11.- FALCON-212A RIGGING SYSTEM INTRODUCTION
Safety is the most important issue when suspending heavy-weight loads such as a Professional Sound System like FALCON-212A,
especially when it´s hanging above heads of personnel; professional or not.
A deficient suspension and rigging techniques, the use of non-original FALCON-212A rigging parts, even a non-appropriate equipment
may cause serious legal issues related to property damages or personal injury.
Never think all secure measures are too much: read or assist to Hoist manufacturers seminars and consult every aspect of this business

Follow all rules and advice provided by your trussing or any other suspension system manufacturer and be sure that your structure can
meet with weight requirements.
Finally, please be sure to understand and follow any Local Safety Regulations; you must strictly follow all Security Load Factors prescribed
by Authorities.
11.1- FALCON-212 RIGGING SYSTEM PARTS
Rigging system in FALCON-212A is completely integrated in cabinet. In fact, no iron, steel
or aluminium panels are directly to sight.
There is an internal iron reinforced structure joining front and rear rigging panels covered by
cabinet laterals.
FALCON-212A Rigging System consists of next parts:
1.- Array frame not supplied with FALCON Series. User must purchase one frame per each
array. Frame is made of Steel DIN6941 to ensure an ultimate strength. Frame has been
designed with a secure strength of 1400Kp.
2.- Rigging system attached to each Falcon-212A cabinet made also in steel DIN6941 structure with 1.5mm thickness. Rigging system is
located under each Falcon-212 side parts fixed to cabinet with 6 M6 Allen screws. This, allows user to change any rigging system in case of
any damage.
3.- Front and rear rigging pieces to attach between Falcon-212A rigging systems. There are 2 front
and 2 rear pieces already supplied with rigging system made of 10mm thickness aluminium alloy. Rear
rigging parts will offer to user a direct view to splay angles selected between two boxes.
4.- Quick-Release pins 17-4 Stainless Steel Double Shear with a total amount of 8 pieces per cabinet.
It´s completely necessary for a safe use to inspect all components of the array; cabinets, frames, rigging systems, rigging pieces, pins, …
for deformations, corrosion or damaged parts.
Use always most conservative design factors 7:1 to ensure a maximum level of security.
11.2- ARRAY ANGLE SELECTION
1.- Vertical Array angle adjustment.
User may use 1 or 2 hoist in frame to lift array.
When 1 single hoist is used, total number of cabinets in array and angles between them, will
determine the hole in the frame to reach correct array angle depending on centre of gravity.
A secondary chain hooked to last frame hole can be used to modify final array angle
configuration.
When using 2 hoist, user can fix correct array angle by moving upwards or downwards each
of them independently.
2.- Angle between boxes adjustment.
Please, refer to figure to check all necessary parts for Falcon-212A array elevation including
frame and 2 boxes.
Each cabinet has 2 front + 2 rear ( with angles adjustment drawing ) rigging pieces, 4 quick-
lock pins each cabinet side.

FA

Página 14
To fix correct angles, user should select 0º between array frame a first Falcon212-A unit by choosing selected holes in rear piece and then
adjusting angles for next cabinets according with Falcon-212A Software.
Please, note that angles adjustment can be fixed following rear rigging pieces drawing as well as on metal plate placed on both sides of
cabinet.
Note that rear rigging piece can be taken out of rigging tube. Please, be careful when assembling and disassembling array to keep parts
under control to avoid losses.
You should never use in any case non original rigging parts that may change security parameters.
Enclosure side parts drawings and rear rigging piece will indicate right fixing points to configure interboxes splay angles from 0º to 8º in 1º
steps.
Pease, check next 2 figures with 0º,2º and 3º, 5º splay angles selection. Be aware that:
- EVEN ANGLES ( 0º, 2º, 4º, 6º, 8º ): quick-lock pin should be inserted in UPPER hole as shown in left-down figure
- ODD ANGLES ( 1º, 3º, 5º, 7º ) : quick-lock pin should be inserted in LOWER hole as shown in right-down figure
12.- MUSICSON INTER-BOXES ANGLES SIMULATION TOOL
Musicson provides to all Falcon Series users an easy-to-use tool to automatically and/or manually calculate and optimize inter-boxes splay
angles.
Angles Simulation Tool is based on a complex Excel Workbook.
There are some parameters to be introduced by Engineer:
- Venue measures in 3 different planes if needed. Parameters needed are: Front and Rear distances of each plane and Front and Rear
Heights. Please, click with mouse over small white square besides Planes to activate or remove each Plane.
- Number of boxes to be used: from 4 to 16 enclosures.
- Array Frame Elevation.
- Box Model. In this case, FALCON-212 .
Once entered all input parameters, User should click over “Automatic Splay Angles Calculator” button and Musicson Angles Simulation
tool shows a graph about SPL distribution along the audience in 4 selectables frequencies: 1Khz, 2Khz, 4Khz and 8Khz.
User can manually change any box splay angle to optimize final results while graph shows new results concerning any change.
Important!:Use correct Front and Rear Heights in each Plane considering if Audience will be seated or standing.
If seated, please, add 0.8m to 1m to planes height.
If standing up, add 1.75 to 1.9m to planes height.
In order to optimize SPL distribution along the Audience as much as possible with small linear SPL losses along the audience distance,
Musicson strongly recommend to use 8000Hz as selected Frequency which will be most sensitive with splay angles configuration.

This chapter shows some optimized configurations using Automatic calculator and also making some Manual changes.
1.- A simple 4 x FALCON-212 system configuration.
- 4 x Falcon-212 units each channel.
- Frame elevation: 6m
- Length venue: 50m
Automatic Simulation Manual Optimization
In Manual Optimization, splay angles have been changed.
SPL distribution graph along the Audience shows small losses in high frequencies from 10m to 20m ( yellow marked) which has been
improved manually y changing some splay angles; also some SPL value increased from 40m to the end of Audience.
In this case, “Splay Angles” in BOX 2 (3º→2º), BOX 3 (6º→4º) and BOX 4 (8º→6º) have been manually modified.
2.- A More complex Falcon-212 Simulation with 3 Audience Planes.
- 10 x falcon-212 units each channel
- Frame Elevation 14m.
- 3 Audience Planes activated
Automatic Simulation Manual Simulation
In this case, Automatic Simulation shows very good results with quite more SPL between 6m and 30m and some losses from 98m till the
end.
Please, check yellow circles in “SPL Along Seating Planes”.
Making some Manual “Splay Angles” changes in BOX 2 (2º→1º), BOX 6 (3º→2º) and BOX 9 (8º→7º) in Falcon-212 system has been
modified to have a more constant SPL pressure along 3 Audience Zones with no losses until 110m.
FOH engineer can make MANUAL changes over “Frame Sight Angle”, “Frame Elevation”, “Interboxes Splay Angles” and “Boxes
Gain” to get most adequate SPL distribution along Audience Areas.
Important!: Please, do not use too small “Distance to Front” values to avoid too many maximum splay angles ( 8º ) in last boxes
on array. Normally, in arrays such this ones, a front field speakers will be used to cover closer distance so, this fact must be
considered.
