2. Open the NETGEAR Insight app.
3. If you did not set up a NETGEAR account, tap Create NETGEAR Account and follow
the onscreen instructions.
4. Enter the email address and password for your account and tap LOG IN. After you log
in to your account, the switch displays in the devices list.
5. Tap + in the upper right corner.
6. Either use the camera on your phone to scan the serial number bar code located on
the bottom of the switch, or enter the serial number.
7. Tap Go.
8. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your switch to a network location.
9. The switch is registered and added to your NETGEAR account.
For information about how to congure the switch, see the user manual, which you can
download from netgear.com/support/.
Discover the IP address of the switch
An IP address is required to congure your switch. The switch gets an IP address from a
DHCP server (such as your router) by default. If your switch is not connected to a DHCP
server, use the default IP address: 192.168.0.239. If the switch is connected to a WiFi
router or access point, you can use the NETGEAR Insight app to discover the IP address of
the switch.
1. Connect your mobile device to the same WiFi network as the switch.
2. Make sure that the network connects to the Internet.
3. Launch the NETGEAR Insight app from your mobile device.
4. Log in to your account.
The current IP address of the switch displays.
Congure the switch with a static IP address
Note: If your network uses a DHCP server, this section does not apply.
If you are using static IP addresses in your network, congure the switch IP
address before you connect the switch to a network.

Troubleshooting tips
Here are some tips for correcting simple problems that might occur.
• Be sure to power on your computer and switch in the following sequence:
a. Turn on the switch and wait about two minutes.
b. Turn on the computer and connect it to the switch.
• Make sure the Ethernet cables are plugged in.
For each powered-on computer connected to the switch, the corresponding
switch LAN port status LED is lit.
• Make sure the network settings of the computer are correct.
In most cases, computers should be congured to obtain an IP address
through DHCP. If your network uses static IP addresses, be sure that the
switch and computer are congured with valid IP addresses. For more
information, see the software administration manual.
