Quick operating guide* –
Blood glucose measurement with
TIP: Before measuring, wash your hands
thoroughly, keep them warm
or gently massage the (lancet)
insertion point before measuring to
stimulate the circulation.
PREPARING THE LANCING DEVICE
Pull off the cap from the
lancing device.

Fit a new lancet into the lancet
holder.
- Twist off the lancet cap.

Replace the cap on the
lancing device.

Adjust the penetration depth.

Pull the tensioning device
until you hear a click.

- Your reading is shown on the
display together with the time
and date.
- Press the ‘Confirm’ button
and confirm the suggested
mealtime tag.
- The measurement result is
saved automatically.
1. CARRYING OUT A MEASUREMENT

Inserting a test strip
- Insert the test strip into the
test strip slot with the contacts
pointing upwards.
IMPORTANT: Please only use BGStar®
test strips with the MyStar Extra®system.
Calculation of reading
- Remove the test strip from the
blood sample when you hear
a beep.
- The scroll bar and the
animation of the number
sequence 1-2-3 show that your
result is being calculated.
TIP: If the suggested mealtime tag is
incorrect, you can change it within
the next 48 hours.
Taking a blood sample
- Position the lancing device on
your finger pad and press the
release button.
- For taking blood samples
from alternative parts if
the body, please read the
operating instructions.
Application of the blood sample
- Dip the test strip into the blood
sample
- The measuring device now
displays the ‘drop’ symbol
- The test strip absorbs blood
from the tip so that it is full
2. CONCLUDING THE MEASUREMENT
Remove the used test strip
- Dispose of the test strip in the proper manner.
- The blood glucose measurement device will
switch off automatically.
Pull off the cap from the lancing device and
place the lancet cap on the lancet.
Remove the used lancet and dispose of it in
the proper manner.
