ZU IHRER SICHERHEIT
• Stellen Sie das Produkt auf eine trockene, ebene und harte
Oberfläche.
• Stellen Sie das Produkt niemals auf Verstärker oder andere
Geräte, die heiß werden oder belüftet werden müssen.
• Stellen Sie keine schweren Gegenstände, Objekte mit offenen

RETROSPECTIVE SPEAKER COLUMN 1977
NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE 1977 Speaker Column ist ein Drei Wege-Lautsprecher
mit zwei Tieftonlautsprechern im typischen Look der Siebziger Jahre. Dabei sind
die verwendeten Komponenten und der Klangcharakter hochmodern: Durch sei-
ne präzise Ansprache und die hohe Pegelfestigkeit klingt der Lautsprecher aus-
gesprochen lebendig und kann Räume bis zu einer Größe von 60 m² versorgen.
Zudem haben wir bei der Entwicklung besonderen Wert auf einen natürlichen
Raumeindruck bei sehr guter Lokalisation von Stimmen und Instrumenten ge-
legt. Wir empfehlen eine freie Aufstellung mit einem Abstand von mindestens 70
cm zu allen Wänden und einen hochwertigen und kräftigen Vollverstärker gemäß
der Leistungsempfehlung am Ende dieser Anleitung.
NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE 1977 Speaker Column is a three-way loudspeaker in-
cluding two woofers with a retro look of the Seventies. However, the sound cha-
racter and the components used are state-of-the-art: With its precise response
and wide volume range, this speaker sounds extremely lively and easily lls a
room up to a size of 60 sqm. During the development, we focused on an excel-
lent spatial response with clear localization of voices and instruments. While
positioning your speakers, we recommend a 360 degree distance of at least 70
cm all around – otherwise bass reproduction may be too strong. To access the
full potential of our RETROSPECTIVE Speaker Column, we recommend a high
quality integrated amplier or power amplier according to our recommendation
at the end of this manual.

RETROSPECTIVE SPEAKER BOX 1978
NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE 1978 ist eine Drei Wege-Lautsprecherbox im eigentlichen Wortsinne, denn
sie greift die typische Form von HiFi-Stereolautsprecher“boxen“ der Siebziger und Achtziger Jahre auf.
Auf Grund ihres großen Volumens und der kräftigen Basswiedergabe sollte Ihr Paar Speaker Boxen 1978
leicht geneigt auf einem stabilen Möbelstück oder dem Fußboden aufgestellt werden: Besonders stilecht
gelingt dies mit unseren RETROSPECTIVE-Ständern, die wir als Zubehör anbieten. Zwängen Sie diesen
Lautsprecher bitte nicht in ein Regal, sondern halten Sie einen Abstand von mindestens 50 cm zu al-
len umgebenden Wänden: Der NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE 1978 belohnt die freie Aufstellung mit einem
druckvollen, punktgenauen und besonders realistischen Klang in Räumen bis zu einer Grundfläche von
40 m². Bitte stellen Sie Ihr Lautsprecherpaar so auf, dass die beiden NUMAN-Logos nach außen zeigen.
NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE 1978 is a three-way loudspeaker in the true sense of the word: It
adopts the typical shape of hi- stereo speakers from the Seventies and Eighties. Due to its
large volume and powerful bass reproduction, the Speaker Boxes 1978 should be placed on
a sturdy piece of furniture or on the floor: To do this in proper “Eighties style”, we recommend
our RESTROSPECTIVE speaker stands, available as an accessory. Please do not squeeze this
loudpeaker into a bookshelf, and try to keep a 360 degree distance of at least 50 cm all around:
The result of this effort will be a powerful, precise and very realistic sound in rooms with a floor
space of up to 40 sqm. While placing your pair of loudspeakers, NUMAN-logos should point
away from each other.

VERSTÄRKER / AMPLIFIER
AUSWAHL DES RICHTIGEN VERSTÄRKERS
Beide NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE Lautsprecher sind typische 4 Ohm Lautsprecher, die an nahezu jedem HiFi-Verstärker funk-
tionieren, ohne dass dieser beschädigt werden kann - das gilt auch für die meisten älteren Verstärker und Receiver aus den
Siebziger und Achtziger Jahren. Im Zweifel schauen Sie bitte in die Anleitung Ihres Gerätes. Wir empfehlen einen Verstärker
mit einer Spitzenleistung gemäß der nachstehenden Tabelle. Sollten Sie beim Abhören mit hohen Lautstärken (z.B. bei einer
Party) Verzerrungen hören, reduzieren Sie bitte sofort die Lautstärke an Ihrem Verstärker.
SELECTING THE RIGHT AMPLIFIER
The both NUMAN RETROSPECTIVE speakers are typical 4ohm speakers. Technically speaking, they have been designed to
work on almost every type of integrated or power amplier “old and new, big and small” without any risk of damaging the am-
plier; if in doubt, please check the manual of your device. We recommend an amplier with a Peak Power Output according
our Power Handling specication below. However, if you hear audible distortion while listening at higher volumes (e.g. on a
party), please reduce the output of your amplier immediately.

ANSCHLUSS / CONNECTION
We recommend to use special speaker cable with a mini-
mum diameter of 2,5 mm² for RETROSPECTIVE Column.
The shorter and thicker the cable, the better the sound.
Cable lengths below 5 meters may be considered as ge-
nerally uncritical.
Please connect one end of your cable
with your loudspeaker. While connec-
ting the other end with your ampli-
fier, please make sure to connect the
PLUS-clamb (usually marked RED) of
your amplifier with the PLUS-clamb
of our NUMAN connector panel - and
MINUS (mostly BLACK) with MINUS.
“Mismatching Connections” on some of
your speakers will neither be damaging your amplier nor
your speakers; it will simply sound “somewhat diffuse”,
with a noticeable lack of deep bass. If you notice, that
your new speaker setup “doesn’t sound right somehow”,
please recheck the connections you have made!
Wir empfehlen Ihnen, Lautsprecherkabel mit einem Durch-
messer von mindestens 2,5 mm² für die RETROSPECTIVE
Lautsprecher zu verwenden. Je kürzer und dicker das Ka-
bel, desto besser der Klang. Kabel bis zu etwa 5 m Länge
sind in jedem Falle unkritisch.
Verbinden Sie bitte zuerst das eine Ende
Ihres Kabels mit den beiden Anschluss-
klemmen an Ihrem Lautsprecher. Wenn
Sie dann das andere Ende an den Verstär-
ker anschließen, achten Sie bitte darauf,
die PLUS-Klemme (meist ROT) des Ver-
stärkers mit der PLUS-Klemme des NU-
MAN-Anschlussfeldes zu verbinden - und
MINUS (meist SCHWARZ) mit MINUS.
Falsche Verbindungen an einzelnen Lautsprechern be-
schädigen weder Ihren Verstärker noch Ihre Lautspre-
cher, der Klang erscheint aber „diffus“ und zugleich arm
an Bass. Wenn Sie also nach dem Anschließen mit dem
Klangcharakter unzufrieden sind, überprüfen Sie zunächst
alle Verbindungen!

HINWEISE ZUR ENTSORGUNG
Für die Produkt gilt die Europäische Richtlinie 2002/96/EG.
Diese Produkte dürfen nicht mit dem normalen Hausmüll
entsorgt werden. Informieren Sie sich über die örtlichen Re-
gelungen zur getrennten Sammlung elektrischer und elekt-
ronischer Gerätschaften. Entsorgen Sie Altgeräte nicht über
den Hausmüll. Durch die regelkonforme Entsorgung der Alt-
geräte werden Umwelt und die Gesundheit ihrer Mitmenschen
vor möglichen negativen Konsequenzen geschützt. Material-
recycling hilft, den Verbrauch von Rohstoffen zu verringern.
DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
According to the European waste regulation 2002/96/EC,
this product may not be treated as household waste. Instead
it should be taken to the appropriate collection point for the
recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By ensu-
ring that this product is disposed of correctly, you will help
to prevent potential negative consequences for the environ-
ment and human health, which could otherwise be caused
by inappropriate waste handling. For more detailled infor-
mation about recycling of this product, please contact your
local council or your household waste disposal service.
