Theengineof thisequipment

operate this equipment in

DO NOT remove the engine oil drain plug while the
engine is hot. Hot oil will gush out of the oil tank and
severelyscaldanypersons inthegeneral areaof the
generator.

theenginestartdifficult.
Wetstackingisacommonproblemwithdieselengines
which are operated for extended periods with light or
noloadapplied.Whenadieselengineoperateswithout
sufficientload(lessthan40%oftheratedoutput),itwill
not operateat itsoptimumtemperature.Thiswill allow
unburned fuel to accumulate in the exhaust system,
which can foul the fuel injectors, engine valves and
exhaust system, including turbochargers, and reduce
theoperatingperformance.
Inorderforadieselenginetooperateatpeakefficiency,
itmustbeabletoprovidefuelandairintheproperratio
andatahighenoughenginetemperaturefortheengine
tocompletelyburnallofthefuel.
Wet stacking does not usually cause any permanent
damage and can be alleviated if additional load is
appliedtorelievethecondition.It canreducethesystem
performance and increase maintenance. Applying an
increasing load over a period of time until the excess
fuel is burned off and the systemcapacity is reached
usually canrepair the condition.Thiscan takeseveral
hourstoburnofftheaccumulatedunburnedfuel.
State Health Safety Codes and Public Resources
Codesspecifythatincertainlocations,sparkarresters
mustbeusedoninternalcombustionenginesthatuse
hydrocarbonfuels.Asparkarrester isadevicedesigned
to prevent accidental discharge of sparks or flames
fromthe engineexhaust.Sparkarrestersare qualified
andratedbytheUnited States Forest Service for this
purpose. In order to comply with local laws regarding
spark arresters, consult the engine distributor or the
localHealthandSafetyAdministrator.

Checkwithyourlocalcountyorstatesafety
towing regulations, in addition to meeting
Department of Transportation (DOT)
SafetyTowingRegulations,beforetowing
yourlighttower.
In order to reduce the possibility of an accident while
transporting the light tower on public roads, ALWAYS
makesurethetrailer that supportsthe light tower and
thetowingvehiclearemechanicallysoundandingood
operatingcondition.
ALWAYSshutdownenginebeforetransporting.
Makesurethehitchandcouplingof thetowingvehicle
are rated equal to, or greater than the trailer “gross
vehicleweightrating.”
SAFETY INFORMATION
ALWAYSinspectthehitchandcouplingforwear.NEVER
towatrailerwithdefectivehitches,couplings,chains,etc.
Checkthetireairpressureonbothtowingvehicleand
trailer.Trailertiresshouldbeinflatedto50psi cold.
Alsocheckthetiretreadwearonbothvehicles.
ALWAYSmakesurethetrailerisequippedwithasafety
chain.
ALWAYSproperlyattachtrailer’ssafetychainstotowing
vehicle.
ALWAYSmakesurethevehicleandtrailer directional,
backup, brake and trailer lights are connected and
workingproperly.
DOTRequirementsincludethefollowing:
•Connectandtestelectricbrakeoperation.
• Secure portable power cables in cable tray with tie
wraps.
The maximum speed for highway towing is 55 MPH
(86 km/h) unlesspostedotherwise.Recommendedoff-
roadtowingisnot to exceed 15MPH(24 km/h)or less
dependingontypeofterrain.
Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.Thiscancauseskidding,
or jack-knifing. Smooth, gradual starts and stops will
improvetowing.
Avoidsharpturnstopreventrolling.
Trailershouldbeadjustedtoalevelpositionatalltimes
whentowing.
Raise and lock trailer jack standsin up positionwhen
towing.

Strapsandchainsshouldberoutedthroughthetransport
tie-down points located beneath each corner of the
cabinet to alloweven application of force to the front
andrearofthemachine.
DONOTsecuretheunitbyrunningastraporchainover
the tongue of the light tower.This may cause severe

Theelectricalvoltagerequiredtooperatethegenerator

contact with livecircuits.Turngenerator andall circuit
breakers OFF before performing maintenance on the
generator.
NEVERinsert any objectsintotheoutput
receptacles during operation. This is
extremelydangerous.Thepossibilityexists
of electrical shock, electrocution or
death.
NEVERoperatelight tower
or handle any electrical
equipmentwhilestandingin
water, whilebarefoot,while
handsarewetorintherain.
A dangerous electrical
shockcouldoccur, causing
severe bodily harm or
evendeath.
ALWAYS make sure the
areaabovethelight toweris
openandclearofoverhead
power lines and other
obstructions. The tower
extends in excess of 30
feet (9 meters). Contact
with overhead power
lines or other obstructions
could result in equipment
damage, electrical shock,

Similar to boom equipment, light tower may become
energizedwithhighvoltage.DONOToperatethelight
tower within a radial distance of 17 feet (5.1 meters)
from highvoltagepower lines.If light tower becomes
energizedwithhighvoltage,contactwiththeequipment
couldresultinelectrocution.
NEVERoperateGB4000inwindsinexcessof40MPH
(64km/h).

fromthelighttowertoanextrnalgroundingsource.
ALWAYSmakesurethatelectricalcircuitsareproperly
grounded to a suitable earth ground (ground rod) per
the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes
beforeoperatinggenerator.Severeinjuryordeathby
electrocutioncanresultfromoperatinganungrounded
generator.

GENERAL INFORMATION
TheGB4000lampfi tureisadifusedballoonlight that is
designedtobemountedandoperatedonmost conventional
mobile light tower masts. Its design and features permit
clean,difusedlighttobecastuniformlyover232feet(70.7
meters).
The shadow-less lighting dramatically reduces glare in
the work area.This type of lighting improves safety and
enhances the illuminated area.The GB4000 is ideal for
highwaywork,constructionjobsites,securitysupport,and
specialevents.
Theballoonlightassemblyissupportedbyfour1000-watt
metalhalidelamps,self-inflatingdurablepolyesterballoon
bag, protective lamp guard, quick disconnect communal
mastbracket,andself-containedelectricaljunctionbox.
Onceattachedtothemast,theGB4000utilizestheballast
assembly,electricalconduits,andreceptacleconnections
ofconventionalmobilelighttowerstopermitoperation.
The GB4000requires2000watts of power and thehost
lighttowerelectricalballastsystemforoperation.Totallamp
operationwill belimitedtothedesignandcapacityof the
hostlighttower.
Theuniteasilydisconnectsfromthelighttowermastand
canbeeasilystoredinitsprotectivecanvascovercase.

balloonandfour1000-wattmetalhalidelamps.

attachedtothepoleonthebracket.
3. Balloon Power Cable —Provides ACpower to the
lamps,fanandballooninflationcircuit.
4. Adapter Plate —Attaches to the T-Bar and mast
interfaceof thelighttowertoallowtheGB4000tobe
installed.
NOTICE
Thisadapterplate(item4)fitsmostconventionallight
towermasts.
5. JunctionBox—Holdstheelectrical connectionand
cablestoconnectthelampfi turetotheT-Barandto
thepowercable.
6. Support Bracket —Attaches to T-Bar to support
adapterplate(hardwarenotshown).
7. Connector Cap — Provides protection to the
receptacleonthejunctionboxwhennotinuse.

1. Placethelight tower inanareafreeof dirtanddebris
with enough clearance as not to interfere with any
overheadobstructions.Makesureitisonsecurelevel
ground withchockblocks underneatheachwheel to
preventthelighttowerfromrolling.

LAMPADAPTERPLATEMOUNTINGINSTALLATION
1. Remove the adapter plate kit hardware from its
container.
2. Beforeproceedingmakesurethelight tower mast is
inthestowposition(down) andthecradlelock/release
pinhasbeeninsertedandthemastislocked.
3. Attachthelampadapter platetotheT-Bar as shown
inFigure7.Alignadapterplatesothatadapterspacer
notchfitsoverscrewonT-Bar.Paycloseattentionto
theorientationofthetwosupportbrackets.
4. Mount the flat end of both support brackets flush
against the T-Bar with the low end of each bracket
facing inwards toward the mast. The raised end of
eachbracketshouldbefacingoutward.
SETUP
5. Next, insert a bolt (4) and flat washer (4) thru the
mountingholesontheadapterplateasshowninFigure
7.Again,paycloseattentiononwhichset of holesto
inserttheboltsthru.Boltnumber2mustbeoriented
so that it passes between receptaclesJ1 and J2 on
theT-Bar.
6. SecuretheadapterplatetotheT-Barusingthesupplied
flatwasher(4),lockwasher(4)andnut(4).Makesure
theadapterplateislevel(useabubblelevel)andboth
brackets are straight (vertical), not slanted, before
tightening.
NOTICE
Paycloseattentiontotheorientationof thetwosupport
brackets.Eachbracket hasahighandlowside.Thelow
sideof thebracket shouldbefacinginwardstowards
themast.
