Please read the following instructions carefully before installing heater into service. Trouble
free and safe operating of the unit can only be guaranteed if recommendations and
conditions stated in this manual are respected.

Safety instructions
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out by trained and
experienced stuff.
Disconnect power supply before installation or any maintenance work.
Electrical work must always be carried out by qualified electrician.
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out when the device is
not connected to power supply.
Do not exceed max. operating temperature range or operating voltage(see
data label).
Do not use the device in hazardous areas with potentially explosive
atmospheres.
Use the device for the appropriate purpose only.
Appropriate use
ECDh series condensate drain heater is intended exclusively for heating ECD
series condensate drain housing for the purpose of preventing condensate from
freezing inside the housing. Any other form of use or one going beyond this shall
be considered as inappropriate. We shall have no liability whatsoever for any
damage incurred as a result.

Operating
The bottom aluminium part of the heater is in direct contact with ECD housing. The junction
transmits 5W of thermal energy from heater to housing. It is recommended to apply thermal
conductive paste on the surface of heating element to enhance thermal conductivity.
Aluminium housing has surface of 201cm^2 with heat conductivity 0,034 W/moK. ECDh-5 will
raise the temperature of housing for 15oC above ambient. Response was measured with
ECDh heater installed on bare ECD, meaning ECD drain was not connected to any piping
system and there was no condensate flow through housing. When dimensioning and
installing condensate drain and heater it must be taken in to account, that connecting ECD
on compressed air network will increase conductive surface and thermal losses, therefore
lowering the temperature of drain housing. Any condensate flow through ECD drain will
further alter temperature response. It is up to user to take these environmental variables in
to account. If necessary, it is possible to thermally isolate ECD drain housing and piping
network from environment and reducing heat losses.

1. It is recommended to apply thermally conductive paste to the junction surface to
enhance heat transfer.
2. Place the heater to the bottom of the drain housing. No washer is needed.
3. Insert three self-tapping screws in to the marked holes.
4. Alternately turn the screws and gradually tighten them into the housing.
5. Connect cable to the mains voltage supply. Make sure the power is turned off before
proceeding. Ensure proper insulation in the power socket.
Maintenance
Service:
It is recommended to check the connecting cable and the integrity of heater and ECD
housing. It should be checked for any sign of damage on housing or cable.
Attention
Before beginning maintenance work disconnect the heater and condensate drain from
power supply.
Electrical wiring
Please ensure that the installation is carried out according to the valid regulations
Brown: L - Phase
Blue: N - Neutral
Green/Yellow: PE –Protective earth

The guarantee shall be void if:
The installation and operating manual was not followed with respect to installation,
initial commissioning and maintenance.
The unit was not operated properly and appropriately.
The unit was operated when it was clearly defective.
Non-original spare parts or replacement parts were used.
The unit was not operated within the permissible technical parameters.
Unauthorized constructional changes were made to the unit or if the unit has been
opened/disassembled by an unauthorized person
The installation and operating manual was not followed with respect to installation,
initial commissioning, and maintenance.
