1 - Connecting the serial port cable:
● Insert the 9-pin male plug into the 9-pin female socket of the modem (serial connector),
then connect the other end of the cable to the serial port of your computer

2 - Connecting to the telephone line:
● Insert the RJ11 plug into the female socket on the modem.

● Plug the 3.5 mm female connector into the modem‘s power supply socket, then
plug the power supply unit into the main supply.

On the front panel are:
• 8 indicators lights.
Light Colour Description
ON Red •When lit, indicates that modem is switched on.
LI Green When lit, indicates that the modem is on line
TD Red Flashes according to the rate at which data is transmitted from
terminal to modem
RD Red Flashes according to the rate at which data is transmitted from
modem to terminal
Function indicator lights :
● Switch the modem ON. It should emit a beep.

When connected, the modem
must beep
You are now ready to follow
the software installation
procedure.
On the rear panel of the modem are:
• 9-pin female socket (DB9): interface.
• 4-pin socket (RJ11): telephone connection
• Male connector: power supply
• On/off button.

Installing the drivers provided with
Windows 95 or 98 :
Your Speed’Com 56000 should be
connected and switched on.
1) Choose Run, Settings, then Control
panel.
2) Double click on the Modem icon
3) Two types of screens may appear:
a) Select General, select Add, then follow
steps 4 to 8.
b) Do not click on the option Do not detect
modem, …, select Next, wait for a few
moments whilst the system tests ports to find
the port being used by the modem.
Click on Next, then Change. Follow steps 4, 5,
then 8. Do not choose 7.
4) Insert the CD-Rom or the Olicom Windows
diskette.DonotclickontheoptionDonotdetect
modem…, click on Next.
5) Choose supplied diskette make sure that A:\
or D: is in the field, if not use the Browse func-
tion. If it is a CD-Rom, open file Win95-98,
then click on OK and OK.
6) Choose one of the proposed modems, click
on Next.
7) Choose the port to which your modem is
connected, click on Next, wait for a few
moments.
8) Click on End.
The installation is now complete.
