit level if necessary) and according to its
construction, secured by screws through all foreseen screw holes. The support should not get deformed under the
load of the whole construction including the turntable.
The turntable is built in such way that under no circumstances should any supporting wheels be used on the
outer rim.
The torque in such cases may impair the proper operation and may lead to blocking the drive and cause an early wear
off of the safety clutch. A perfectly balanced construction doesn’t need any support rolls.
The turntable must be axially loaded, meaning that the construction’s gravity centre must be at a distance of max. 10
mm from the rotating axis. Therefore, not just the size and the form of the construction but also the distribution of
weight must be in corresponding proportion with the turntable (ask your supplier in case of doubt).
Important:
The load of the turntable is the combined effect of weight, bending moments, various conditions at the place
of installation (e.g. impact / bending load by wind power, passers-by, possible higher safety requirements for
displays suspended over public, e.g. at fairs or trade shows, etc.) so that the maximum permissible weight
has to be adapted according to each application in part.

General Mounting and Operating Instructions for Turntables
Outdoor Use:
Even outdoor units must be built in in such way that they do not get in direct contact with snow, rain, splash water, etc.
Such a protection can be ensured by providing an elevated base, good water drainage, good ventilation, shielding
sidely against rain or any other similar measures.
Basically, for each construction the manufacturer’s prior agreement should be considered, as no general static
calculations can be given. Resistance values are influenced by the form of the construction as well by wind factors
depending also on the place of installation. The wind pressure (bending moment) represents the most critical load in
case of any outdoor application.
Further information are given in the accompanying data sheet of each turntable.
General Remark:
Please be aware that our liability consists solely of the manufacturing and delivery of the turntable and motor drive(s)
ordered by you. The responsibility for proper support and installation in concordance with all legal obligations and
testing the complete installation(s) fall under the duties of the customer.
Please note our Mounting and Operating Instructions.
Connecting to power:
Connect the turning drive to the mains through the power cord. Always connect the mains plug into the power outlet
after the installation has been completed. The plug should not be inserted forcefully, still make sure that the plug is
tightly connected with the mains. In case of connections with no plug it is crucial to connect the protective conductor,
as long as provided (depending on the unit type).
The connection cord should not be stretched. The power cord should be long enough to prevent any possible
damaging, which could lead to lethal electric shock. Should there be any extension cords used, it must be ensured
that the core cross-section is approved for the power supply of the device. All warnings apply to any used extension
cables also.
Unplug the device from the mains if it is not used or before cleaning! Never pull on the power cord when unplugging
the device but always grab the power plug from its grip. Otherwise, the power cord might get damaged, which could
lead to lethal electric shock. If because of installation conditions the plugs or on/ off switches are not accessible, an
all-pole disconnection from the mains must be carried out.
No liquids should ever get into the mains outlets, power connections or any other holes or cracks on the housing of
the device. Should there be a slightest hint that even a minimal liquid quantity has gotten into the device, this must be
all-pole disconnected from mains. This is also applies when the device was exposed to high humidity like splash
water, rain or fog. Even if the device seemingly is still functioning a specialist must check if any isolation got affected
through entry of liquids. Reduced isolation may cause lethal electric shock.
No foreign objects, especially no metal parts, should ever get into the device. Should even the smallest metal parts, as
paper clips, staples or metal chips ever get into the device, the unit should be stopped instantly and all-pole
disconnected from the mains power supply. Metal parts may cause malfunctions of the unit and short circuits and
therefore represent a hazard, which may lead to lethal injuries.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Never use solvents or coarse cleansers for cleaning the device. Only use a soft damp cloth. The customer must
ensure that each installation is checked by an expert for technical safety and functioning on a yearly basis.
Please don’t open the motor housing of the unit. There are live components inside which could be dangerous for your
health.
The following points have to be considered during an inspection:
- All screws used for mounting the device and / or parts of it have to be tight and not corroded.
- No deformations should be noticeable on the housing, on mounting parts or installation place (ceiling,
suspension or cross beams).
- Mechanically moving parts, like shafts, loops or similar, must not show any traces of wearing (e.g. material
abrading or any damages) and must not be unbalanced.
- Cables of the electric power supply must not show any damages, material fatigue (e.g. porous cables) or
sediments. Further installation requirements depend on the place of installation as well as on the operating
regulations and should always be carried out by a professional and adequately eliminated.
- Maintenance and service operations are only to be carried out by authorized personnel. Use original spare
parts only!
Troubleshooting:
Turn plate doesn't rotate:
Check if the device is properly plugged into the mains supply
Check if there is electrical power on the mains
Check if a fuse might be blown. If so, replace it.
Motor is running but the turn plate doesn't rotate:
Safety clutch is worn out and has to be adjusted or replaced
Too much load on the turntable and the clutch is active
The construction is not smooth enough and/or is getting stopped by surroundings. Change the place of
mounting

Additional Warranty Policy
Please note our General Terms and Conditions available on our website at www.mte-motors.de .
Our turntables are manufactured in our own workshop facility. They are thoroughly examined, tested and comply with
our strict quality assurance requirements.
In order to reach a long life span of our mostly maintenance free turntables, proper operation and appropriate handling
are compulsory. Inadequate operation through stopping, overloading not just axially but also radially, as well as
humidity, may shorten the life span considerably and may damage the motor, the drive and the bearings. Connecting
large power consumers to the slip ring may lead to the destruction of the sliding contacts and of the slip tracks.
The time of warranty is limited to 12 months from the date of purchase. The warranty refers to the motor, the drive, as
well as to the rotating power transmission parts. By making usage of a warranty claim, the warranty period does not
get extended. For spare parts and maintenance works the warranty time comprises 6 months, however at least the
current warranty period. The document of purchase constitutes the evidence for a warranty claim.
Services:
For the time of the warranty period, we will eliminate all deficiencies of the product, which are proven to be caused by
material defects or production errors. We commit ourselves, by our choice, to exchanging the faulty product with a
non-defective one free of charge, to repairing or to replacing this through a lesser value. Replaced parts become
our property.
Refunding for costs implying dismantling and remounting, examination of certain parts as well as claims for lost profit
and compensations are excluded from warranty.
Also excluded are damages caused by:
Improper mounting and connection
Outdoors operation (excepting turntables that are specifically designed for such)
Improper putting into operation and handling
External factors, such as fire, water, extreme environmental conditions
Mechanical damages caused by dropping, hitting or similar
Involuntary or willful destruction
Normal wear (for ex. safety clutch or slip ring parts)
Early wear off of the safety clutch (for ex. due to frequent personal interference or unbalanced load)
Removing or obscuring any information pertaining the product specification or production date.
Please be advised, that our products may only be opened and dismantled with our prior consent and in concordance
with our instructions. Any warranty claims expire when repairs or interventions are made by persons who are not
qualified and who have not been authorized by us to do so. This also refers to cases when our products are equipped
with spare parts, substitute parts or components that are not original ones and therefore may inflict damages.
