Maintain regularly
At least once a year check between the plug and inlet for dust and make sure the power cord is
undamaged.
If there is a malfunction
Do the following if you detect strange noises, smells, or smoke emitting from this machine.
1. Set the power switch to OFF.
2. Unplug the power plug from the outlet.
3. Contact your authorized Muratec dealer.

What is an En E r g y St a r

program?
The international En E r g y St a r
®
program is the international program to promote energy efficient consumer
products. This program aims the reduction of power consumption of office equipments, of which power are often
turned ON for a long time, from the energy saving view that “efficiently use the energy when needed”.
It adopts the voluntary system a manufacturer can join by its independent decision.

Acoustic Noise
Machine Noise Regulation 3 GPSGV, the sound pressure level at the operator position according to EN ISO 7779
is equal to or less than 70dB(A).
Ozone Release
Locate the machine in a well ventilated room. A negligible amount of ozone is generated during normal opera-
tion of this machine. An unpleasant odor may, however, be created in poorly ventilated rooms during extensive
machine operations.
For a comfortable, healthy, and safe operating environment, it is recommended that the room be well ventilated.

Precautions
Installing the machine
Install in a well ventilated position.
This machine produces ozone during use. The amount of ozone produced is not enough to cause harm, but ensure
there is proper ventilation when using the machine in poorly ventilated rooms over long periods, or printing in
large amounts.
IMPORTANT
•Installthemachinetokeeptheventilatingholeofthemachineatleast10cmawayfromwallsorotherde-
vices.
•Toensureproperventilationandeasyoperation,secureanadequateinstallationspacearoundthemachine.
•Useyourmachinewithinthetemperaturerangeof10°Cto32°C,thehumidityrangeof20%to80%RH.
•Avoidinstallingorusingoutdoors.

Transporting the machine
•Beforetransportingthemachine,besuretocheckthatyoudisconnecttheplugfromtheoutletandremovethe
line cable. Use at least two people to move the machine.
•Whentransportingthemachine,removethetonercartridge.
•Whentransportingthemachine,supportthepartsshowninthegurebelow.Whenyouliftthemachine,be
sure to bend your knees sufficiently so as not to damage your back.

Handling of consumables
Never burn or dispose of the toner cartridge or developing unit in a fire. This could cause any remaining toner to
ignite, resulting in a larger fire and/or burns.
Toner cartridges should not be opened with force. Leaking toner should not be inhaled. Contact with skin should
also be avoided. Cartridges should be stored out of children reach. If your skin get in contact with toner clean it
under floating water and soap. In case of skin irritation please consult a doctor.

defects in printing quality.
•Donotdisassemblethedrumunit,developingunit,ortonercartridge.
•Protectthedrumunit,developingunit,andtonercartridgefromshocksandvibration.
•Donotremovethedrumunit,developingunit,andtonercartridgefromtheirpackaginguntilyouarereadyto
use them.
Daily maintenance
•Thefuserunitandareaarounditinsidethemachineareextremelyhotwhenoperating.Whenyouclearthe
paper jam or inspect inside, be careful not to touch around the fuser unit. It may cause burns.
•Whenclearingpaperjamsorreplacingthetonercartridge,becarefulnottogettonerpowderintoyoureyes
or mouth. If the toner gets in your eyes or mouth, immediately flush with clean water and seek medical assis-
tance.
•Becarefulnottostainyourhandsorclotheswiththetoner.Ifyourhandsorclothesgetstained,washthem
immediately with cold water. The stains may become permanent if washed using warm water.
•Donotperformanyoperationsnotdescribedinthismanual.

Ventilation
•Pleaseusethismachineinaplacewithgoodventilation.
Using it for long periods in poor ventilation may harm your health. Please periodically ventilate the room.
•Donotblocktheheatdissipationventsofthemachine.Poorheatdissipationcanleadtoariseininternal
temperatures and cause malfunctions.
•Newmachinesareemittingsomegasesingeneral.Accordingtothispleasetakecareofaiructuationsinthe
room for the first days. At high usage it is recommended to keep a distance to the working places.
Battery
A lithium battery and Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries are installed inside machine as back up memory
batteries. (Refer to “Recycling,” below.)
Recycling
Old machines, batteries, empty toner cartridges, drum units and developing units will be return the local
Muratec partner and will be recycled. Machines for consumer usage can be recycled at local recycling stations
without any charge. Batteries should not be thrown in the usual waste.

Main Features
This is a digital multifunction peripheral (MFP) that can copy, fax, scan, and print in black and white. As well as
full functionality as a fax machine, there are also many other features. Fit the optional network kit to use it as a
network printer and scanner to raise the productivity of your workplace.

lever
Used to open the document cover.
2 Document guide Adjust this guide to match the paper width.
3 Document tray Place the documents with the side to be scanned facing up.
4 Document output tray A document is output.
5 Side cover Open to clear paper jams or to replace the drum unit.
6 Side cover release lever Used to open the side cover.
7 Bypass tray Used when you copy or print onto different paper from one loaded in cas-
settes.
To use the bypass tray, hold the upper knob and open.
8 Side cover release lever
(paper cassette)
Used to open the side cover of the paper cassette.
9 Front cover Open to replace the toner cartridge, developing unit, and drum unit.
10 Paper source Load paper.
2nd to 3rd paper cassettes are optional.
11 Paper output tray Copied or printed paper is output here.
12 Control panel The keys required for operation and the LCD are organized.

5 Fuser unit This becomes hot during operation. Be careful not to burn yourself.
6 Photoreceptor drum Do not touch with your hands. This could cause defects in printing qual-
ity.
7 Waste toner bottle Used toner is recovered in this bottle.
8 Drum unit knob When replacing the drum unit, hold this knob to remove.
9 Developing unit lock release

Rotate to remove the developing unit.
10 Developing unit handle Hold this handle and pull to remove the developing unit.
11 Recording head lock release
lever
Rotate this lever to move the recording head out of the way when re-
placing the drum unit.
