EN-2 Defender Series Floor Scale
1. Introduction
This manual contains installation, operation and maintenance instructions for
the Defender Series Floor Scale.
1.1. Safety Instructions
Please follow these safety precautions:
Position the power cord so that it does not pose a potential
obstacle or disconnection hazard.
Operate the equipment only under ambient conditions specified in
the user instructions.
Disconnect the equipment from mains power before cleaning or
servicing.
Do not operate the equipment in hazardous or explosive
environments.
The foundation at the installation site must be capable of safely
supporting the weight of the floor scale plus the weight of the
maximum load.
Ensure vibrations around the scale are kept to a minimum. This
also applies to transportation.
Service should only be performed by authorized personnel.

1.2. Connecting an Indicator
When connecting the base to TD52 indicator , push the base connector onto
the indicator connector and turn the locking ring clockwise to lock it in place.
When connecting the base to an indicator that does not have the matching
connector, install the optional load cell cable adapter (P/N 30429931 sold
separately) to the indicator. Then attach the load cell cable to the cable adapter.
Note: As an alternate wiring method, cut off the connector, strip the wires and
attach them to the indicator using the wiring codes in Table 1.
The extension cable accessory (P/N: 30429931) cannot be used if the scale will
be used in a legal for trade or legally controlled application, because there is no
provision to seal the connection between the indicator and platform.

2. Internal structure and working principle
2.1. Internal structure
Figure2-1.Floor scale
DFD series floor scales are made up of components demonstrated above.
Connect the double shielded cable to the weighing instrument and turn on the
power to use. In addition, external devices such as big screens, computers
and printers can be connected to the scale.
Note: The standard is single ramp.

Defender Series Floor Scale EN-5
2.2. Working principle
Put an object on the weighing platform. Under gravity, the load cell elastomer
deforms and makes the impedance of the strain gauge bridge adhered to the
elastomer by the strain gage out of balance. As a result, a voltage signal
proportional to the weight value is outputted. The signal is then amplified by a
linear amplifier, and converted to a digital signal by an analog-to-digital
converter, which is processed by the microprocessor of the meter to display
the weight data. Squadron staff can read the weight directly and print weight
record at any time if having a printer.
The ultra-low floor platform scales have no ramp resistance and boast
accurate weighing. They are suitable for use in laboratory, medical and
chemical industries. Stainless steel or carbon steel can be selected according
to requirements.

EN-6 Defender Series Floor Scale
3. Basic requirements and installation
3.1. Basic requirements
Ensure that the installation is performed according to the instructions, and the
surface is flat in the area where the scale will be positioned,
The Height difference of the surface must not exceed 1mm. The maximum
weight capacity of the surface at the four cell feet position should be higher
than the maximum allowed weight of the cell.
3.2. Standard installation
1. Take out the weighing platform and place it on the ground.
2. Take out the footplates and place them at four corners of the platform.
3. Adjust the height of the load cell to ensure that feet are stable on the
footplates.
4. Secure the ramp and mounting plate with M10 hex bolts and protective
sleeves. (Check below picture for detail)

5. Secure four footplates with expansion bolts.
6. Connect the signal cable with the indicator.

3.3. Accessory installation
Stop bar
1. Take out the stop bar and the matching bolts.
2. On the opposite side of the ramp, use two M8 bolts to secure the stop bar
to the scale body and insert rubber plugs into the two round holes.

Ramp
The standard is a single ramp. If you order an extra ramp, follow instruction in
section 3.2 Standard installation to install it on the other side of the platform.

EN-8 Defender Series Floor Scale
4. Operation
4.1. Operation Instruction
After installation, if you need to use the scale for trade, you need to give
the scale to local metrology department or national metrology
department for verification before use.
The scale needs to be warmed up for 30 minutes. Please refer to
scale's technical manual for detailed operation.
Metering must be performed when the "Zero Center Cursor "light on the
meter is lit.
4.2. Precautions
For continued best operating performance::
• Avoid falling loads, shocks and hard lateral
impacts
• When weighing, all items should be
centrally located on the floor scale and not
over hanging the sides or the ramps.
• Verify the calibration of the floor scale
system at regular intervals.
• Though the floor scale boast a relative
strong structure, the weight placed must be
within the allowed range.

Defender Series Floor Scale EN-9
5. Maintenance
5.1. Daily Checks
Check that the scale is free from debris, especially under the edges of
the scale.
Check that there is no damage to the connecting cable.
5.2. Cleaning
Maintenance of the floor scale is limited to regular cleaning.
Clean the scale in a dry environment:
- Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth.
- Use only common household cleaning
agents.
- Never use water spray or high-pressure
cleaners.
When using optional Ramps or Foot Plates:
- Keep the air gap at the edge of the Floor
Scale free of debris.
5.3. Service information

ES-2 Báscula de Sobresuelo Serie Defender
