FAN ASSEMBLY KIT
FOR SERIES 3830 AND 3930
DESCRIPTION
The Fan Assembly Kit is used with the Series 3830 and 3930
fin and grid units. It is required when the unit is used at or
above 100°F ambient temperature environment with 50 Hz
power supply conditions.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
A WARNING: Disconnect and lock out input electrical
‘I power to the unit. Failure to disconnect external
power to the applicator presents a serious shock
hazard. Even though the circuit breaker is OFF, the
input terminal block (TBl) and input terminals on
the circuit breaker are still electrically energized if
external power is not disconnected.
A WARNING: Wear safety glasses, safety gloves
(P/N 902 514), anldprotective clothing to prevent
injury from hot applicator parts, splashed hot
melt adhesive miaterialand hot gun surfaces.

Manal for additional safety information.
UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS
Carefully remove the Fan Assembly Kit (P/N 109 478) from the
shipping container and com:pare it with the items listed below.
Inspect the components for obvious signs of damage. If damage
is found, contact your Nordson sales representative.

INSTALLATION
Refer to Figure 1 for the following procedure.

WARNING: The Series 3000 Applicators contain
‘r energized electrical components with potentials
that could be fatal. Exercise extreme caution when

installing, operating and servicing this equipment.
Only qualified personnel should install and service
this equipment.
Disconnect and lockout input power to the applicator.
Loosen the captive screw on top of the hopper enclosure
until it is free of the motor support bracket.
Lift the hopper enclosure straight up off of the unit.
Disconnect the ground wire (G-9) from inside the hopper
enclosure and set enclosure aside.
Loosen the four captive screws securing the electrical cover
to the applicator, remove cover and set aside.
Loosen screws on the front cover support bracket (between
hose end frame and center frame). Loosen captive screws on
the front cover at the center frame and control frame. Tilt
front cover away from unit and lift upward to remove, set
cover aside. Disconnect ground wire (G-3) from front cover
if necessary.
Cut tie wrap and disconnect the other end of the (G-9) ground
wire from the fan/solenoid connector of the unit wire harness.
Discard ground wire or save for future use.
Refer to Figures 2 and 3 for fan installation. Attach fan to
the hopper enclosure as follovvs:
a. Place fan on the left inside wall of the hopper enclosure
and secure with four screws, washers and nuts.
b. Connect the fan ground (G-9) to the ground stud inside
the hopper enclosure.
C. Connect receptacle end of the fan assembly wire group
to the fan/solenoid connector of the unit wire harness.
Reconnect the front cover ground (G3). Install front cover
and tighten captive screws.

10.
Install the hopper enclosure on the applicator and secure
the top captive screw to the motor bracket.
11.
Install the electrical cover and tighten the four captive
screws.
12. Restore power to the applicator and resume normal
operation.
