Bluetooth Tipper Remote
– User Manual

Purpose
The Bluetooth tipper remote kit with charger provides
the user with the convenience of controlling the Nugent
range of tipping trailers via their phone.
The charging kit allows the user a fast, safe way of
charging the battery in the Nugent range of tipping
trailers without having to have the tipper raised up to
allow access to the battery.

Important safety instructions
Be sure to observe the following guidelines when using
the Bluetooth tipping module/charging unit.
Kill switch
Kill switch must be engaged when the trailer is in
motion or being left unattended.
Bluetooth tipping module
Unit contains no serviceable parts and should not be
opened at any time, if the unit must be opened this
must only be performed by a competent person.
Ensure that the area around the tipper is clear and that
there are no people, animals or other obstacles in the
way.

Battery charger
Explosion risk – Only connect the battery charger when
the mains lead is unplugged.
Gases may leak during the charging process, ensure
that the area is well ventilated during charging.
Charger is for indoor use only.
Unplug the charger from the mains before
connecting/disconnecting the battery charger.
Charging unit has been tested with the batteries that
come in stalled in the Nugent Tipper trailers, for
charging any other battery please consult the charger
instructions.
Unit is for charging only one battery at a time.
Charger is not to be used to recharge non rechargeable
batteries.
Do not leave the charger unattended for long periods of
time when charging the battery in the trailer.
Do not use the charger in damp, wet areas as moisture
can damage the charger.
When not in use store the charge in a cool, dry location
out of reach of children.
Ensure the crocodile clips are securely on the battery
terminals and that the positive and negative are
connected the correct way before plugging in the
charge.

Installation guide
(no KOBO plug hole/mounting holes, no holes for
Bluetooth module in drawbar)
Required tools:
•Drill
•30mm hole saw
•6mm drill bit
•Masking tape
•Star screwdriver
•Measuring tape
•10mm spanner/socket
•8mm spanner/socket
•Wire cutters
•Measuring tape
•Marker pen
Battery cable
The battery cable is used to power the Bluetooth
module and also the charge point to charge the battery.
COBO plug
The COBO plug end must be installed first, do not
connect the battery first or else there is a risk of
touching the red and black wires together when
attaching them to the COBO plug.

•Mark the hole to be drilled for the COBO plug
using the masking tape as shown
•70mm across from edge A
•52mm up from edge B
•Mark point and use this point to drill the 30mm
hole with the hole saw

•Cut the hole using the drill and hole saw
•Prepare the battery cable by putting the sheath
onto the wire and pushing the wire through the
hole from the inside

•Cut the hole using the drill and hole saw
•Prepare the battery cable by putting the sheath
onto the wire and pushing the wire through the
hole from the inside
•Connect the terminals to the COBO plug and pull
the sheath over the COBO plug

•Put the kobo plug into place and use a pen to
mark the mounting holes for the kobo plug
•Remove the kobo plug and use the drill and the
6mm bit to drill the holes
•Push the kobo plug securely into the hole

•Use the suppled bolts to secure the kobo plug to
the trailer

Battery connection
•Loosen the nut on the positive side of the
battery and disconnect the cable
•Put the positive connection of the battery cable
onto the battery
•Replace the positive battery connection
•Replace the nut removed from the first step and
tighten it securely
•Repeat the above steps for the negative
terminal
•Use the cable ties to secure the battery cable to
the existing cables as shown
•Trim the ends of the cable ties with the cutters

Bluetooth module
•Remove the 4 screws from the box of the
Bluetooth module
•Use the drill and 6mm drill bit to drill through
the Bluetooth module box as shown
•Place the box into the drawbar of the trailer as
shown
•Use the marker pen to mark the location of the
holes on the drawbar
•Remove the Bluetooth module and use the drill
to drill the 4 mounting holes
•Use the nuts and bolts provided to attach the
module to the drawbar
•Put the cover of the Bluetooth module back in
place and replace the 4 screws ensuring to
tighten them fully

Using the Bluetooth tipping feature
The app available on the app store and play is suitable
for devices running:
IOS 9.0+
Android 5.0+
Using the app
Make sure that Bluetooth is turned is switched on.
(Refer to the documentation of your phone for
instructions on doing this).
This is the main screen of
the app; it will appear as
shown when it isn’t
connected to a Nugent
tipping trailer.

When a Nugent Tipping
trailer is in range the app will
appear as shown “DSD
relay”, this is the Bluetooth
module. Click on this to
connect to the trailer.
The Bluetooth module is now
connected to the phone and
the arrow keys can be used
to control the tipping of the
trailer.

Using the charger
On the front of the trailer there are two sockets as
shown above.
Left socket – Control cable from Bluetooth module.
(This socket can also be used to plug in a wired
controller if required).
Right socket – Power supply to Bluetooth module and
battery charging port.
•Unplug socket B from the trailer
•Plug the charging lead into socket B
•Plug the charger into a mains socket
•When charging is complete
•unplug the charger from the mains socket
•unplug the lead from socket B
•plug the power cable from the Bluetooth module
back into socket B

Troubleshooting
Bluetooth module is not working
•Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on
•Restart the app (see phone instructions for
specifics on doing this)
•Ensure both sockets from the Bluetooth module
are plugged into the trailer and are fitted
securely
•Ensure that the battery connections are secure
and that the battery has power
•When one person is connected to the tipping
trailer and is in range it is not possible for
someone else to take control of the tipper. To
allow this the connected person must disconnect
to allow the other user to connect

Bluetooth tipping remote FAQ
Safety warning
Lockout switch must be engaged when the trailer is
unattended or being towed.
What is the range of the device?
The range depends on obstacles, weather etc. approx.
20-30m.
Can more than one device tip the trailer at one
time?
No, only one device can be connected to the Bluetooth
module at any time.
Does the module require batteries to be
installed/changed?
No, the module is powered by the 12volt battery which
is on the trailer for powering the tipper pump.
