> FEATURES
> POSITIONING
Small is beautiful! The C 717 forms the heart of a high performance Audio Video system, and does it with a minimum use of resources. Its small
size and moderate price allow it to fit into places where our full size AV Components would simply be too much. Powerful enough to be the
primary entertainment center in an urban apartment, yet small enough to make a bedroom, dorm room, or office come alive with NAD sound
quality. The C 717 is a big performance step up from the ‘Home Theatre in a Box’ systems yet is priced very competitively.
> DETAILS
Performance
The C 717 is all about treading lightly and leaving a
small carbon footprint. Featuring a high efficiency
switch-mode power supply and Class D output stage,
the C 717 is 40% more efficient than an ordinary linear
amplifier. Combine this with 1W standby consumption
and you have a very efficient path to audio/video
enjoyment. Its conservatively rated amplifier can drive
high quality speakers to satisfying loudness levels
while using a minimum amount of electricity.
NAD takes a different view than most brands when
it comes to AV performance; we call it ‘Music First’.
continued>
Our philosophy states that pure music listening requires
a higher level of sonic performance than movie or TV
dialog. ‘Music First’ demands that our AV products
meet the same high standards for sonic performance
as our highly acclaimed stereo components.
Video performance is also exemplary whether you
use the progressive scan feature for digital TVs or
the standard interlaced output with older analog
sets. These settings are available via Component and
SCART to interface with any modern TV. Picture is
crisp but natural without any exaggerated ‘sharpness’
added. Colors are natural and vibrant with excellent
contrast and detail, even in the shadows.
Features
The C 717 is plush with useful features. The included
disc spinner plays a wide variety of formats from DVD
videos to MP3’s burned on a CD-R. Also on board is a
high performance AM/FM tuner with 30 preset station
memory and RDS text display. The C 717 can be set
to wake you with music from the FM Tuner or the DVD
drive. All functions can be controlled via the wireless
remote handset.
There are also extra inputs and outputs to allow for
system expansion. Popular options are the addition
of an active subwoofer, and the ability to feed your
satellite box via the C 717. The picture will be
forwarded to your TV and the sound sent to your
stereo speakers.
The DVD Player allows you to Search, Zoom and Scan
DVDs both Fast and Slow. For CD playback there are
options to Program specific tracks, Random Play and
Repeat Play. Bass and Treble controls allow fine tuning
of the sound to match the music and your speakers.
Value
By keeping things simple NAD is able to offer very high
levels of performance at a remarkable price. The ability
to use a wide variety of loudspeakers in a 2.0 or 2.1
configuration provides system options unavailable with
all-in-one systems, and allows you to select the perfect
speaker combination for your listening environment.
Additionally the very high efficiency amplification
will save you money every time you watch a movie
or listen to music. The C 717s small size allows it to
occupy desktops and bookshelves where similarly high
performance components would never fit.
