Prepare the batteries
a. Charge the batteries.
Batteries come partially charged.
The plug of the battery charger differs depending on the region where you
purchased the camera. The above procedure uses the AC cable type battery
charger as an example. If you received the plug-in type battery charger, plug
it directly into an AC wall outlet.
b. Insert the batteries in the camera.
For details on inserting an optional xD-Picture Card (hereinafter called the
card), please refer to “Inserting and removing the card” (P. 63).

Turn the camera on
This explains how to turn on the camera in shooting mode.
a. Set the mode dial to h.
Still picture shooting modes

To turn off the camera, press the obutton once again.
hFor normal shooting.
hThis function reduces the blur incurred by a moving subject or camera
movement when taking pictures.
BSuitable for taking pictures of people.
ESuitable for taking pictures of a landscape.
MSuitable for taking pictures of people at night.
fSelect from 10 scene modes according to the shooting conditions.
RUse the shooting guide displayed on the screen to shoot pictures according
to the situation.
