ATTENTION:Theproperandsafelubricationandmaintenanceforthismachine,recommendedbyManufacturer,are
outlinedintheOPERATOR’SMANUALforthemachine.
Improperperformanceoflubricationormaintenanceproceduresaredangerousandcouldresultininjuryordeath.
ReadandunderstandtheMANUALbeforeperforminganylubricationormaintenance.
Theservicemanormechanicmaybeunfamiliarwithmanyofthesystemsonthismachine.Thismakesitimportant
tousecautionwhenperformingservicework.Aknowledgeofthesystemandorcomponentsisimportantbeforethe
removalordisassemblyofanycomponent.
Becauseofthesizeofsomeofthemachinecomponents,theservicemanormechanicshouldchecktheweights
notedinthismanual.Useproperliftingprocedureswhenremovinganycomponents.
Thefollowingisalistofbasicprecautionsthatmustalwaysbeobserved.
1.ReadandunderstandallWarningplatesanddecalonthemachinebeforeOperating,MaintainingorRepairing
thismachine.
2.Alwayswearprotectiveglassesandprotectiveshoeswhenworkingaroundmachines.Inparticular,wearpro-
tectiveglasseswhenusinghammers,punchesordriftsonanypartofthemachineorattachments.Usewelders
gloves,hood/goggles,apronandtheprotectiveclothingappropriatetotheweldingjobbeingperformed.Donot
wearloosettingortornclothing.Removeallringsfromngers,loosejewelry,connelonghairandloosecloth-
ingbeforeworkingonthismachinery.
3.Disconnectthebatteryandhanga"DoNotOperate"tagintheOperatorsCompartment.Removeignitionkeys.
4.Ifpossible,makeallrepairswiththemachineparkedonarmlevelsurface.Blockthemachinesoitdoesnot
rollwhileworkingonorunderthemachine.Hanga"DoNotOperate"tagintheOperatorsCompartment.
5.Donotworkonanymachinethatissupportedonlybylift,jacksorahoist.Alwaysuseblocksorjackstands,
capableofsupportingthemachine,beforeperforminganydisassembly.
ATTENTION:DonotoperatethismachineunlessyouhavereadandunderstandtheinstructionsintheOPER-
ATOR’SMANUAL.Impropermachineoperationisdangerousandcouldresultininjuryordeath.
6.Relieveallpressureinair,oilorwatersystemsbeforeanylines,ttingsorrelateditemsaredisconnectedor
removed.Alwaysmakesureallraisedcomponentsareblockedcorrectlyandbealertforpossiblepressure
whendisconnectinganydevicefromasystemthatutilizespressure.
7.Lowerthebucket,dozer,orotherattachmentstothegroundbeforeperforminganyworkonthemachine.Ifthis
cannotbedone,makesurethebucket,dozer,ripperorotherattachmentisblockedcorrectlytopreventitfrom
droppingunexpectedly.
8.Usestepsandgrabhandleswhenmountingordismountingamachine.Cleananymudordebrisfromsteps,
walkwaysorworkplatformsbeforeusing.Alwaysfacetothemachinewhenusingsteps,laddersandwalkways.
Whenitisnotpossibletousethedesignedaccesssystem,provideladders,scaffolds,orworkplatformstoper-
formsaferepairoperations.
9.Toavoidbackinjury,useahoistwhenliftingcomponentswhichweigh20kg(45lbs)ormore.Makesureallchains,
hooks,slings,etc.,areingoodconditionandarethecorrectcapacity.Besurehooksarepositionedcorrectly.
Liftingeyesarenottobesideloadedduringaliftingoperation.
10.T oavoidburns,bealertforhotpartsonmachineswhichhavejustbeenstoppedandhotuidsinlines,tubes
andcompartments.
11.Becarefulwhenremovingcoverplates.Graduallybackoffthelasttwocapscrewsornutslocatedatopposite
endsofthecoverordeviceandcarefullyprycoverloosetorelieveanyspringorotherpressure,beforeremoving
thelasttwocapscrewsornutscompletely.
12.Becarefulwhenremovingllercaps,breathersandplugsonthemachine.Holdaragoverthecaporplugto
preventbeingsprayedorsplashedbyliquidsunderpressure.Thedangerisevengreaterifthemachinehasjust
beenstoppedbecauseuidscanbehot.
13.Alwaysusethepropertoolsthatareingoodconditionandthataresuitedforthejobathand.Besureyou
understandhowtousethembeforeperforminganyservicework.
14.Reinstallallfastenerswiththesamepartnumber.Donotusealesserqualityfastenerifreplacementsarenec-
essary.
15.Repairswhichrequireweldingshouldbeperformedonlywiththebenetoftheappropriatereferenceinforma-
tionandbypersonneladequatelytrainedandknowledgeableinweldingprocedures.Determinetypeofmetal
