(2)InserttwonewAA-sizealkalinebatterieswiththecorrectpositive(+)andnegative(-)
polarityasindicatedbythediagraminsidethebatterycompartment.
(3)Pushthebatterycompartmentcoverdowntoclosesecurely.
•Replacethebatterieswhen:
A)Thefilmwindingspeedisslowerthanusual.
B)ThegreenLEDdoesnotcomeonwithin20sec.afteropeningthelenscover.
C)ThegreenLEDblinkswhenpressingtheshutterhalfway.

carefulnottolettheleaderextendtoofar,asitmaycauseexcessivefilmslackness.

(4)Closethebackcoveruntilyouheara clickindicatingthatitissecurelylocked.Ifthe
coverdoesnotcloseproperlywiththefilminplace,checkthatitislyingflatbetween
theguidesandthatthecartridgeissnuginthechamber.
(5)Depresstheshutterreleasebuttonhalfwayafterthecoverhasbeenclosed,andthe
filmwilladvanceautomaticallytoframecounternumberT.
NOTE:
Thecounterwillonlyworkwiththefilmproperlyinstalledinthecamera.Ifthe
filmcounterdoesnotadvance,repeatsteps(1)to(5).
HoldingtheCamera(Fig.F)
Thecameramustbeheldcorrectlywithbothhands,toensureconsistentlygood,sharp
photographs.
Itshouldbeheldsteadilyandcomfortablywhileyouaretakingphotographs.
TheillustrationsinFig.F showthecorrectwaystoholdthecamerainboththevertical
andhorizontalpositions.
Becarefulnottoblockanywindowonthefrontwithyourfingers.

Viewfinder
Lookthroughtheviewfinderandcomposeyourpictureinthewhiteframe.Whenyour
mainsubjectislocatedinthecentrefocusingframeoftheviewfinderandismorethan
1.2m (3.9ft)away,thecamerawillautomaticallyfocusonit.

Yourcameraistotallyautomatic.Exposure,focusandfilmadvanceareallhandled
automaticallybythecamera.Butwerecommendyoushootthepicturesafterconfirming
thatthegreenLEDisglowing,i.e.theflashisready.YoucanthusregardthisgreenLED
asa ready
sign.
Strictlyspeaking,however,properflashexposuredependsonthefilm
speedandthecamera-to-subjectdistance.(Seetable)

Fill-inFlash
Whenphotographinga subjectintheshade,againstthesunorinfrontofa bright
window,theflashcanbeusedtobrightenthesubject.Afterholdingtheflash-onbutton
andmakingsurethegreenLEDglows,releasetheshutter.
3.Focus-lock{Fig.G)
Whencomposingthepicturewheretheprincipalsubjectisnotinthecentreofthe
viewfinder,itisnecessarytoprefocusthecameralens.Todoso:
(1)Lookthroughtheviewfinderandcomposethepicturesothatyoursubjectislocated
directlywithinthefocusingframe.
(2)Gentlypresstheshutterreleasebuttonhalfwaytolockinthecorrectfocus.
(3)Whilemaintainingpressureontheshutterbutton,recomposethepictureasyou
desireandpresstheshutterbuttonallthewaydowntotakethepicture.The
focus-lockcanbecancelledsimplybyremovingpressureontheshutterbutton.

4.SpecialAutoFocussituations
Theautofocussystemwillfocusaccuratelyonthemajorityofthesubjectsyouwishto
photograph.However,therearea fewsituationswheretheautofocusmechanismmay
notfunctionproperly.Theseare:
A)Whenthesubjecthasstrongreflections,suchaspolishedmetals,exteriorofcars,
bodiesofwater,ormirrors.
B)Subjectswithlittleornoreflection,suchasblackobjects,hair,a flameorsmoke.
C)Subjectsthatareverysmall.
D)Subjectswithanobjectinfrontofthem,suchasa wirenetora cage.
InsituationsA)— D),prefocusonanothersubjectapproximatelythesamedistance
awayandthenrecomposethesceneandtakethepicture.(SeeSection3 onFocus-lock).
E)Takingpicturesthroughglasswindows:
Shootwithcameralensnearertheglassandatanangleofapproximately20°.

Red-eyereductioneffect(Fig.H)
Trythismodetoreducethepossibilityofshowingredeyesinyourflashphoto.Justshift
thelenscoverandred-eyereductionswitchallthewaytothered-eyereductionposition
tosetthismode.Whentheshutterreleasebuttonispressedinthismode,thered-eye
reductionlampwillglowfora fewsecondsandthentheshutterisautomaticallyreleased
togetherwitha burstofflash.(Thered-eyereductionmodeisnotrecommendedfora
snap-shot).
*Evenwhenthered-eyereductionmodeisused,red-eyemaystillpresentitselfdue
tothedifferencesbetweenindividualsandphotographingconditions.Basically,
red-eyeismorepronouncedwithlightcolouredeyesanddarkconditions.

RemovingtheFilm
Attheendofthe
film,
theframecounterwillceasetoadvanceoryoucannotpressthe
shutterreleasebutton.Rewindthefilmbyslidingthefilmrewindswitchinthedirection
ofthearrow(Fig.K).Whenrewindingiscompleteandthemotorhasstopped,openthe
backcoverandremovethefilmcartridgefromthechamber.Thefilmrewindswitchwill
returntoitsoriginalpositionautomatically.
—Torewindthefilmbeforeitiscompletelyused,takethesamestepsasabove.
—Donotopenthebackcoverwhilerewindingthe
film.
—Donotattempttopullthefilmoutyourself.(Fig.L)
