1.Locatevehicle’sDLCsocket.TheDLC(DataLinkConnectororDiagnosticLinkConnector)isthe
standardized16‐cavityconnectorwherediagnosticcodereadersinterfacewiththevehicle's
on‐boardcomputer.TheDLCisusuallylocated12inchesfromthecenteroftheinstrumentpanel
(dash),underoraroundthedriver’ssideformostvehicles.IfDataLinkConnectorisnotlocated
underdashboard,alabelshouldbetheretellinglocation.ForsomeAsianandEuropeanvehicles,
theDLCislocatedbehindtheashtrayandtheashtraymustberemovedtoaccesstheconnector.
IftheDLCcannotbefound,refertothevehicle’sservicemanualforthelocation.
2.PlugtheVCIdiagnosticconnectorintothevehicle’sDLCsocket(ItissuggestedtousetheOBD
