systems and ATEX applications can operate the device or perform any kind of work
related to the device.
3. Appropriate use
3.1. Intended usage
AOK 20SS Ex is intended to drain condensate from compressed system. To collect the
condensate as effectively as possible, the drain should be installed at a low point of the pipe
section.
This is an automatic function and does not need any additional electrical energy. Depending
on the liquid level, a float controls the drainage from the body of a drain via a system of
levers.
The float is dimensioned for draining of condensate of the density of water condensate. The
use with condensate of other density must be checked with manufacturer.
Product shall only be used for its intended purpose!
Any other use shall be considered as inappropriate. Manufacturer shall have no
liability whatsoever for any damage incurred as result.

4.2. Operation
Drain must be installed bellow pressure vessel, filter element, dryer, cyclone separator or
similar pressure system element. Through connection on the top condensate accumulates in
the drain reservoir. Increasing water level rises the floating buoyancy. When the condensate
level is high enough the floater unblocks the discharge orifice via levers and the condensate
is purged out through output connection. When condensate level drops floater drops with it
and blocks the discharge orifice. This operation prevents air loss.
On the front side of the drain is a TEST button, which if rotated in a clockwise direction.
Button lifts the float, which opens the outlet and drains the condensate. This can be done at
any time. The button can also be used as a release of pressure from the system. But for
longer release times of compressed air from the system, we recommend disconnecting all
devices from the OUTLET connection, such as traps, oil separators, piping, etc.
It is forbidden to use excessive force or other tools to rotate the test button.

6. Installation
Before installing the product, check that thy system is
not under pressure. Wear necessary personal protective
equipment and folow the safety rules when working
with pressure equipment.
The product should be unpacked at the installation location and inspected for
damage prior to installation. Damaged product must not be installed.
It is necessary to ensure that covers have been removed from all the connections
beffor installation.
Before connecting the product, blow compressed air through the piping in order to
thoroughly clean out any impurities within it.
Install the drain at a level below the receiver, if not the receiver will fill up with
condensate.
Earthing of the product must be done with wire of cross-section ≥1.5 mm2. Make
earthing on position 3 and 4.
It is recommended to install a ball valve between the product and the system. This is
done to ensure easy maintenance work on the product without the needed to empty
the entire system.
It is recommended to add strainer, and then the connection nipple (position 19) to
allow the flow of air upward.
After initial run, open the product and clean all components.
It is strongly recommended that waste condensate from discharge port is connected
to water treatment application, such as water oil separator to protect the
environment from pollution and to comply with environmental laws.

10
7. Maintenance
The automatic operation of the product requires maintenance to ensure that it continuous
to operate perfectly.
Before maintenance depressurize the product and keep
to the safety rules when working with pressure
equipment.
Weekly:
Rotate the "Test" button and manually drain the accumulated condensate until air begins
to blow from the drain. If a significant amount of water (more than 0.5 litres) exits the
valve then the drain must be thoroughly cleaned.
Monthly:
Visually check seals on the body and the pipe connection, make sure there is no leakage.
If strainer is installed prior the drain, check and clean it.
Yearly:
Clean interior of the reservoir regularly. Intervals of cleaning depend on contamination
of condensate.
Replace the sealings if necessary.
Make a visual check of the drain and make sure there is no visual damage or leakage.
7.1. Service
It is recommended to clean the reservoir at least once a year. Sealing elements are subject
to wear, which depends on various operating parameters such as pressure, temperature,
dirt content, etc. It is also recommended to change seals.
7.2. Spare parts
Replacement seals are available on demand. Please contact your distributor or
manufacturer.
8. Transport and storage
A product must be handled, transported and stored with care:
The product must be transported and stored in its protective packaging until it is
installed.
When the product is stored prior to installation, it should be kept in closed rooms
and protected against harmful influences such as dirt, moist and frost.

9. Warranty exclusion
The guarantee shall be void if:
The installation and operating manual was not followed with respect to installation,
initial commissioning and maintenance.
The unit was not operated properly and appropriately.
The unit was operated when it was clearly defective.
Non-original spare parts or replacement parts were used.
The unit was not operated within the permissible technical parameters.
Unauthorized constructional changes were made to the unit or if the unit has been
opened/disassembled by an unauthorized person.
