IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING Keep dry. Replace control if
exposed to water, moisture or contamination.
WARNING Use and follow these instructions
along with all instructions that have been
provided with your whirlpool bathtub in order
to fully enjoy the bathtub safely.
WARNING Electronic control system
components should be installed as per local
and national Electrical Codes, in a location not
to be subjected to splashing or flooding.
Exposure to water or splashing will void all
product certifications and warranties.
There are no user serviceable parts inside.
Opening, modifying, or tampering with control
system components will void all product
certifications and warranties.
WARNING Risk of electric shock. Connect
only to a ground type receptacle or power
supply junction box protected by a Ground-
Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). Contact a
qualified electrician if you cannot verify that the
power supply is protected by a GFCI. The
GFCI should be tested on a routine basis.
Consult the GFCI manufacturer’s instructions
for correct testing and operation
For electrical connections, see applicable
wiring diagram.
See www.nuwhirl.com/docs/product-
instructions.html
Do not use an extension cord to connect the
product to the electric supply; provide a properly
located receptacle or junction box.
WARNING Failure to install in strict accordance
with each and every instruction above may
compromise the system, which may cause
injury to persons and/or property.
The tub may be supplied from more than one
power source. Before working on any electrical
device, make sure all power to the control
system is off.
Use this unit only for its intended use as
described in this manual. Do not use
attachments not recommended by the
manufacturer. Any improper installation or
misuse of the equipment may result in injury to

A clean, brushed surface is imperative for proper preparation. Before
installing, follow these pre-installation instructions carefully.
1. Inspect Heating Equipment Thoroughly Damage from shipping or
delivery must be reported to the carrier and NuWhirl immediately. Do
not install damaged equipment.
Surface Heaters are tested by the factory prior to shipment. Although
extremely rare, factory defects may happen and are to be reported to
NuWhirl before the equipment is installed.
2. Verify Electrical Specications Check the
heating watts marked on the CRUS UL label on
the back side of the surface heater.
More than one heater may be connected as long as the total wattage
drawn by all heaters does not exceed the watt capacity of the
controller.
WARNING DO NOT alter the provided supply cords or the heater.
3. Clean Underlying Tub Surface. The underlying
area must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease
prior to brushing.
CAUTION Follow the cleaning procedure as provided by the tub or
tub material manufacturer. It is important that proper cleaning
preparation be maintained prior to the installation of the heater
blanket. If the instructions are not followed, proper adhesion may
not be attained and the blanket could loosen from the surface and
result in poor heating to the surface of the tub.
PRE-INSTALLATION PREPARATION

4. Mark Installation Location for
Surface Brushing Determine the
appropriate location of the heater
underneath the tub and mark
location as necessary. Make sure the
location will allow the heater to be
laid flat without any folding or
bending.
5. Brush Surface Prepare the
underside surface by using a steel
wire brush with a pneumatic or
electric grinder in the area that
the heater will be placed.
WARNING Always wear protective eye goggles and breathing
protection while brushing the underside tub surface.
6. Clean Brushed Area. Wipe the brushed
area with Isopropyl alcohol and be sure
that the surface is completely dry.
7. The heater is ready for installation.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Before installing, follow the pre-installation instructions on Page 4
carefully. The following steps apply to the peel-and-stick models.
1. Release Adhesive. Remove the
release paper from the back of the
heater. Do not touch or handle the
adhesive side of the heater.
2. Position the
heater into place
and rmly press the
heater to the
surface of the tub.
Ensure the heater is completely flat
without any folds or air gaps.
3. Press the Surface Heater with a
Rubber-Coated Roller from the
center of the heater out to the
edges of the heater in all directions
to create the strong perimeter seal.
Apply at least 15 PSI with the roller.
Note It is important to create a strong seal on the perimeter of the
heater. Bond Strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive
surface contact developed. Firm application pressure develops better
adhesive contact and helps improve bond strength.
Note Full bond strength of the adhesive will be achieved in 72 hours.
The remaining installation steps, system testing and shipping may be
completed during this period.

WARNING! To prevent accidental
overheating, DO NOT cover the seat
with any type of insulating material
(e.g. towel, bathrobe, or similar
covering).
Installation & Operating Instruction Manual
Note Once the heater is affixed to the tub, removing or repositioning it
will compromise the adhesive.
If the heater needs to be
repositioned after application,
additional adhesive will be
required for secure adherence.
In this case: Apply 3M 90 Spray
Adhesive to the existing adhesive
(non-insulated side) and repeat steps 2 and 4.
4. Safety Warning Label Place a safety warning label on a prominently
exposed area of the tub which warns users not to cover the heated
areas with any type of insulating material.
