Battery

In case the battery electrolyte liquid, (dilute sulfuric acid),

In case the battery electrolyte liquid, (dilute sulfuric acid),
comes in contact with your
eyes
, rinse eyes immediately
withplentyofwater,thencontactthenearestdoctororhospital
andseek medical attention.
Thebatterycontainsacidthat can cause injury to the eyes and
skin. Toavoideye irritation,
always
wear safetyglassesor face
shielding. Usewell insulated gloves whenhandlingthe battery.
Use the following guidelines when handling the battery.
■
Use chock-blocks underneath each wheel when parked to
preventtrailer from rolling.
■
Use the trailer's swivel jack to adjust the trailer height to a
level position while parked.
■
Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts. Thiscancausethe trailer to
skid or jack-knife. Smooth, gradual starts and stops will
improvetowing.
■
Avoidsharp turns.
■
Trailer should be adjusted to a level position at all times
whentowing.
■
Raiseand lock trailer wheelstandin the "UP"positionwhen
transporting.
■
DOTrequirementsinclude the following:
Connectand test electric brake operation.
Secureportablepowercablesincable tray with tie wraps.
■
DO NOT drop the battery. Any impact to
thebattery may cause it toexplode.
■
DONOTexposethebatterytoopenflames,
sparks, lit cigarettes etc. The battery
containscombustible gasesandliquids. If
these gases and liquids come in contact
withaflameorsparkanexplosioncanoccur.
■
ALWAYS keepthebattery charged. If the
batteryisnotchargedabuildupofcombustiblegaswilloccur.
■
ALWAYS keep battery cables in good working condition.
Repair or replace all worn cables.
■
ALWAYS disconnect the
negative battery terminal
before
performingservice on the trowel.
■
ALWAYS recharge the battery in a vented air environment
to avoid risk of a dangerous concentration of combustible
gases.

Towing Safety Precautions

before transporting trowel on public
roads.
To reduce the possibility of an accident while transporting the
trowelonpublicroads,alwaysmakesurethetrailerthatsupports
thetroweland thetowingvehicleareingoodoperating condition
andbothunitsaremechanicallysound.
Transporting
■
ALWAYS shutdown engine before transporting.
■
Tightenfueltankcapsecurelyand closefuel cockto prevent
fuelfrom spilling.
■
Drainfuelwhentransportingtrowelfor longdistancesorover
badroads.
■
Whenplacingthe trowelona truck-bedfortransport,
always
tie-downthe trowel.
■
Ifthetrowelis being transportedvia a trailer, makesure the
trailercomplies with all local and state safety transportation
laws. Refer to the following "
Towing Safety Precautions"
forbasic towingtechniques.
The following list of suggestions should be used when towing
yourtrowel:
■
Make sure the hitch and coupling of the towing vehicle are
ratedequalto,orgreaterthanthetrailer"grossvehicleweight
rating"(GVWR) of 6,000 lbs.
■
ALWAYS inspect the hitch and coupling for wear. NEVER
towa trailer with defective hitches,couplings,chains,etc.
■
Checkthetireairpressureonboth towingvehicleand trailer.
Trailer tires should be inflated to 50 psi cold
. Alsocheck
thetire tread wear on both vehicles.
■
ALWAYS make sure the trailer is equipped with "Safety
Chains ".
■
ALWAYS attach trailer's safety chains to towing vehicle
properly.
■
ALWAYS make sure the vehicle and trailer directional,
backup,brake, andtrailerlights areconnectedand working.
■
DO NOT exceed the recommended highway speed when
towing.
