Welcome
Congratulations on your purchase of the
Multicharge 1600 - designed to charge and
sync up to 16 USB chargeable devices at any
one time.
The Multicharge 1600 comes in two form factors: a
desktop version (1600D) and a 19 inch 3U rack version
(1600R). Unless otherwise stated, the instructions in this
User Guide refer to both models.
With the Multicharge 1600 you can charge up to 16
devices capable of being charged via USB cable. From
iPads, iPods and tablet PCs to smart phones, e-readers,
GoPro cameras and more, the Multicharge 1600 will
simultaneously charge up to sixteen USB chargeable
devices in any configuration, whether they are all the
same type of device, all dierent, or somewhere in
between.
Each USB port features two information LEDs allowing
you to easily see when each device is charged: red
indicates that a device is charging, while green indicates
that it is fully charged.
Intelligence built-in
All USB devices have a unique charging profile. Smart
phones charge at a dierent rate to tablets, products
from Apple® tend to charge at dierent rates to products
from Samsung®, and so on. With the Multicharge 1600,
optimal charging ensures that your connected devices
receive the correct voltage at the optimum rate for each
device, being charged in the quickest time according
to the manufacturer’s specification. Just like individually
plugging each device into an electric socket.
Sync easily
The Multicharge 1600 will sync devices capable of
being synced, which is great if you need to manage
multiple devices such as the Apple iPad®. Simply connect
your Mac or PC to the charger and open your syncing
software (e.g. iTunes/Apple Configurator). All your
connected devices will be listed, ready for you to sync.

Getting started
Contents
Please check that you have the following items:
• Multicharge 1600
Either 1600D (desktop version) or 1600R (19-inch
3U rack version).
• 1x Power cable
to connect to an electric wall socket.
• 1x USB ‘A to B’ cable
to connect a computer to the Multicharge 1600.
How to connect the mains power:
1. Remove any packaging from the charger. Place the
charger on a flat surface.
2. Plug one end of the power cable into the charger.
3. Plug the other end of the power cable into a mains
power outlet.
The Multicharge 1600 is powered when the main power
supply is connected and switched on. When powered,
yellow LEDs on the charger will flash twice to indicate
that it is ready to charge or sync.

5
Charging
How to charge your devices:
1. Ensure that the Multicharge is connected to mains
power and that no master computer is attached to
it. This is because if a master computer is connected
to the charger, it will activate Sync Mode.
2. Connect each device to an unused USB port on
the charger using approved USB cables. You
may connect your devices to any of the charger’s
available ‘Type A’ USB ports in any order. Once you
have done this, a red LED will illuminate to indicate
that the device is now charging.
3. When the LED changes to green, your device is
fully charged. You can now disconnect your device
from the charger. When all your devices have finished
charging, switch o the power to the Multicharge.
Notes
• A master computer should NOT be attached (unless you are
intending to sync your devices at the same time).
• You may connect a device for charging at any time when the
charger is on and no master computer is attached. You do
not need to wait until connected devices have fully charged.
Similarly, you can remove a device from the charger at any
time, regardless of how much charge the device contains.
• The charger will attempt to charge devices at the optimum
rate, regardless of how many devices are attached. By
identifying each device’s unique charging profile, they
will be charged in the quickest possible time as per the
manufacturer’s specifications.
• Should you ever need to change the USB charging cable for
your specific device, we recommend that you only use the
genuine cable that the device manufacturer makes available
for that particular model.
• Not every USB device has been tested for optimal charging
however firmware updates will be available from our website
as and when new device support becomes available.

6
Syncing
Before you begin, please ensure that you
have the following:
• Mac or PC, with USB port. (We recommend a Mac for
the syncing process as Macs come preinstalled with
software that is well-suited to this task.)
• Devices to be synced plus the original USB cables
supplied with each device (or certified and tested
equivalents).
• Syncing software – e.g. iTunes/Apple Configurator.
It is a good idea to check that you have the latest
software updates installed before connecting your
devices.
NB. If using iTunes, we recommend that you de-select
‘Check for new software updates automatically’ in your
iTunes preferences to prevent the automatic update
process from interfering with the syncing process.
How to synchronize (‘sync’) all your
attached devices:
1. Ensure that the Multicharge is connected to mains
power.
2. Connect your computer to the charger using the
supplied USB cable. Once this ‘master computer’ is
attached using the ‘A to B’ USB cable, the charger will
switch to Sync Mode.
3. Connect to the charger all the devices that you
wish to sync. These should all be the same type of
device (e.g. all iPads) and can be connected to any
of the Multicharge’s 16 USB ports in any order. We
recommend that you use the device manufacturers’
original USB cables for this purpose. As you connect
your devices, a yellow LED will illuminate to indicate
that the device is connected and ready to be synced
from the computer.
4. Open the Syncing software (e.g. iTunes/Apple
Configurator) on your connected computer and
wait until you can see all your devices listed.

7
This may take a few moments to complete. Once the
master computer has listed all the devices, you are
ready to sync them.
5. Sync your devices. For this step, please refer to the
instructions in your Syncing software.
6. Once you have completed the sync and before
unplugging any cables, you should safely
disconnect/remove each connected device from
within the syncing software or computer operating
system. Sometimes this is known as ‘ejecting’ or
‘unmounting’ the device and involves either clicking
an eject symbol next to each device, or right-clicking
on the device name and choosing ‘unmount’.
7. Unplug the USB cable from your computer and the
other end from the charger.
8. When you are ready, unplug each device’s USB
cable from the charger.
Notes
• While in Sync Mode, the Multicharge 1600 will supply all
connected devices with, at minimum, a trickle charge to
ensure that they do not run out of power during the syncing
process.
• The Multicharge 1600 allows most recent devices to charge
and sync at the same time. This feature allows you to leave
devices to sync overnight or for long periods of time without
worrying about the devices not being fully charged. (Older
Apple devices may require a firmware update available from
www.multicharge.com to take advantage of this feature.)
• Not every USB-chargeable device is capable of being
synced, however you may find that you can still use the
charger much like a USB hub with each device appearing on
your computer as a mounted volume.
• You can use a Windows PC as the master computer, however
you may need a third party program such as MediaMonkey
or the The Missing Sync in order to carry out the sync.
Reliability of PC syncing software varies and this is why we
recommend a Mac to act as the master computer, particularly
if you are syncing Apple devices.
