Congratulations on purchasing this Netbook Series Webbook mobile device po ered by the Microsoft®
Windo s CE® 5.0 Operating System. The size of the Netbook allo s you to carry it around ith you and
it’s capabilities allo you keep any important information close at hand. If you are familiar ith Microsoft
Windo s products, you ill notice that your Netbook has a lot of the same functionality you are used to,
making it easy for you to be productive quickly.

The Netbook , is highly portable & compact in its design, ith good performance, adaptability and
robustness. The NetBook optimised Windo s CE based operating system gives a user friendly interface
and ensures optimum performance ith the minimum of system resources.

2. Operating Syste Description
Microsoft Windo s CE is a scaled-do n version of the Windo s Operating System hich has been
designed specifically for lo po ered portable devices like the NetBook. With a user interface that
anyone ho has used Windo s before ill recognize straight a ay, Windo s CE allo s you to be up and
running ith the NetBook in a short period of time.
The NetBook supports connecting to a PC via ActiveSync hen running on Windo s 2000/XP.This allo s
files to be transferred, email to be synchronised and ne applications to be installed. Because of this
Windo s CE enhances the NetBook functionality and usability.
Note: ActiveSync is not supplied in the box, but can be do nloaded direct from Microsoft at:

5. Connecting to your desktop PC
Your NetBook Webbook orks perfectly as a standalone computer. But to get the most out it, you ill
ant to connect to your desktop or notebook PC. This chapter describes ho to establish a connection
bet een your NetBook and a desktop PC running ActiveSync or Windo s Mobile Device Center.
Connecting for the first ti e
You can connect your NetBook to a desktop PC using a USB cable ( hich is included). Before you
connect, you must install the required Microsoft soft are:
Windo s 2000 / XP – ActiveSync 4.5
Windo s Vista - Windo s Mobile Device Center
Once this soft are is installed on the desktop PC, you can connect your NetBook and establish a
partnership.
Connecting by USB port
1. Connect the flat USB "A" connector to an available USB port on your desktop PC.
2. Connect the flat USB "A" connector to the rear port on your NetBook.
Your NetBook should establish a connection to the desktop computer
Setting up Microsoft ActiveSync and establishing a partnership on Windows 2000 / XP
Microsoft ActiveSync enables you to synchronize the information on your desktop PC ith the information
on your NetBook. Synchronization compares the data on your device ith your desktop PC and updates
both computers ith the most recent information including Word, Excel documents.
With Microsoft ActiveSync, you can also:
Back up and restore your NetBook data.
Add and remove programs on your NetBook.
Move and copy files, instead of synchronizing them.
Before connecting to your NetBook for the first time using ActiveSync you ill need to configure it to
allo connections via USB connections.
Click the “File” menu option and select “Connection Settings…”, this ill open the Connection Settings
indo . Click in the Allo USB connections check box and then click the “OK” button as sho n belo :

Once Connection Settings have been changed ActiveSync ill automatically connect to the NetBook and
start the Synchronization Setup Wizard.
Click Next
Select the Information Types you ish to synchronize, initially e suggest just selecting Files. Then click
Next, Finish and Next to finish the configuration process.

The NetBook ill no be connected to your PC and ill synchronize any of the file types you have
selected.
The NetBook ill sho up as a Mobile Device in “My Computer” or “Windo s Explorer” and files can be
copied to it directly from here:

6. Battery Management
The NetBook uses an internal Li-Ion Battery, to ensure the best performance from this battery please
use the follo ing procedure to condition the battery. Before turning on the NetBook for the first time
plug the charger in and charge the battery until fully charged (the charging light has gone out). During
use e suggest charging the battery henever the battery po er is lo and allo the battery to fully
charge before disconnecting the charger.
How to Charge the Battery
1. Plug in the Po er adapter to Po er adaptor port of NetBook, the Battery charge LED ill light up.
Charging ill be completed once the LED has turned off.
2. To see the charging status, turn on the NetBook by pressing and holding the Po er on/off button.
Once the system has booted to the Windo s CE desktop, the Charging status ill be displayed on the
right hand side of the Menu bar as indicated belo .
3. During Battery Charging the NetBook can be used as normal, (Please be note that the charging time
ill be longer hen the system is in use).
4. Charging the Battery normally requires around 3 hours from lo battery charge to fully charged.
During Charging the machine ill become arm, but this is normal.
Checking the Battery Level
Double clicking the battery icon ill sho the percentage of battery po er remaining. This icon can
also be double clicked to sho the Po er Properties indo . This indo can also be sho n by clicking
the “Start” button, selecting and then
When the Control Panel is sho n, click the Po er Options icon to sho Po er Properties.
When the battery is almost empty, the “Main Batteries very lo ” popup ill appear as sho n belo , the
NetBook ill be automatically po er off after this popup has been displayed for a short time.

7. Basic Operation
1. Powering On and Off
1. Po er On: Press and hold the po er button until the Windo s CE Operating System starts to boot.
2. Po er Off: There are t o ays to turn off the NetBook:
① Press the po er button until the OS sho s that it is shutting do n.
② Po er off through “Start” Menu selection.
2. Using Applications
System applications can be started either by clicking on the icon of the relative application on the
Desktop, or by clicking the Start button and selecting the required program from the Programs Menu.

Double click the required Program
2. Open the Program directly by double clicking the desktop icon.
Please note, once several programs have been started, the icon can be used to minimize all the
open program indo s, this can be used to un-clutter the screen.
In order to use the NetBook in most efficient ay, it is suggested not to start too many programs at the
same time, or have too many Internet Explorer indo s open together. Other ise the system may start
to slo do n.
3. Keyboard Introduction
The NetBook uses an 80 key standard UK keyboard layout.

The Number Keypad (Blue Symbols on the Keyboard) becomes active hen the Num Lock key
has been pressed (the NUM Lock status LED ill light). Pressing the Num Lock again ill disable this
function.
There are also a number of Function Keys hich can be used
4. Mouse Pad
The Mouse pad is a pointer device hich can ork as a normal mouse. The surface of the mouse pad can
sense finger movement in order to control the pointers movement on the screen. The t o buttons on the
left and right side of the pad operate in exactly the same ay as the buttons on a normal mouse.

The Mouse Pad can also have the same functionality as pressing the left mouse button as described:
Fast Single Tap of Pad : Normal selection function
Fast Double Tap of Pad : Start up the application
Moving an Object :
1. Move pointer to the object hich you ant to move, press and hold Left button of the PAD, then move
the pointer to the location required.
2. Release the button and finger on the pad
Please note:
Please don’t put objects on the mouse pads surface hich could scratch or compress the pad because
this could cause permanent damage.
5. How to use SD Cards
Using the SD Card:
1. Please insert the SD Card (Brand name side face do n) into the Card slot as sho n belo .
Push the SD Card into the slot until it “clicks” into place to confirm the card is in correctly and locked into
position. To vie documents on the SD Card:
1. Double Click “My Computer” on desktop, and the follo ing screen belo ill be displayed.

2. Double click the icon as to vie the files stored on the SD Card.
3. Files or applications stored on the SD Card can be opened or run directly from the Card or copied
to the main system drive.
To remove the SD card：
1. Close any applications or documents hich have been opened from the SD Card.
2. Lightly press the card, it ill part eject automatically, remove the card from the slot.
Note：
1. Please insert the card the right ay round and don’t try to force a card into the slot.
2. If an SD Card has been locked, the NetBook cannot format or copy data to the card.
3. Please do not repeatedly insert and remove the card, this may cause damage to the card.
4. We suggest using CnM or other major brands of SD card to avoid any incompatibility.
6. Connecting USB Devices
The NetBook has 2 USB device ports, hich can be used to connect to USB devices such as Keyboards
and Mouse etc. Because of the NetBook support for connecting to a PC via ActiveSync or Windo s Mobile
Device Center, there is no support for USB Memory Sticks or Storage devices like MP3 Players, Cameras,
External Hard Drives, External Optical Drives and USB Printers.
The rear USB port is the only port that supports ActiveSync, so please use this port hen connecting the
NetBook to a PC.

7. Co unication with Ethernet LAN
The NetBook has a External 10/100 Ethernet Port that can be used to connect to a LAN (Local Area
Net ork).
USB Port
Once a net ork has been connected, the net ork icon ill change from to in the Start bar, at the
bottom right hand side of the display.
1. Click the “Start” icon.
2. Select “Net ork Connections” and the follo ing ill be displayed:
3. Select and press right mouse, the Ethernet Driver Settings screen ill appear the
“Enable”.
Note: Please unplug all the connections before moving the NetBook, as damage may occur if any force is
applied to these connectors.

8.WiFi Connection Setting
Before using the WiFi Connection, please make sure you kno the SSID (name of the net ork to hich
you are going to connect) and security key (such as WEP, WPA) assuming the net ork is secure.
S itch On/Off WiFi function
The NetBook contains an internal WiFi device, that is s itched on by default.
To turn the device Off or On, click the Start button, click “Settings” and then click “NetWorking
Connections”, Finally select the WIFI ICON, and click right mouse to appear “Enable”
To find out the status of the WiFi Device, double click the icon on the menu bar, the follo ing
indo ill pop up.
Select “Wireless Information”,
All the ireless routers ithin range ill automatically be detected as sho n above. Select your router
by clicking the router name in the list, such as “link2” sho n above.

If net ork doesn’t have pass ord, you can click to start the connection, if successful, the
Dialog box ”Wireless Information” ill sho the related information such as connection status, signal
strength.
If the connection is successful, the menu bar icon ill change from to this icon ill flash during
data transfer. If security Encryption is enabled on the Wireless Net ork you are connecting to, the
Wireless Net ork Properties screen ill be sho n. This ill require the Encryption type to be chosen, t o
Security types are supported, WEP (16 bit and32 bit), and WPA-PSK.
Note: The Security Key may be printed on a sticker on the Wireless Router, or it may have been supplied
ith the documentation you received ith the equipment. If not please contact your service provider or
hoever setup the Router to obtain the correct information for your ireless net ork.
You can also try deleting all the detected router names (by right click and selecting “delete”), then s itch
the WiFi off and on again, then entering related data for your ireless net ork and repeat the procedure
for your ireless net ork name again as described before.
To delete a detected ireless net ork, in the indo “GSPI86861”, press the right button once the
correct ireless net ork has been selected as sho n:

8. Applications
1. Internet Explorer
You can make use of IE to obtain information from internet eb, music do nload, etc
（1）Click on desktop to open Web Bro ser.
（2）Enter eb address for the ebsite you
ish to bro se.
（3）To close Internet Explorer select the File menu and choose the Close option, or press (Alt+F4), or
click
（4）To save the current Web Site page to disk select the File menu and choose the Save page option.

By default the files ill be saved to NAND Flash directory.
Please Note: This version of Internet Explorer has li ited support for JavaScript and supports
Adobe Flash Movies up to version 7.
2. Mobile Hot ail
Hotmail is one of the most idely used Online Email Clients, unfortunately the main Hotmail site is
constantly being updated hich can cause compatibility issues ith mobile devices. With this in mind the
NetBook has a link for the mobile version of Hotmail hich is designed ith compatibility and speed in
mind instead of advanced features.
Double click the “Mobile Hotmail” icon on desktop and it ill open as sho n belo :
Login ith your Windo s Live ID and Pass ord and you ill see all your current emails in the Inbox.
Scrolling to the bottom of the page ill reveal links for Creating a Ne Message, Navigating to other
Folders, Contacts, the MSN Home page and Junk Mail. At the bottom of the page is the Sign Out button.

3. Core Player – YouTube
Core Player is an advanced multimedia player hich can be used to play standard multimedia files, but
has been specifically configured for use ith YouTube
Double click the “Core Player” icon on desktop and it ill open as sho n belo :
The Menu Bar hich has the File, Vie , Play and
Tools option can be accessed by clicking the
Arro indicated.
From the File menu normal multimedia files can
be opened for vie ing.
In the bottom right hand corner is a YouTube
link. Clicking on this ill make Core Player
connect to YouTube. Note: You must be
connected to the Internet for this to ork.
Once connected to YouTube a number of links ill
Appear on the left hand side of the screen.
Clicking on these links ill bring up a list of videos
hich are on listed ithin YouTube in these
categories.
You can also use the search box at the bottom of
the screen to search for any specific key ords.
In the example to the left the key ord used for
a search has been NetBook, hich has listed
t o videos hich have this key ord.
By clicking on a video you can play it ithin
Core Player as sho n belo .
The video is controlled using standard Play, Fast
For ard, Re ind and Stop icons.
To return to the list of available videos click the
Green back arro in the top left hand corner of
the screen.

4. Word Processing – WordPad
The NetBook includes Microsoft WordPad, hich can be used to process many Word Document formats
such as *.doc, *.dot, *.p t , *.p d, *.rtf and *.txt. It is a simple Word Processor, hich provides most
of the basic document editing functions found in Word including formatting text, but it lacks features
such as a spell checker, thesaurus and support for tables.
WordPad can support Microsoft Word documents up to version 2003, but there may be some incorrect
formatting hen opening these documents.
Double click the “Microsoft WordPad” icon on desktop and it ill open as sho n belo :
6. Spreadsheet - SpreadCE
SpreadCE is a fully featured Spreadsheet application hich is packed ith most of the features and
options available in Microsoft Excel. It supports the follo ing features:

•327 orksheet functions.
•179 macro functions for custom functions and commands.
