■Network services
Touse thephone you musthave service from a wirelessservice provider. Many of
thefeatures inthisdevice dependonfeaturesinthewirelessnetworktofunction.
Thesenetworkservicesmaynotbeavailable onall networksoryoumayhaveto
make specific arrangements withyour service providerbeforeyoucanutilize
networkservices. Your service provider mayneedto give you additional
instructions for their useand explain what chargeswillapply.Some networksmay

■Shared memory
The following features in this devicemay share memory: gallery, contacts,text
messages, multimedia messages,instant messages,e-mail,calendar, to-do notes,
JavaTM gamesandapplications,andnote application.Use of one or more of these
features may reduce the memory availablefortheremainingfeatures sharing
memory. For example, saving manyJavaapplications mayusealloftheavailable
memory.Yourdevicemay display amessagethatthe memory is fullwhen you try
to use a shared memory feature. In this case, delete some oftheinformation or
entries stored inthesharedmemoryfeaturesbeforecontinuing.Some of the
features, such as textmessages,mayhave acertainamountofmemoryspecially
allotted to them in addition to the memoryshared with other features.
■Enhancements
A few practicalrules about accessories and enhancements are as follows:
• Keepall accessories and enhancements out of the reach of small children.
• Whenyoudisconnectthepowercordofanyaccessoryorenhancement,grasp
andpulltheplug, not the cord.
• Check regularlythat enhancements installed in avehicle are mounted and are
operating properly.
• Installation ofanycomplexcarenhancements must be madebyqualified

Your phoneprovides many functions that arepractical for daily use, such
as a calendar,clock, and alarm clock.Your phone also supportsthe

Security code
Thesecuritycode(5to10digits)helps to protect your phone against
unauthorizeduse.Thepresetcodeis12345. Tochangethe codeandset
the phone torequest the code,see “Security”, p. 53.
PIN codes
Thepersonalidentificationnumber(PIN)codeandthe universal personal
identification number (UPIN) code(4 to 8digits)helptoprotectyourSIM
cardagainstunauthorizeduse.See“Security”,p. 53.

ThesigningPINisrequiredforthedigital signature. See “Digital

PUK codes
Thepersonalunblockingkey(PUK)codeandtheuniversalpersonal
unblockingkey(UPUK)code(8digits)are requiredtochangeablocked
PIN code and UPINcode, respectively. The PUK2 code (8 digits) is required
tochangeablockedPIN2code.Ifthecodesarenotsupplied withtheSIM
card,contactyourlocalserviceproviderforthe codes.
Barring password
Thebarringpassword(4digits)isrequiredwhenusing theCallbarring
service. See “Security”, p. 53.
■Configuration settings service
Touse some of the network services, suchasmobile Internetservicesand
MMS, your phoneneeds the correct configuration settings. You maybe
able to receivethe settings directly as a configuration message.After
receivingthesettingsyouneedtosavethemonyourphone. The service
providermayprovideaPINthatisneededto save the settings. For more
information onavailability, contactyournetworkoperator,service

WhenyouhavereceivedaconfigurationmessageConfigurationsett.

You may beable to download new content(for example, themes) to the
phone(networkservice).Selectthedownloadfunction(forexample, in

Whenyouopenthefold of the phone, it
opensuptoapproximately154degrees.
Do not tryto force the fold open more.
■Install the SIM card and battery
Always switch thedeviceoffanddisconnectthecharger before removing
the battery.
KeepallSIMcardsoutofthereach of small children. For availability and
information onusingSIMcardservices,contactyourSIMcardvendor.
Thismaybetheserviceprovider,network operator, or other vendor.
ThisdeviceisintendedforusewiththeBL-5Bbattery.
The SIM cardand its contacts caneasily be damaged byscratchesor
bending, so becareful when handling, inserting, or removingthe card.

Insert the SIM card

position.

Whenyoudisconnectthepowercord ofanyenhancement,graspandpull
the plug, not thecord.
1. Connectthecharger to an acwallsocket.
2. Connecttheleadfromthechargerto
the socket on thebottom of your
phone.
The charging time dependson the
charger and the battery used.
Ifthebatteryiscompletelydischarged,
it may takea few minutes before thechargingindicatorappearsonthe
displayorbeforeanycallscanbemade.

Note:Aswith anyotherradio
transmittingdevice,donot touch the
antennaunnecessarilywhen thedevice
isswitchedon.Contactwiththe
antennaaffectscallqualityandmay
causethedevicetooperateata higher
power level than otherwise needed.
Avoidingcontactwiththe antenna area when operating the
deviceoptimizestheantennaperformanceandthebattery life.
